IHG, read all the way to the end and read about the GEM you have here! This hotel is updated, clean and very friendly. I wasn't expecting that for the price we paid as it was much less expensive than the other hotels in town. We were greeted by a very friendly attendant and she took her time with us answering questions and providing brochures. She also updated the decaf coffee for us as it was later in the day.
I usually have to bring an extra cushion for the bed to help my hips not hurt but the bed was so comfy I slept through the night without it; and I usually wake at least twice in the night.
There is a lot of countertop that runs nearly 2/3 of the wall across from the bed. There is a desk/table on wheels under the countertop you use as a pull out for your computer. We not only used it for the computer but we rolled it across the room and set it right over the coffee table and used it as our dinner table while sitting on the sofa.... See pics.
The large bathroom was very modern and clean as well The tv anchored on the wall was HUMONGOUS! We were able to hook our computer up to it and watch the movies from our computer. Some hotels dont allow that.
NOW, SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST BEGAN WITH AMY! IHG,PAY ATTENTION TO THIS!! Amy could give lessons to the other breakfast preparers. We are early birds and went to breakfast 15 minutes early just to sit and have coffee. Amy greeted us and chatted with us while filling the steam table. She was super friendly and has a hearty laugh you just love. I decided to have IHG's famous cinnamon rolls with my coffee while waiting for breakfast. Amy knows how to prepare. (1) The rolls were warm but the lid was open so the cinnamon rolls dont get soggy. I have had cold ones before and soggy ones before. Not usually hot and not soggy. (2) The potato cubes were HOT and had Crispy outsides. I have frequently experiences lukewarm, not crispy and sometimes burnt potato cubes. Not here. (3) Amy thought OUTSIDE THE BOX and made ham/cheese souffle instead of egg-white omelets most hotel chains make. They fill you but dont please you. This was tasty and had a nice slightly crispy top. I went back for seconds! (4) Everything at the steam table including the pork sausage we had was hot!! I often find lukewarm foods at steam tables. Lukewarm isn't as palatable but also not as healthy. (5) The pancakes were fluffier/thicker and browner than many we have had in the past. I dont know if it is the settings or she has altered the recipe , but they were better than we have had before. She also made some pancakes up ahead of time and put them in the steam table for those who didn't want to wait in line to use the machine.
IHG, you have a real GEM here. I hope you take this seriously and have her mentor other breakfast prepares and I believe you will get a stronger following, I would pay to come here and have breakfast. I will definitely come here again and again!
Went to the Baseball HOF, so I picked this place to stay. Very convenient location, since it was a 10 min drive to the HOF. Booked two rooms, one with a king and the other with two queens and we were satisfied with both, as they were clean and not so small. The king room had a couch and I believe there was a sofa bed inside. A couple of nice touches were that there was a microwave in the rooms, in addition to a mini-fridge. And also there was a table on wheels that could be pulled out and moved around.
The only issue I had was that our rooms were on the ground floor. There was a floor above and below us. I guess the basement level rooms were above ground in some capacity; maybe in the back? But because there were rooms above us, we heard all the footsteps! It was as if there was a 500 lb guy walking back and forth for 30 minutes! And occasionally we heard a thump, as if he dropped something! So either the person was really heavy, or the floors are really thin. Same issue in the other room. Luckily, the footsteps did not go on for an extended time, but it was VERY annoying! Almost thought to talk to the front desk about it, but we didn't. And it only happened for one of our two nights.
BTW, we checked out the gym and it is very small, with a couple racks of dumbells, a bench, a treadmill and a stepper. Open 24/7. And a pool open till 10. Breakfast was complimentary, but typical warm foods. Just decent, but there were times certain foods ran out and was not replaced quickly.
Clean Room nice breakfast
Loved the convenience of being near the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Enjoyed the breakfast options.
Very clean hotel with an excellent breakfast buffet. Location is gorgeous and quiet.
Clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.
Room was spotless. Staff nice.
Clean room, great breakfast, great staff.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express that markets itself as Cooperstown. To be clear, the hotel is not in Cooperstown proper. It is five miles each way from Cooperstown proper.
That aside, the property itself is an extremely tired example of the Holiday Inn Express brand. Over the years, it has received what could charitably be described as lipstick-on-a-pig updates. At its core, however, the hotel is long overdue — by at least half a decade — for a top-to-bottom renovation. I was told work will begin later this year. So, you probably don't want to stay here until at least spring or summer 2026.
