I’ll start by saying the food is amazing, so much choice and very tasty. The choice of drinks not so good. They’ve stopped selling beer/cider, and my partner would have loved an ice cold one on what has been the hottest day so far this year. The soft drinks are my bug bear because their version of Coca Cola is very unpleasant, and as I don’t drink I would love to have a nice cold coke. It seems strange that for health reasons they stopped selling beer, yet I could buy a bottle of wine and drink it all had I wanted to.
We have been here quite a few times and I feel that the place is looking a bit dated and a little worse for wear. It could do with a spruce up and a little updating in areas. The seat covers for the outside recliners are disgustingly marked, and it’s things like this that mark it down just a little.
The food quality, and the friendly staff mean it’s only lost one star, but I think it needs money spending on it, however I’m sure when they do that then the prices will massively increase as they won’t want the expense eating into company profits!
The best massage treatment by Lana from the Ukraine. Thank you for listening. Your wealth of experience certainly shows in the treatments you give.
Me and my friend had a spa day here to take some time to relax. I had been before but it was my friends first time at champneys. We absolutely loved it. There’s a stream room and sauna in each of the changing rooms and a mixed sauna in the main pool room along with jacuzzi’s and an indoor swimming pool. The staff are amazing and very friendly especially catrina over at the restaurant she remembered me and my friends name and said hello every time she saw us which boost our experience massively. She was an absolute delight! Very bright and smiley she also check in making sure we had a great experience. Will definitely be returning again :)!!
Lovely room
We’ve been coming here for 2 decades now and we’ve never ever had anything but the best experience - the vibe there is one of instant relaxation. We recognise most of the staff, who have been there for a long time (always a good sign!) - Carol is wonderful, we catch up every time we see her and she’s always so welcoming and friendly. Food is always on point, spa facilities are lovely, wouldn’t stay at any other spa - may Champneys Springs continue to be our 6 monthly pilgrimage for as long as possible! Keep up the good work folks, you’ve got an atmosphere no other spa I’ve tried has.
Not a lot
Where to start with this question. The overall vibe of this establishment is that its a health club with rooms. I noticed that if you had limited mobility this was not the place for you. Whilst there was a wheelchair ramp there were also a great number of stairs to negotiate especially if you wished to access the spa service floor, although there was some kind of mystery route you could take if you couldn't take the stairs. Like many health clubs they cater mainly for day members with paying hotel guests seeming to take a back seat. The pool area was disability unfriendly & even for fit people the loungers were so low to the floor that you may as well just lay a towel on the tiles & lay on that. There were beds which were more comfortable but limited in number. The jacuzzi area had a limit on how many people could get in which is difficult if there is a constant stream of day members, when you did get into it I didn't find it relaxing at all. The steam and sauna facilities in the respective changing areas were small. Overall not worth the additional cost. The room was basic and no walk in shower - apparently the number of disabled friendly rooms are very limited. The overall feel of the building reminded me of a college accommodation not an established quality hotel a view reinforced when the buckets appeared to catch water from a leaking ceiling. The restaurant menu was limited & thank god I wasn't there for any length of time because I would have struggled to choose something different each evening & it would have been nice to have been informed that the breakfast menu was vegetarian only but I did learn that there is a contamination risk by mixing eggs with mushrooms so I guess everyday is a school day. The only good experience was the spa treatment which was professional but you can get the same for 50% less from your local beauty specialist. I thought the Champney's brand meant quality but I was disappointed to find out...
Everything
Thank you to Holly on the cafe bar. So friendly and helpful when we weren't sure what to choose. Our lovely chat made our evening 😍
Had a lovely time here, Oriel was so helpful and looked after us really well when we wanted to extend our stay and had lots of questions. She was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. I also had a massage treatment with Lana which was phenomenal, she made me feel so comfortable and was so kind and professional, the massage was brilliant. We only spent 24 hours here but came away feeling like we’d been on holiday!
Easily accessed for my friend and I. Facilities were good and cocktail lounge, restaurant and gym all very tasteful and modern. Great breakfast offer.
Hallways and main lobby look a little dated.
