Facilities were great- room was lovely and spacious with a good view. the pool, sun loungers and sauna steam and plunge pool were all excellent, but may be a bit small for busy times and lots of people.
Breakfast was limited- health spa menu so no hearty meaty foods; dinner we had steaks which were over-done.. we wanted medium and medium rare and they werent. Check-in at 5 and out at 11 doesnt give you much time to enjoy the facilities so reduces the enjoyment as everything feels rushed and we're there to chill and relax.
Glorious location , stunning grounds to wander in after lovely treatments, massage et; - very relaxing great for reset.
Catering (restaurant and a cafe) felt like they were run for the benefit of the admin: team not for the guests. Because management had clearly cut back on hiring to save money the staff on duty were fantastic but were so overworked. Also annoying constantly being asked to book a time for breakfast, lunch and dinner - one member of staff told me if didn’t book a time for lunch (after checkout) we would be asked to leave the premises - excessive corralling of guests IMO spoiling an otherwise peaceful experience.
the room was a great size, the staff on the whole were helpful and actually felt like they enjoyed their roles. the salmon was cooked very well
the food - the casear salad was quite poor - it was bland and basic. The deconstructed lunch cheesecake was not very good to be honest, myself and a most of us didnt' eat it. The salmon was cooked very well; however, the brocoli was slightly undercooked and on some friends' plates, the cabbage was very much undercooked
The waiting staff were really slow and looked bored - when you choose work in hospitality, treating your guests to a smile and manners is extremely important
My mirror was dirty, my room had a used tissue left on the floor, the blind in the bathroom could have done with a clean
The location and the nature surrounding the place is stunning.
The facilities and the rooms are tired, dated, and in desperate need of refurbishment. The toilets are particularly outdated. There is no air conditioning, so you’re expected to open the windows, but that simply lets the mosquitoes in, making it very uncomfortable.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the level of hospitality. The staff were generally unwelcoming and lacked the warmth and attentiveness you would expect from a wellness retreat. The café food and coffee were also below average.
To make matters worse, check-in isn’t until 5:00 pm, while check-out is 10:00 am.
Champneys has the potential to be a wonderful destination, but it urgently needs investment in its facilities and, more importantly, a complete rethink of its customer service and hospitality standards. They could certainly learn a thing or two from the hospitality industry in Dubai.

Grounds are nice
Room was ridiculous hot , no air con and just a small dirty fan.
Paint flaking off the walls.
Mould in shower.
Noisy.
Beautiful grounds, very nice pool, sauna, steam room etc
There is no air conditioning, room was stifling.
The rooms were not clean, very warm no ac in the superior rooms either, some lights not working in room
Bath was not been cleaned properly very slippery
My colleagues room carpet was ripped waited 20 minutes to be seated for breakfast, asked two times for menu, then no one came to get the order finally called someone over ordered breakfast for four and one was totally wrong, when you pay top dollar for your rooms and it’s rated four star but end up getting less than 2 star service

• Spa facilities and staff were good.
• Food and beverages were of a decent quality.
• Front of house is utterly chaotic. Needs more staff and competent management.
• Restaurant is utterly chaotic. Needs more staff and competent management.
• Dated. In desperate need of investment and refurbishment.
• Don’t bother calling reception; 15 attempted calls over two days and not answered once.
The room was spacious and it was nice having doors leading onto a patio with chairs and a table.
On our last visit we enjoyed a cooked breakfast. However, this time, just a few weeks later it had changed to a continental breakfast. I queried this and was offered a menu where I could order eggs, toast, avocado etc at an additional cost. I feel this is unfair as the price I paid in advance did not decrease to reflect the lack of breakfast options.
Spa! For sure worth that! Nice swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. And also very beautiful and peaceful property.
- room - was ok, but bed was make somehow. The furniture was old and damaged.
- breakfast - we was so disappointing . Only cold food,no hot buffet. Fruit selection was very bad. We came at 9:30 and it was only few slices of melon there.
- tv didn’t work, because as they told us internet signal was weak
- no fridge in the room
Breakfast and food excellent
It is inconceivable that a premium hotel like this DOES NOT have air conditioning or showers in the spa that have no temperature control. My room was unbearably hot and looked very tired.
Beautiful grounds, lovely walking spaces. Everyone really helpful and friendly
Unfortunately, the main course of my evening meal was not good. I had the impression it was made some hours ago and left to be reheated. It was tasty but dry, not what a ragu should be
Easy to get around
Some of the facilities were not working
The outside view and garden area and when you enter the reception area smells lovely
Everything is very dated. For a spa. The bedrooms dusty, old not traditional old, tired, old bathrooms cracked.
No air con. Fans not great. Bed uncomfortable twins joined together pillows extremely uncomfortable didn’t sleep at all.
If the rooms were better we would return for a spa stay, but with how the rooms I know I wouldn’t sleep and go relax reset sleep is important.
Needs a much needed upgrade
Calm countryside location
Difficult to find. Distance to car park from reception.
