Basic but met my needs
Pros:

The location next to the central train was perfect - just across the road - as Hamburg was a pit stop before I travelled onwards. You get a bit than what you pay for; it is a basic hotel (I wouldn't stay there any longer than a night) but it's clean and my room was huge which a beautiful view of the train station and the city beyond it.

Cons:

- The over-anxious cleaning staff - check out was at 12pm but I had them tapping on my door from 9am onwards wanting to get in and clean. I had a late train so I was going to back the most of my permitted time in my room.
- Luggage storage - I was grateful that they allowed me to store my bags but the storage cupboard was not locked and the door was wide open when I collected my bags. The reception does not have a view of the cupboard and staff weren't too interested in checking my tickets matched. The area around Central Station is not pleasant - there are a lot of undesirables hanging around. The station does have luggage lockers.
- The noise from the train station - you can hear the trains rumble into the station which did stop sometime after midnight.
- They charged me twice for the city tax which I didn't realise until I got a random refund from the hotel. Be wary of that.

Das Personal war superfreundlich bei Check-In und Check-out. Das hat sehr zur Atmosphäre beigetragen und war sehr angenehm.

Cons:

Im Hotel waren laute Bauarbeiten, auf die vorher weder per Mail noch auf der Website hingewiesen wurden. Sie starteten sehr früh am Morgen.

Pros:

I room seemed to be recently renovated. Very clean and huge bathroom. Directly across from train station so perfect for our late arrival and early departure.

Cons:

Supposedly there was construction going on, but we didn’t hear anything. Might be different depending on what room you’re staying in though.

Pros:

Historisches, charmantes Hotel direkt gegenüber dem Hauptbahnhof mit zentraler Lage, sehr freundlichem Personal und einem überraschend gutem Frühstück und -Service. Das Zimmer ist zwar sehr klein, genauso wie das Bad (ca. 1-2 qm), aber für 1 Person doch ausreichend.

Cons:

Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer im 5. Stock, welches nur halb fertig renoviert ist bzw. nur halbherzig renoviert wurde. Die Wände sind teilweise ausgebessert und verputzt sowie gleichzeitig mit alter Glasfasertapete versehen, es gibt z.T. keine Fußleisten, die Farbwahl der Wände beisst sich mit den Möbeln und Fliesen im Bad, es gibt keine Garderobe, keinen Kleiderschrank, keine Türhaken, Kleiderhaken, Handtuchhaken und auch keine Handtuchhalter. An einer Steckdose oder Verteilerdose gab es keine Abdeckung, da hingen einfach lose Kabel aus der Wand. Insgesamt sehr verbesserungswürdig.
