Restaurant at night. Bus service
First the room had a bad smell we had to change the room. The bed was hard it was impossible to sleep.
So this isn’t the worst I’ve stayed in but it’s advertised as a 4 plus star but I’d say at a stretch it’s a 3! While there were things we liked. Firstly it was out of the centre so we thought it would be quiet and mostly it was except between 9-11.30/12 when they had live music 3 nights and played other music the rest. We were in a room directly above the bar, it was so loud we can’t even read let alone sleep! We asked to move and were told they were fully booked, though the next 2 days the restaurant was almost empty at breakfast and dinner. Also 1 member of staff really didn’t like that I’d even asked.
There was a shuttle into the centre but only once an hour and you have to book in advance or walk on a busy road with no pavements.
The pool area was closed and building works around the hotel left equipment and rubble around the area. We booked through Jet2 and they said it was on their site but we didn’t see it and it certainly isn’t obvious!
The terraces and rooftop areas were also closed
They also had the usual hotel signs about hanging your towels to reuse them but the ignored that and changed them everyday.
The main thing that we enjoyed about our stay was how lovely all the restaurant staff were, so friendly, chatty and helpful. Plus one member of staff on reception!
Posizione

I'll start with the positives. My partner and I booked this hotel on a last minute trip to Sorrento and arrived to friendly and helpful staff, a free welcome drink (always a bonus) and a beautiful room in the annex section. We even had a sea view, a bonus which we hadn't paid for. On Wednesday night they had live music in the bar area which was really lovely!
However, there were a few things that pulled down this 4-star hotel to 3 -star in our eyes.
First of all, the annex building would often have a sewage smell which wasn't pleasant (although we never had this issue when we went into the main building).
Secondly, we didn't use the pool area at all as there were building works happening here - we were allowed to sit here but with all the construction noises it didn't make for a very relaxing area.
The hotel itself is a little bit outside of the main centre of Sorrento, which is perfectly fine, except half of the 20-25 minute walk to the centre doesn't have a pavement, so you end up walking along the windy cliff road on which drivers are going pretty fast. The hotel puts on a shuttle service but we only ended up taking the shuttle twice as they weren't that frequent (although this might not be the case in peak holiday season). I think it would help if the shuttle bus was once an hour, rather than having 2-3 hours between each one.
Finally, we had breakfast included in our package. While we were grateful that there was a wide selection available at breakfast, we would describe a lot of it as mediocre, with a lot of the bakes being quite dry and the bacon overly fatty. The hot water tap when making a cup of tea was a bit busted in that it sprayed out and I scalded my hand a bit too.
A lot of these things can be sorted pretty easily, and I'm sure the building work will be completed by peak holiday season. If these things are fixed this place could easily get a higher rating from us!
