I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the conditions at your hotel on the night of August 31, 2025. My friend and I checked in around 9:00 PM with a pleasant employee and initially had a positive experience.
However, when we returned to the hotel around midnight, we were shocked to find the premises abandoned and unsecure. There were no cars in the parking lot, the main entrance door was wide open, and office and reception desk were dark. A sign at the front desk stated, "We are closed any emergency call 911."
This situation was not only deeply unsettling but also created a significant safety risk. Due to these alarming conditions, we did not feel safe staying at the hotel. We immediately collected our belongings from our room and left the premises to find other accommodations.
We got a last minute booking quite literally 30 minutes before showing up. The property is in the middle of renovations but you can't beat the price for a last minute booking. They offered a hot breakfast and fresh coffee which was greatly appreciated. The staff was very kind and welcoming, made check in and check out a breeze!
The guy who called me to tell the bad news took it upon himself to try and help find us a room in the area. That was the best he could do, and I am appreciative of his efforts.
I was called the day of my reservation notifying me that the room was under renovation and not available. This was when i was leaving my house to travel 6 plus hours.
The room was wheelchair accessible with a roll in shower, we travel with a power wheelchair. Limited option in the area with availability.
The location, was close yet, not too close to the downtown attractions. The area is very peaceful. It's easy to get to everything in 5 minutes.
I could tell that it was an old Country Inn Suites, you could also see the renovations and upgrades being made yet, not an inconvenience. The manager was very hands on, always cleaning or doing something for the betterment of the hotel, great guy.
They're updating the hotel and thats cool. They had all the handicap parking blocked
Let me start by saying we have stayed at this location within the last year and a half when it was the Country Inn & Suites and we didn’t have any issues, it is an older hotel but was better than this visit. Upon our arrival this time, the front desk clerk Jay (clerk not the property owner) was wonderful when we checked in. He was probably the best part of our stay. Everything else was not great. The entire 3rd floor of the property was being gutted and the remainder of the hotel was disgusting. The floors were covered in caked up stains and dirt, the place had not been dusted(tables in lobby were covered), walls were dirty, and vents in the lobby were leaking what looked to be like water. Our room wasn’t horrible but we ended up sleeping on top of the covers never unmaking the bed. Housekeeping only comes every 3 days according to the sign in the lobby. The breakfast consisted of stale cereal, bread, and bagels. The eggs and sausage looked like they were sitting in liquid. Anytime I went to the front desk after initial check in there was no one to be found. Dave yourself the disappointment.
We liked everything
This property was atrocious. I have stayed in quite a few hotels and I can honestly say this was at the bottom. The front desk staffer was polite, but this was the only positive of our interaction with this “hotel.” The hotel lot was empty which should have been our first clue to run. The bed skirts and mattresses were filthy, the a/c was on full blast and was not able to be adjusted, so we were freezing cold the entire night, there were holes in the comforters, that looked like it had been mauled by a dog, the tub looked dirty, the shower head was gross and barely worked. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, it was a complete waste of money and I am thoroughly disappointed. I will never visit this hotel or use Expedia to book ever again.
It was in a good location, was a good price, and the front desk staff was very nice
We arrived late due to the airline losing luggage. We were supposed to have a family room with two beds and a sofa bed. Upon entering, the room had not been cleaned at all. Bedding piled up or on floor, trash in bins, cups on table, towels on floor. We notified staff. To his dismay, the cleaning staff hadn’t cleaned any of the rooms on that floor. He got us into two rooms instead at no additional charge, so that kind. But the room was definitely in need of some love. The tub was very stained and scuffed. The lamp beside the bed was completely covered in black mold on the backside. I don’t know if there was more mold elsewhere, but it smelled musty in the room.
Location and price
First room they gave us wasn’t cleaned and we were told the next morning it would be so my kids could be next to us like originally planned. However, it never got cleaned till the last day of the week. Plus we were told to leave the dining area at 1130 from playing a board game when it wasn’t supposed to be closed. Only the pool closed at that time. The following night we spoke to the manager and were told we didn’t have to leave. We weren’t being noisy or disruptive. Just wanted a place together since we didn’t have rooms on the same floor.
This hotel was not as it appeared in the photos. Disgusting mildew smell as soon as you walked through the door. Carpet has a layer of dust and dirt that can’t be ignored. Curtain in bedroom hanging off the rods. Bed sheets need to be bleached as you can see old spots/stains. Do not book this place!
Staff was friendly and attentive. The room was big and had plenty of space for my big family. The bathroom was not very clean, the tub was stained. Some of the towels had other peoples hair on them. The thermometer was stuck on 60 for A/C so it was either freeze or turn it off and be hot. the lobby was clean but the carpet could be cleaned.
While I can appreciate that it's under renovation, the hour tub was shut down my the health department, the first room we were in was dirty, I had to wipe the toilet seat down before I used it, and it was clear the bedding including sheets has not been changed.
A 4 min drive from the main part of St Augustine but well worth the $100-200 savings to sleep.
Older building.
The only good thing is the location.
When you walk in, the hotel is musty, as if they have had a long term water leak. When we got into our room, it was also musty and dirty. The bed and carpet were wet. There were cigarette ashes in the bed. The comforter was ripped on multiple places. The tub was rusted. The ac did not work. There was a syringe in the dresser drawer.
The front desk is not 24/7 so you’re expected to be there before a certain time or you have to call to check in. The hotel is currently being remodeled, the room and bathroom were dirty. Thankfully we were only staying 1 night. Would not recommend at the moment. Hopefully it’s better once it is done being remodeled.
