Absoutally brillant.
Pros:

An amazing historic venue warm and cozy in a winter wonderland. The dining hall with a open fire and cocktail bar was a real bonus. the gardens that surround the venue were also amazing.

Great stay but hot during the night
Pros:

The staff was lovely and helpful, the food was great, very good room.

Cons:

We had a west side room and it got so hot in the night. We had to completely turn off the heating and open the windows to sleep.

Pros:

Location is about the best you’ll get in Hanmer. The place is overall lovely and clean, and the staff are friendly.

Cons:

The sound proofing is a little lacking between rooms, so it’s easy to hear people walking down the hallways which are a bit creaky. The room was also a bit hot and difficult to cool, even near the end of winter. Beds could be a little more comfortable.

Make the detour- go to the new Hanmer spa.
Pros:

Special place isolated and wild. Great to see old building restored and kept alive. Grounds special. Simply and comfy room. Good food service, average wine, great staff.

Cons:

Ensure house staff do not move furniture into awkward places for the visitor.