Nothing
Facilities were poor, pool/hot tub cold. Steam room is in the changing rooms so this isnt couple friendly. We didnt get to use them. Bedroom was awful, broken shower, window. Twin beds pushed together not even same height and so low to the floor. Bin in bathroom had not been emptied. No main light in bedr9om just lamps so poor lighting to get ready.. beyond dissapointed. Bar was xlosed by 11pm.. no staff around anywahere. Not even reception in evening. Room service stops at 9.30. Its all poor. Breakfast was awful too.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another Perfect Stay at Champneys Springs
I arrived on Sunday afternoon to the warmest of welcomes from all the staff. A very special mention goes to Carol Harvey, the fantastic manager who runs Champneys Springs so brilliantly. Her leadership is reflected throughout the resort, and it's easy to see why the atmosphere is so welcoming and professional. Champneys Springs truly feels like my second home.
I would also like to give a very special mention to Michelle. She is such a wonderful, beautiful person, both inside and out. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her, and she always goes out of her way to help with a smile. Michelle's kindness, professionalism and caring nature shine through in everything she does. She is a true credit to Champneys, and I always look forward to seeing her. It was also lovely to meet HJ, a fantastic new addition to the team.
One of the real highlights of my stay was seeing Sasima, who runs the café. She is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever wish to meet. She came over to give me a lovely cuddle, which made me feel so welcome. Her warmth and caring personality create such a happy atmosphere, and it's clear how much she cares about both her team and the guests. She has also done a wonderful job mentoring Holly. The last time I visited, Holly was still quite new, but she has blossomed into a confident, friendly and capable member of the team—a real credit to Sasima's guidance and encouragement.
I also had an amazing massage with Janet, who was absolutely superb. It was one of the best treatments I've had and left me feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated.
Lucy and Bryany in the restaurant were fantastic, always friendly, attentive and professional, making every meal a pleasure. Peter and Rob were fabulous too, always cheerful, helpful and a pleasure to chat to.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Champneys Springs. Every member of the team goes above and beyond to make guests feel special. Your kindness, professionalism and genuine care are what make Champneys Springs such an exceptional place to visit. I always leave feeling refreshed, looked after and already looking forward to my next stay.
Thank you all for another unforgettable experience. I can't wait to return!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolutely love Champneys Springs. We visit every 6 months and always have a really relaxing time .
This time was no different apart from we chose to stay overnight .
I had a fabulous massage from Lena which was just what I needed . She was so lovely and I felt so relaxed afterwards.
All of our meals were absolutely delicious and the service excellent. Harry was brilliant and really great at recommending the best things to eat .
Overall , a wonderful time .
I have visited Champneys Spings on many occasions, both for spa days and spa stays. This latest visit was a 3 night spa break with my good friend. Our package included a different spa treatment for each day. We had an amazing time and loved our treatments, which were facials, pedicures and whole body cocoon treatments. The staff at Springs are amazing and always so friendly. They are so accommodating too. We were very late checking in on the first day and wanted to rearrange our treatments so we could relax. This was no problem for them. I met Peter, the Guest Relations Manager for the first time and thanked him for some other changes he made for us. As always the food was amazing with lots of choice. I have been to the other Champneys resorts such as Tring and Henlow, but always find myself wanting to go back to Springs. The facilities are fantastic including a state of the art gym and a huge hydro pool to relax in. The ladies day guest changing rooms, behind Reception, are worth making the trip to Springs to see and use! The only thing I would love to see at Springs are the waterbeds, which both Tring and Henlow have. I am hoping this will come at some point. Some outdoor hydro pools or jacuzzis would be wonderful for the warmer months there too. It is still my favourite though and I am already planning my next trip back to Springs!
Me and my friend visited for a spa afternoon after having a quick tour we were greeted at the fitness desk by Millie. She was so welcoming and informative of everything about our stay, she was very friendly and helpful. She made our experience!!
Excellent parking and lovely grounds, on first impression it looks like a good quality hotel but many areas were dated. Swimming pool and other facilities around were excellent.
My evening dinner was on the whole ok, but the starter of a mozzarella salad was served in an extremely hot bowl. Mentioned to staff but no apology or offer to change.
Room was very dated and not very clean. Bathroom was dated with mould in many areas, no shower curtain for shower above the bath so floor flooded.
Very nice location, property and very helpful staff.
No air-con in the room, the fan was broken. the tv remote was very unresponsive, probably flat battery...
