Awesome location for walking and exploring all Old Port has to offer. Then you return to a comfortable room for a quiet, restful stay.
My spouse and I stayed here in June 2025 and again in July of 2026. The staff (from check-in, valet, housekeeping, restaurant wait staff, etc.) are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious, with very comfortable beds. The air conditioning works like a champ, which seems more important each year. The location is perfect for easy walking access to the Old Port and arts districts. And the brunch is excellent.
We had a wonderful time at the Portland Regency. The room was clean, the staff friendly. The Spa was amazing and the restaurants were easy to get into and the food was very good. The location is convenient to a lot of good food, shopping, and sights... all within walking distance.
Has a great location for exploring the Old Port and downtown. Request a room with a deck for more space and time outside. Breakfast in the hotel dining room is great, especially if you have John as your server. Desk staff could work a bit on being more welcoming and friendly upon arrival, rather than almost indifferent. Also, the wifi was crappy to non-existent, requiring logging in again and again and then sometimes not getting in at all! Very frustrating. Valet staff were great and helped a lot with what turned out to be a dead battery in our rental car's fob.
Excellent location. The staff is super helpful. Beautiful giant rooms with balconies that overlook all the action! The spa was phenomenal. It was great having gym.
Lovely property in the perfect location, easy to walk to everything. The King junior suite was huge (and priced accordingly of course). Housekeeping was so-so in terms of keeping the room well supplied with toiletries and towels but otherwise rooms were very clean. Would stay here again but perhaps in the off season when a little less expensive.
Pros:
* Beautiful, comfortable room with great amenities.
* Excellent location.
* Friendly staff throughout our stay.
* Sara at the front desk was fantastic and quickly moved us to a quieter room after our first night.
* Andrew, our valet, was professional, courteous, and wonderful.
Cons:
* We were initially placed in a room facing a bar with loud music until 1:00 a.m. Even with earplugs, we couldn’t sleep. For a $300+/night luxury hotel, this shouldn’t happen.
* The hotel is cash-only for tipping. In 2026, QR codes for digital tipping should be available for valet, housekeeping, etc.
* Breakfast was underwhelming, especially for the price. Very limited vegan options, only almond milk (oat or soy would be much better), oily avocado toast on basic bread, and disappointing potatoes. In a foodie city like Portland, we expected much better from a luxury hotel.
room placement, the tipping system and breakfast experience left room for improvement.
location
other guests talking loudly in the hallway outside our door
the room was very spacious and clean.
Would recommend for anyone to stay here! Great location. Amazing staff. We had young kids and they were extremely accommodating. The cookies for our toddler was a special touch that goes a long way. Everyone is polite and helpful!
We love the outdoor restaurant/bar area. So pleasant, good food/drinks, happy hour prices, great service and people watching. George from the kitchen checked on us—they seem to really care about providing a good experience
I had a wonderful experience at the Portland Regency Hotel, and I want to give special recognition to George, the chef. His attention to detail and passion for his craft truly stood out. The food was excellent and full of flavor. Chef George’s talent and professional approach made the experience even better. Thank you, Chef George, you’re a true asset to the hotel!
Kyle at the front desk was very professional and accommodating.
Literally in the thick of it all. Short walk to anything touristy
Walls thin. Noise travels. Very disturbing l. As I booked through Booking I did not have a room choice and had to either pick the noisest spot right on 1st floor corner where anyone from street could look in and my view was trash and a pan handler, or 2rd floor no bathtub with a view of a parking lot. Could have nothing in between. When I had to go a day earlier they could not change or refund my booking despite it costing $500+ a night as through "Booking" and not direct with them. Made me not.want to use the Booking service. I will not stay with them again.
location location location - right in the heart of Old Port. Comfortable room, well equipped gym, and spa. Valet parking.
$40 / night valet
We love The Regency. This is one of our favorite places to stay. The staff is always very accommodating & friendly. The location is perfect to stroll around the city. We had a room with a deck great place to sit outside, relax & read a book. Tried the Garden Cafe this time & truly enjoyed it. We love the breakfast at their restaurant. We stay here whenever we goto Portland & strongly recommend it.
Definitely stay here. The location is the best in town and the staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect and valet parking worked fine.
