Good for one night but probably won’t use again.
Pros:

Great location, excellent for the AO Arena and Opera House, plus shopping. Expected it to be noisy but it was quiet considering we stayed on a Friday night.
Room was a good size with kettle, iron and ironing board - but no hairdryer!

Cons:

No hot water to the shower 🥶. There is a sign saying hot water is slow to reach the room but it didn’t arrive at all…
Staff were lovely but we asked for two items with breakfast and they never arrived.

Satisfied
Pros:

The staff were great I booked a double room for myself and a friend but was actually given a family room at no extra cost which meant we both had separate beds. The room met my expectations for the price.

Cons:

The building is very old which is said on the advert so some of the flooring is quite uneven. Their is lack of a decent size bin incase of any rubbish and the drinking glasses are quite small.

Great location and great value in one of manchesters character buildings..
Pros:

Excellent location…5 minutes to train station and in middle of everything

Cons:

Only one plug for the bedside lamp so couldn’t have phone charging without unplugging lamp…grey decor throughout was a bit too gloomy…needs a rethink!

An absolutely disgusting, poorly maintained room with questionable cleanliness and hygiene standards that fell far below

Extremely Disappointing – Poor Cleanliness and Standards

The moment we entered our room, we were hit by a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. The window had been left slightly open, presumably in an attempt to air the room out. However, as shown in the photo, cigarette ends had been stuffed onto the window ledge, seemingly left behind by previous guests. This was our first impression, and unfortunately, things only got worse from there.

I went to reception to complain about the smell and was given a bottle of air freshener.

The carpet was covered in holes and stains, making the room look neglected and poorly maintained. The toilet roll holder was broken and hanging off the wall. The bathroom itself was far from acceptable, with the toilet positioned so close to the wall that you had to sit on it at an awkward sideways angle. The showerhead was visibly filthy, raising serious concerns about how thoroughly the bathroom was being cleaned. Above the shower, the wall covering was peeling away, with what appeared to be damp patches adding to the already poor condition of the room.

The bedding was equally concerning. On inspecting the sheets, we found brown stains, which is completely unacceptable in any hotel room. There were also what appeared to be dried liquid stains running down the walls. The overall cleanliness and condition of the room fell well below any reasonable standard of accommodation.

To make matters worse, the shower’s power switch was tucked away in a corner of the bedroom, outside the bathroom and directly above my son’s bed. We spent ages trying to work out how to operate the shower, as nobody at reception had informed us of its location.

The staff I encountered were okay, but unfortunately, that does not make up for the appalling state of the room itself. The hotel was fully booked, meaning we had no option to move rooms.

I would not recommend. It was horrible.
Pros:

Excellent location and good breakfast.

Cons:

There were other guests smoking in their rooms the smell was awful. The toilet was dirty, the shower was either too hot or freezing. The carpets needed replacing, there was damp flaking paint patches in our room. There wasn’t any wifi available in our room, only available in the restaurant. The stairs were extremely narrow and uneven, dangerous to walk up or down.

Mixed feelings
Pros:

Location was perfect,the bar downstairs was fun. The view to the cathedral was beautiful.
The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very nice.

Cons:

I booked a room with a big tub for a reason.
But we didn’t had hot or warm water at the first night so we had to “fill up “ the tub with water we boiled in the kettle….
That’s unacceptable i think.

The radiator didn’t had knob on so no chance to turn the heat up or down. Our room was like a sauna.

There was also a weird dirty storage unlocked and connected to our room .

Excellent location and value. Lovely staff.

Location excellent next to cathedral. I had a comfortable nights stay. Nothing fancy and small room
but very acceptable at a keen price

Staff were excellent and professional and carried by bag both up and down the stairs. Would definitely stay again
