The location. Being right on the ocean was the highlight! The views were stunning and it was the only highlight from our stay.
The room was not clean. The carpet was ripped up in places (they told me they were remodeling). Markings on the wall, like scratches and pen marks. There was an unknown white substance sprayed across the headboard. There was hard mass of food/vomit dried on the wall next to the radiator. The room had an odor of vomit. And the toilet would leak when flushed.
When I went to discuss concerns with staff at front desk, they were more interested in continuing their conversation instead of addressing guests.
Staffing seemed short in the restaurant.

The toilet didn’t flush unless the tap was turned on.
Hotel door wouldn’t lock or close behind me when let go it would stay open. Only noticed this when walking to our room and noticed other rooms the same.
This was our return visit after a number of years, so we hope for great things........
Check in was okay, taxi booked for that night ( 'you can book one but they generally don't turn up!').
The room ....... Clean but it was missing a room check by anyone in management! Please see the pictures!
Surprise, surprise the taxi didn't turn up..... Multiple phone calls and a taxi turned up.
Great night in a local restaurant 10 out 10 (Pasta Castello, Donabate. Highly recommend!!)
By a ' helping angel' we got back to the hotel.
A very pleasant evening watching Dublin bay north was had.
The next morning on check out the front of staff where shown the attached pictures (to the reaction ' I'll have house keeping look')

Litter outside (Broken brush just dumped in flower bed.)
Screw sticking out on garden furniture (which could do with a paint)
Cutlery in grass (I picled it up and put on garden furniture on Wednesday night was still there on Saturday when leaving .
Location amazing
The room felt a bit tired, shower head needs a clean and bathroom tap loose, a bit of a freshen up with some paint and mentioned issues. Don’t let this put you off. Everything else great
Overall, the hotel was okay. The location was beautiful, right on the sea.
Cleanliness was a problem. The window seat, where you could sit and watch and listen to the sea, was subpar. The seat was so dirty I was afraid to sit there. There were coffee stains and maybe some other drinks, but the dirt embedded in the fabric reminded me of some black grease. Disgusting. This shouldn't be happening.
Terrible food unfortunately we really tried here but couldn’t get a desert result.
Also reception greeting was nonexistent from front of desk. Shame
Although the waitress we had was lovely and it wasn’t her first complaint.

Dirty unkept hotel

Had a delicious meal here today with my daughter, she had the seafood tagliatelle and I had the chicken roast. The food was beautiful but the roast had very little gravy so I asked for more and I was charged €2 for it & it came in a tiny pot. Wasn’t happy about that. Staff are fantastic & you can’t beat the views. It won’t stop me returning, we eat here regularly.
