Location, bedroom, breakfast
Would have been good if more places to sit and relax not near the pools
The location was within delivery distance on Deliveroo…
There were a number of issues throughout the spa and hotel that made it hard to relax. Many of the wet areas had visible limescale and mould, including the steam room, sauna, cold plunge and pool areas. We also noticed tiles falling off walls, loose or exposed screws, and several changing room locks that didn't work. There were not enough lockers available, and some of the lockers were broken.
The spa was also extremely busy, to the point where we couldn't use majority of the facilities at all. This made the experience feel crowded and stressful rather than calm and enjoyable.
The bedroom itself was also disappointing. The mattress felt very old and extremely firm, and I woke up with a bad back as a result. The overall attention to detail in the room was lacking - even the pillowcase had been put on inside out, which doesn't match the standard we expected.
There were further issues in the dining and accommodation areas, including a large stain and a broken chair at breakfast, an awkwardly positioned toilet directly adjacent to the sanitary bin, and a shower head in the bedroom that did not extend high enough for my 6ft partner to use comfortably. Additionally, the system around robe monitoring created an atmosphere of distrust that detracted from the sense of luxury we had expected.
These issues made the stay feel well below the standard advertised and not reflective of the Champneys brand or the price paid.
They gave us a room upgrade. Staff are so friendly and clearly enjoy their jobs . Thankyou
Nothing. Breakfast was lovely and the spa is amazing.
Clean , food was good , stuff are very friendly.
Is all good 😊
A luxury spa place, popular with couples. Attractive building, with restaurant, coffee place, spa, sauna, hydro pool, shop. Friendly and helpful staff. Bedroom spacious, with comfortable bed with firm mattress, coffee/tea making equipment, shower over bath and a door leading out into the garden. Nice tote bag with bathrobes and flipflops. Breakfast healthy, with fruit salad, avocado, boiled eggs, etc. We really liked the hydro pool
Breakfast too healthy, no bacon and sausages! The swimming pool was out of order, which meant the hydropool and sauna were extra busy. There are very few loungers for the amount of people that attend. Only 2 disabled parking spaces that were taken the whole time we were there, which meant we had a long trek from our room to the reception area, and then out to the parking area.
No bar in the building, restaurant is quite pricey. We went to a pub in Tring on the 2nd evening.
Lovely facility Amazing food, and tranquil setting
As I had to be out early I was unable to get breakfast due to the time it started (7:30) not the end of the world but would of like to of been able to make the most of this.
Looked nice..
No poached eggs
The hotel was in a lovely setting. The staff were all very friendly. I really liked having the fluffy robe and slippers.
The property is in need of a major decor update. We noticed a lot of stain marks on the ceilings, cracks in paint work and it all looked a bit tired and out dated in some areas.
The breakfast was awful. The hot food was cold and the selection was limited. You had to pay for a decent coffee.
The grounds are large, lots of facilities and things to do. The staff are friendly and helpful (when you can get them).
The breakfast was terrible - some of the reviews said the breakfast was good which was one of the reasons for booking but it was horrendous, hard/stale bagels, grey eggs.
The spa facilities are tired and were unbelievably busy, people standing up in the steam room and sauna just to get a spot.
The rooms are comfortable, but tired/old. Smelt musky.
Service team are clearly understaffed - one of our bath towels were dirty, called and asked house keeping for a new one, they never sent one. I tried ringing 4-5 before I arrived to book a treatment for my wife, took 15 mins before I actually got through to someone.
Clean and fresh staff absolutely lovely and so helpfully
The hotel was really nice and clean
I didn’t like when we told the receptionist we couldn’t stay for breakfast she told us we lost our availability for to enjoy the swimming pool and sauna which I didn’t understand when I paid for it so we decided to leave that night the hotel that was a bit of disappointed.
Very good
