Very clean. Courteous staff. Very comfortable.
We have been loyal Marriott customers for 15 years, and this was, without question, the worst and dirtiest stay we have ever had at any Marriott property.
We checked into SpringHill Suites Aberdeen/Edgewood after a three-hour drive with two children and sports equipment, exhausted and ready to settle in. When we pulled out the trundle bed for our 6-year-old son, we were shocked to find it covered in blood stains. Not a small spot — multiple visible stains. Absolutely unacceptable.
We immediately called the front desk and simply asked if the twin mattress from the sofa trundle could be swapped out for a clean one. The man working the front desk offered no apology whatsoever and told us he couldn’t do that — we would have to switch rooms. With two kids, bags, equipment, and already unpacked, this was a huge inconvenience — but we packed everything back up and hauled it downstairs.
The front desk agent was completely apathetic. No apology. No urgency. If anything, he seemed annoyed as though we were the inconvenience.
We were moved to a first-floor room. Before unpacking again, we checked the trundle bed — and were stunned to find this one covered in a massive urine stain and food crumbs. The room was also sweltering hot with no air running.
We went back to the front desk with photos. His response?
“Ma’am, I don’t think any of our rooms are going to make you happy. I think you should have me cancel your reservation and leave to go to another hotel.”
I’m sorry… what?
Requesting a clean mattress for a small child — one not stained in blood and urine — is now unreasonable? Instead of addressing the cleanliness and brand standard issues, the solution was for us to leave?
For context, I am a Director of Sales and Marketing for two major brand hotels. I understand hotel operations. I understand housekeeping challenges. What I do not understand is a complete lack of cleanliness standards paired with a complete lack of professionalism.
This was only the beginning.
We were forced to move a third time (all nearby hotels were fully booked due to sporting events). The third room finally had a clean trundle bed — but the bathroom was dirty, the shower soap dispenser was ripped off the wall, there were no washcloths, and only two bath towels for four people.
At the pool, there were zero pool towels. The front desk told us they were “all in the laundry.” We were forced to use our only two bath towels for four people. After swimming, all four of us needed showers. We attempted to exchange our soaking wet towels for clean ones — and were again told there were none available.
No pool towels. No clean bath towels. No washcloths. Broken fixtures. Dirty rooms. No hot water when we finally showered.
Is this a housekeeping issue? A management issue? Both?
I have stayed at roadside motels cleaner than this property. This was a disaster from start to finish and far more hassle than it was worth. I would honestly rather sleep in my car next time.
Marriott should be embarrassed by the condition and service standards at this location.
Stay far away.
Room was well appointed- bedding, pillows, pull out bed. 2 sinks. Nice fresh room design.
The quiches at breakfast were delicious.
The sausage patties were a little dry at breakfast.
Location
Safe
No happy with the smoke alarms going off at 1:30 AM and 2:30 AM. No explanation or staff people coming outside to let you know what was going on.
Fire alarm went off twice 2 and 2:45 am without any reason or apology . Had a baseball tournament in the morning. Room smelled like mildew .. air conditioning sits an inch from the bed so we were freezing.. so glad we checked out
I first stayed here a few months ago and am often in the area for business. These rooms are great and offer a lot of space. Rooms come as advertised. The elevator all the way down the hall is a little shaky when it stops to open the doors, but other than that I haven't had any other concerns.
Having a Cracker Barrel .1 miles away was a nice surprise. Executive sweet was very spacious and comfortable.
A nice clean hotel. Breakfast is pretty rough. Rooms were clean. We had two TVs in our room and one remote was missing. They replaced it but it was not the correct one. Just little details were missing.
Location was great and staff very nice
Very accommodating for my family. Room was spacious for my family of 3( 2 adults and 1 child) and 1 pet(goldendoodle).
My children and I checked in late. The woman was very accommodating. Upon walking in the place looks well put together. I generally stay at Tru Hiltons but this was close off the interstate. I was quoted $160 for the night (above my Tru Hilton, but we were tired). So I pay and check in. I walk in the room, it smells pungent and stale. There was a dead roach in the window, ants in the bathroom and sink area, hair in the tub and there was some kind of hard crunch what I believe was part of the previous person food in the kitchen. I cleaned up stuff, went to bed. The next morning I promised the children swim time and anyone whom owns a pool knows that when kids are kicking and slashing around there should not be foaming bubbles. This water was nasty. I had them get out. We were almost home anyway where we have a CLEAN in ground pool. So we leave. 3 days later I check my bank account and I was charged $210 (not the $160) no I don’t smoke no pets and we had nothing from the snack area. So I would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE. There’s a beautiful place across the street. GO THERE!!!!
Also there so called breakfast for a Marriott hotel is the worst. Nothing for kids. Nothing I’d even eat. Old gross tangerines was the top choice of the morning.
