Spectacular in every way!
Pros:

Spectacular hotel resort! Luxury from the minute you enter this beautiful resort. Staff are amazing, spa treatments incredible, food is delicious and rooms are stunning. This was our 5th stay in this amazing resort. We will be back.

Pros:

What a lovely experience at this resort. Hotel is incredibly beautiful, the staff is amazing and my spa treatment was the best I’ve ever had. Food and beverage service is top notch and was thoroughly enjoyed by our group of four. Grazie Mille❤️.

Pros:

Comoda da raggiungere, immersa nel verde e vicina a molti sentieri per chi ama camminare. Barga dista pochi km, splendida vista sulle Apuane.
Personale molto cordiale e disponibile.

Decadent luxury, amazing service at a great price!
Pros:

We arrived in a rainy period but were so warmly welcomed. We were so happy with the room and the understated elegance of the whole hotel. Every member of staff goes out of the way to be polite and helpful. The location being up high gives such breath taking views. We only had B&B, but the breakfast selection was vast and of excellent quality. Everything about the hotel says luxury hotel. As it was raining quite heavily we were stuck in, but were able to use the amazing pool and spa facilities - steam & sauna. We also used the most well equipped large gym I have ever seen in a hotel. Like other reviewers here, I was a little reticent due to some bad reviews, but I am a seasoned traveller and I am unable to fathom how anyone could come away from here with a bad opinion. It's an amazing grand hotel of 5 star quality. Thank you to all the staff from the reception, the restaurant, the bar, the maids and the lovely room service boy. The staff are a credit to this very cool, grand old hotel! Thank you!

Fantastic Break. Some improvements needed, but the staff make it
Pros:

First and foremost we had a great break. What made it most were the staff. Particularly the staff in the restaurant, such as Davide. Really looked after us and made us feel special. They really try hard and the Italian warmth shines through.

The hotel does need updating and the room and bathroom were tired. The cleaning staff focus on the basics like towels and making the bed, but dusting and vacuuming doesn’t really happen. The vent in the bathroom was completely full of dust. As we’re all the surface tops.

But to be honest, I didn’t care. The views are amazing and you just feel well treated by the staff. Food was also very good.

You really need a car as there is nothing nearby to get any provisions. So you could feel isolated and it can be very expensive if you just rely on what is onsite. A separate shop on site would be ideal.

I’d definitely go again,

The expectations not met
Pros:

The hotel is located near Barga in Garfagnana, a very beautiful and less crowded part of Tuscany. The surroundings are truly stunning. The restaurants (outside the hotel) are great. However, the hotel itself was somewhat underwhelming. The rooms felt rather small. The outdoor pool is lovely but opens a bit late in the day. Unfortunately, the spa was quite disappointing. On top of the room rate, there’s a resort fee charged even if you don’t use the spa facilities. Understood that it is a resort but the total charge didn't feel justified.
Overall, the hotel services fell short of expectations, and the front desk staff were not very helpful (for example when asked to book a restaurant). To conclude, there is room for improvement in such a nice setting!

Pros:

The property is tired and the room was very small for the charge we paid. There is an infestation of flys all around the hotel. In our rooms there were 10. We asked to be moved but they only provided a reasonable room for the last day of our trip.
The staff in reception were not helpful.
Overall an expensive hotel with poor facilities. Definitely not up to Marriott standards.
