Need hand rails in shower stalls.
Location location location!!! Bed was comfortable. Room was ok. Towels were plush, bathroom was a bit tight
In general, the hotel staff was excellent, and our overall experience was very positive. Unfortunately, our interaction with the evening bartender/lounge hostess was a notable exception.
While our party of six adults and two children was spending the evening in the lounge playing games, I took out a small chocolate bar to eat. The bartender approached me and rather sternly informed me that hotel policy prohibited outside food in the lounge. Even after I showed her that it was simply a chocolate bar, she repeatedly emphasized the “hotel policy” in a rigid and unnecessarily confrontational manner.
What made the interaction particularly surprising was that our group had been welcomed to use the lounge to play our own games, and we were actively patronizing the hotel—we had ordered coffee and desserts from the hotel that evening while enjoying time together. I certainly understand and respect reasonable hotel policies regarding outside food and beverages. However, there is a considerable difference between politely explaining a policy and making a guest feel as though they are being reprimanded over a chocolate bar.
I was taken aback by both the tone and handling of the situation. Given how friendly and accommodating the rest of the staff had been, this interaction felt especially out of character for the hotel and unfortunately detracted from an otherwise very enjoyable experience.
Car valet service was lickety-split. Complementary upgrade to suite was unexpected and appreciated. Location was perfect, and we enjoyed the character of the building.
We were not told that housekeeping services had to be requested, even though there was a tip envelope from housekeeping in the room and a "Do Not Disturb" doorknob hanger. And when we did request housekeeping, it took far too long to come. Our bed was not even straightened, much less anything like a turn-down service, just a bunch of towels plopped into the bathroom.
Excellent location and super comfy bed.
The bathroom was very dark. Bar was not open
The location is perfect. Shopping and restaurants are steps away. The staff were friendly. The valet staff were amazing - very helpful, friendly and courteous. We both had massages and they were so relaxing. Only one bartender when we went to the lounge for drinks but she was friendly, service was quick and she checked on us often. I highly recommend this hotel.
Another room's Room service tray was left out in the hall all day, even after housekeeping came through. It was eventually picked up late evening or early morning. But that's the only dislike.
The location was excellent.
The bed was not comfortable, the pillows were too hard, it was too expensive, there was no free lobby ( the guy at the reception said not to sit too long at the lobby without ordering a drink😟)..
The housekeeper ran the vaccuum at 8am on Sunday morning in the hall. The front desk is not friendly and seemed to not care about the maid. The spa staff were nice
Location - perfect
Rooms - FILTHY
Carpets - dirty/stained.
Value for a dirty room? No matter what you pay, a dirty room is unacceptable.
Valet staff - PERFECT
Room Service - on time and good although fries were "soggy"
Noise Level - not a problem.
Front Desk - not the most pleasant.
The service is absolutely the best. We needed to ship something home for camp and unfortunately the stores had closed. The team at regency said no problem and shipped it for us. We appreciate that level of service. Thanks for always taking care of us when we stay in Portland.
My kids also love seeing John in the restaurant every summer….he always makes them feel special.
We loved the hotel. The rooms were comfortable, it was in a great location, walkable to everything we wanted to visit, the front desk and valet staff were amazing! We will definitely choose to stay again.
I don't usually write reviews, but I had to hop on and write a review of this hotel. My family and I had spent a few days in Boston and headed to Portland for one night, a very quick stay. On arrival, we were greeted with very warm staff at the doors and the desk. The charming man at the desk told us our rooms weren't ready yet, but we didn't worry as we wanted to explore the city. The hotel is in a great location, and is a 5-10 minute walk to all the restaurants and ports for dinner. The beds were perfect - I had an extremely good sleep. There was the usual city noise outside of the room, but as Londoners it is nothing new and it didn't bother us at all. The shower was easy to use, and I'm very grateful for the Molton Brown toiletries! The room was perfectly clean and tidied. One thing that the hotel offered us in the morning was a shuttle bus to the station and airport. This was perfect, as it meant we didn't have to spend time ordering an Uber, and the shuttle was shared with one other couple. The atmosphere was extremely warm and cosy, it felt like the staff genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay. The hotel was worth the price, and it was more than we were expecting in reality for a one night stay. Thank you ! X
Great location on a very quiet street. Although the hotel’s dining room was closed for renovations, the hotel did expand the hours and the menu of their Garden Cafe across the street. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxed meal in the guest garden setting. And the staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient.
I sure would have loved to have had either a waffle or a bagel with salmon on the breakfast menu.
Perfect location, walking distance to all the local must see places. Hotel staff was very polite and helpful. Best drinks in town. Very comfortable bed and clean hotel.
Amazing staff, responsive, friendly - Karen was a joy, free good coffee 12 o’clock checkout
The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was warm, friendly, and always willing to help, with special recognition to PDG at the front desk for providing exceptional service. The spa and gym were a wonderful bonus, offering a great place to relax and recharge. The restaurants served delicious food, and the hotel's location was perfect for exploring the area. Overall, it was an outstanding stay, and we would happily return.
