Arrived in town with a reservation at another hotel that I never confirmed... Started driving threw town and asking for a room. The Sheridan was our 3rd attempt and they had 1 room left, we were willing to pay most anything and the Sheridan not only offered us their last room, they gave us a discount as the last room backed up to the Opera that had a show that night until 11PM.
Great room and when we asked for another hour to stay to noon the next day and take a hike they agreed to that as well.
Great coffee, very accomodating staff, specifically Carl/Karl.
Thank you and we will be back.
Great hotel with an amazing provenance but very downhill compared to previous years. The staff is great and they have a winning attitude but the details disappoint this year. "Breakfast" is now served from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (terrible for skiers), a change from previous years. When we asked why we were told they had to lay off a lot of staff because of the tough ski season. Coffee one morning was not available because the hotel had "run out of filters". We were told they would buy some as soon as a local store opened where they could buy more. This seems like an issue management could have anticipated.
The owner/manager seemed to always have a scowl on his face.. We were staying at the hotel and also ate two dinners there (one was $750 for the three of us) and he never approached us to engage and speak with us or check in on us despite being always close by. He seemed more concerned with arranging chairs than engaging with his guests. I worked for many years in hospitality in NYC at top restaurants and I know when management is disengaged and the staff has to overcompensate.
Service was friendly and warm but lots of kitchen errors (we were served another table's entrees as soon as we sat down one evening, and then one of us received his salad while the rest of us waited for the other appetizers to arrive. They didn't until we called attention to it and then we were served the wrong appetizers, which they corrected, but it was a bit of a comedy of errors from the kitchen).
Again, the servers are excellent but it seems management/ownership has checked out. I know it was a tough year for Telluride but that is no excuse for the absence of graciousness. Hospitality is a verb as well as a noun, and ownership seems to have forgotten that.
Sad to say this year it was hard to justify the expense of staying there.
The New Sheridan Chophouse is a good place to go to get a nicer dinner in telluride. Overall, the food was great, but I was not as impressed with the service. When I go to a steakhouse, I expect to have warm, friendly, helpful servers; here I found that I felt rushed from the moment we came in the door at the host stand. Our server also was not the greatest. I have high expectations for service at restaurants like this, so I was disappointed to feel rushed and really just not a priority for our server. All of this to say, the food was really great. As one does at a steak house, I got the filet... with blue cheese added. It was cooked perfectly and the blue cheese was a must add-on. Everyone at my table was happy with their dishes- from the crab beignets to the onion soup to the sea bass. I would consider going back if I were wanting a good steak, but for the prices I would expect better service!
Very clean, extremely friendly and helpful staff and location can’t be beat.
Nothing, everything was perfect!
The incomparable pearl of Telluride. This remains the only place to stay in town, I can say after nine stays over almost as many years. Home-like, friendly, central, understated and attached to one of the town's most fashionable restaurants, the place can't be beat. Housekeeping takes care of everything, rooms are small but cozy and you never feel you're staying in a hotel here, only your best friend's home. We can never get enough of this.
did not eat at restaurant
didn't need for anything
I love coming to Telluride to stay in this marvelous sweet hotel with fantastic management. They make me feel like i am always coming home! Its a true blessing to behold! great beds linens bathrooms so cozy and every room is well appointed. I think its the best deal in tride
Sarah at the front desk was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Your shower water pressure is a 10! Very important factor. Every single staff member was classy & ever so helpful.
I do hope you value them as much as we did. Because you are nothing without them.
I was surprised that it did not have Air Conditioning! That was a big factor for sleeping. even though overall It was pretty high temperatures while we stayed in Telluride.
Property was nice but needs tweaking , and staff need more training !
Member of staff very rude , not welcoming at all , very noisy from tables been moved around early morning 5.30am ! Two of the 3 days we stayed , When we told them, we were told .that can’t be there hotel ? Or it must have come from opera house ? But actually it was the hotel roof top bar above our room been put straight from night before drinking , no AC , not even bottle water in room , you had to pay for it ! Fan was very dirty when you turned it on I kept sneezing with the dust off it
Was suppose to be a Deluxe king with city view? But it was a back alley view with a vender down side of it making tacos ! When u opened window to cool room down all u could smell was tacos
Very small room for a deluxe room lol , even had to ask for a small refrigerator for medication that had to be chilled , which was plonked on floor , no where to put it on sides
Not even charging ports at bedsides
Not a good impression was left about the hotel , which is a shame as it has potential to be so good just needs tweaking with staff and amenities in rooms
Wouldn’t go back to expensive for what they offer you ;(
Great location downtown. Room was comfortable but windows looked out into another building and its windows making room very dark and not airy. Defiantly get a room the views the street or mountains.
Great room, super comfortable. Huge that the staff dealt with the local parking permit. And the coffee downstairs at 5am was a help but coffee in room 10x better.
No coffee or tea set in the room. Impossible to connect my laptop to the internet. A huge issue and time waster. Locked windows! Who wants HVAC instead of fresh mountain air? Lobby restaurant area too busy.
Excellent location, superstars and wonderful amenities
Breakfast was really good.
The person waiting on us wasn't very friendly the morning we ate breakfast. She seemed quite annoyed that we ask for hot coffee (it was not hot when she served it to us). She never came back to our table. I've never experienced this before. I just thought you should know.
Great location in an old building. Very comfortable. Loved the comfy robes and slipper’s.
Would have liked a coffee maker in the room.
