Had booked a spa break for 2 nights direct with Champneys so i thought, only realised error after 1 night.Booking .com was far more reasonable to add 2 night even adding dinner and lunch.
Lovely place and grounds. Helpful
Staff
The extra charges for an included breakfast rate. There was an additional charge for omelette and and speciality coffee (free filter coffee not good). Then a service charge on those items. Felt abit petty considering the money paid to stay overnight was quite high. I would have liked a swim but unfortunately as a disabled person there was no accessible options to get in and out of pool. It was an exceptionally hot day and no fans in the room meant I had a stifling hot night.
I recently visited Champneys Henlow and it was the perfect place for an active rest. The resort has beautiful, well-kept spaces throughout. The restaurant was excellent, featuring a great breakfast spread and lovely snacks at dinner.
I particularly enjoyed the open-air jacuzzi and the indoor pool, which is set in such a relaxing environment. The spa is fantastic, and they have a very complete gym. If you visit on a sunny day, it’s even better, as the gardens—complete with small waterfalls—are a wonderful place to unwind and escape the fast pace of daily life.
I appreciate it if they write that the price does not include the use of the SPA facilities and that there will be an additional cost.
It's a lovely spa, room was clean and great views. Lunch was great.
The lift was smelly but we only used it once.
The Spa is excellent
The hotel rooms are tired and poorly equipped for a premium destination.
Great facilities, friendly informative staff, nice building with lovely relaxing areas
Staff were incredible!! Everyone was so kind and welcoming, always willing to give you the time of day! I want to specially mention those who helped us in the restaurant when having a medical issue- our lovely server Ellie, and others who we did not catch the name of at the time but the lovely gentleman i believe may be restaurant manger/ host who showed us to the table but also personally came over and asked if we would like bread when he witnessed the situation and plus the lovely person with short hear and the cross earrings (loved the hair btw!!) for quickly responding and bringing over orange juice when needed.
Also would like to give special thanks to Jamila who helped my mum on several occasions - she was singing your praises the whole way home!
Everyone was so kind and friendly and it honestly added to the uplifting atmosphere of the spa!!
We also loved the grounds - it was lovely to get fresh air and walk around see the water! The greenhouse/ extension was a lovely peaceful bit to sit in and decompress. We also loved the chessboard/book table that this is our new project to make a replica!!
And of course we loved the swimming pool, hidryo pool and hot tub outside- everything was perfect and it defiantly left us feeling relaxed!!
Nothing negative just observations - but would hate this to take away from our stay
Breakfast was quite busy and i so understand its a small buffet and there is probably an preferential time to go but at times it was crowded with foods running out fast- but staff were very attentive trying to refill asap!
Our room had a few lady bugs they left bug spray in the room to help
overall amazing and would love to come back
Great value for money, lovely hotel, very friendly staff, bed, breakfast and evening meal and access to the spa and onsite parking. Food was amazing.
Had to step into bath for shower (not sure if all rooms are like this, I assume not) and shower head wasn’t brilliant at distributing water evenly. Shower gel in bathroom was empty so had to use the one by the sink
We love all the facilities
We like it all
Nice and old , grounds were nice
Run down, spa facilities were poor - water freezing cold. I left at 2am because the room was opposite the outside water feature that they had running all night so the noise made it impossible to sleep.
Comfortable stay
Just wanted to say that Lina that did my treatment was excellent.
Didn’t like shower curtain in bath, water leaked on the floor. Hot & cold water taps round the wrong way in sink.
The facilities were lovely, clean and the staff were great. Overall it was a great stay, however the bedrooms are in desperate need of renovation / refurbishment. If the rooms were updated and modernised this would be a first class stay
The bedrooms were old and beds were not fantastic. Did not match with the fantastic facilities.
A bit of investment in the bedrooms would go a massive way in improving the overall experience.