At check-in, my elite status with IHG’s loyalty program wasn't recognized. I wasn’t offered the standard choice of points or an amenity. Instead, I was told I had been “upgraded” to a ground-floor double-queen room facing the parking lot. My profile specifies a king bed on a higher floor. The “upgrade” meant keeping the curtains perpetually drawn, as the windows lacked proper coating for privacy. You can see in all of the rooms from the parking lot. There's zero privacy.
Cleanliness was the bigger issue.
The first room was filthy. Mold or mildew in the bathtub and extensive hair everywhere. The front desk moved me to another room, but no service recovery was offered.
The replacement room was just as bad. Mold was visible around the shower head. Hair was on the toilet seat and the shelf with the towels.
Housekeeping had clearly failed at even basic standards. In the end, I found myself cleaning and sanitizing the room just to make it usable. I would have checked out but all the better hotels were sold-out for the night.
The decor in both rooms was tired. Furniture was scratched and scuffed. The television dated back to 2012 -- as in 13 years old. Noise from both the room behind and above mine made sleep difficult. At times, it felt as though I was sharing the space with my neighbors. I could literally hear everything.
The breakfast buffet was equally disappointing.
Options were limited to stale-looking eggs and some meats. The Holiday Inn Express trademark cinnamon rolls were gone by 7 a.m. The coffee dispensers were also empty by that time. Fresh fruit was nowhere to be seen. I ended up with pancakes from the machine. Adding insult to injury, single-use containers of preserves have been replaced with plastic squeeze bottles “for the environment,” while plates and cutlery remain plastic or Styrofoam. I never saw oatmeal.
I cannot speak to amenities such as the pool or fitness center, as I never saw them. Nor did I see any local newspapers or tourist information — something most hotels in destinations provide.
All things considered, this was a profoundly disappointing stay. Between the filthy rooms, an outdated product, and dismal breakfast, the Holiday Inn Express near Cooperstown is NOT recommended.
Clean room, comfortable beds, great location.
Nothing unique , but the rooms are big and clean.
Breakfast was good
Hot tub and pool were perfect
Excellent location near many activities.
Awesome location
There was confusion during check in and was told the card used on hotels.com was not processing and then had me give another card.
Now I have 2 room charges on 2 separate cards and the hotel has been extremely unhelpful with getting this resolved despite hotels.com customer service reaching out on multiple occasions and providing photos of the dual charges. Avoid this hotel. Plenty of others close by.
Easy place to stay near DREAMS Park for baseball. Breakfast is just ok, but staff is friendly and there is 24hr coffee.
Super clean, front desk staff super helpful!! Nicely updated and CLEAN room. Excellent breakfast, pool and fitness room clean!
A special shout-out to Christina Bridger, the General Manager, and Lilly. They were very attentive and customer focused at breakfast recently and quickly remedied a situation (where the food ran very low due to staff shortage and new staff understanding expectations). They were so kind and considerate, seeking us out to apologize, and quickly making sure to replenish the breakfast offerings. Christina appears to be an incredibly capable general manager, perceptive, well spoken, and highly professional. Kudos to Christina and her staff! Thank you for attending to our needs and ensuring our stay was wonderful. We loved visiting Cooperstown and we'll definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites should we pass your way again.
While the property itself was good enough, we felt that the staff was very insensitive to the extremely loud corner it is located on. We had an exterior room on the 2nd floor - literally feet away from a large homeless population and a very high police activity intersection. We didn’t sleep much at all - and the people at the front desk did not try to remedy our displeasure. They wouldn’t allow us to move rooms without checking out and waiting for them to sell our room, only to then check us into a new room elsewhere in the building. We will not stay here again.
We only stayed one night while in Cooperstown and this hotel was very nice. It was clean with comfortable beds. The room had a microwave, fridge and desk with a chair. We had the complimentary breakfast, which was fine. They had eggs, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, cereals, bagels and pastries. They have a pancake machine, which my son said the pancakes were not good. They also have free cookies at check-in, which were very good. Check-in was easy and the woman at the desk was very nice and helpful. At the front desk they have a pamphlet of places to eat in the area. All in all, a good visit, nice hotel.
