Staff were very welcoming and the children liked the blue lights in the bathroom. Aircon worked really well too.
There weren't that many food options at breakfast.

The staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful where possible. The hotel was clean and still has daily housekeeping which many hotels do not provide nowadays. The breakfast was fine.
Our bathroom had no extractor fan which was not good, especially considering the heat during the time we were there. The The finaltelevision remote did not work due to it not being compatible with the tv; this was realised by one of the staff members who came to change the battery. Milk sachets in the room had curdled and when I asked for replacements the ones I was given were in the same condition. Surely the hotel could have rules in place that during very hot weather such products should be refrigerated until the guests arrive, not left in the rooms.A staff member brought a pot of tea to our room, with fresh milk from the fridge. This was after I had been downstairs to reception three times as the hotel had removed all internal phones from the rooms.

Menial things really
My stay at this hotel has been the very worst experience had at an hotel. Booking was for one overnight stay. And was to avoid the drive back to London following attendance at a celebration.
In the early hours on the morning of the 14th June I retired to bed after 01.00, I woke 20 minutes later having felt some itching on my lower arm. I completely covered myself to prevent whatever it was that had caused the discomfort. But a short time later again I was woken with more severe discomfort and constant itching. So leaving the bed to check what the problem was, in the bathroom. The itching was intense and I could see swelling on my forehead and my arms also the itching to my back was uncomfortable. All I could do was to continuously use cold water to eliminate the itching and get the swelling down. Finally at 06.30 I got my belongings together and left the room to sit in reception. A staff member was there so I informed him of this awful experience he began to do something on the computer whilst saying he would go to the room. I asked him for his complaint procedure again he spoke of needing to check the room. He also stated another room was available he was told my booking was an overnight stay. Again he was asked for complaints policy. To the end of his shift-when he left the hotel he did not return to me or give me his complaint procedure. I received verbal procedure after having to approach and again inform a staff member who arrived later. Whilst at the hotel I emailed the manager as instructed. I informed manager of unfortunate experience. On return to London some hours later I received manager’s response, I was informed an investigation would be carried out. The manager also asked for picture proof a day later. Of course I don’t have photos of the injure at the time of incident because I was busy swabbing to stop itching and getting the swelling down. However I took photos and sent to manager. It’s been 2 weeks since contact with the Hotel manager and still there’s been no response or any information regarding their investigation outcome.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL
Staff good. Pity the Holiday Inn sign if covered by overgrown shrubs and cannot be seen from the roundabout. No signs, not even and obligatory hotel and arrow one on the verge. First view 'its a service area for petrol and snacks'. Second view 'How the hell do they expect punters to find them, such a weird place to build a hotel'. Once inside it was excellent. Asked for a disabled room and actually got one. First ever HIExp that accepted on line request although sadly no confirmation mail. Breakfast excellent as usual and staff really good except the male receptionist on nights who was very disinterested and abrupt but girls on duty very enthusiastic. Impossible to contact hotel directly as HI phone ssytem through overseas central cust-service never gets an answer back to you. Worst experience ever trying to make a booking but I persist as service and facilities throughout the group is consitantly 4 or 5 star. WARNING : prepare to be bombarded via ermail with their rewards program messages which is not explained and is totally confusing and will shortly be unsubscribed to from this end.

The air conditioner is very loud, had to be turned off at night. The next day it broke during the day, water dripped, soaking the bed underneath it.

Hotel very clean. Location perfect for us. Very pleasant smiling helpful staff.
We had our dog with us. The hotel is dog friendly on arrival at reception we were given a goody bag for her. I thought this very welcoming to her.
