The Alan is a great hotel in a really good location for Manchester Central Convention Complex.
Pros:

Checkin process very smooth, room good size and breakfast was great

Cons:

We stayed in a first floor room, during the night there were a few episodes of loud noise (we weren't near the lifts) - not sure if it was the air con, but something kept kicking in that made quite a loud electric humming/bussing noise, for a few minutes and then stopping.

Not good value for money
Cons:

Clearly sees a lot of turnover. Towels were slightly stained. Bed could have been better quality, especially at that price. Shower in bath also not expected at that price.

Lovely modern clean hotel baand bathroom shower excellent,
Pros:

The interior the room excellent, but reception didn't like let the whole place down looked like pedestal no welcome from surly faced young man so different from most hotels was not happy, but next morning staff was cheerful so maybe for some it was first hospitality job and had not yet received training .

Cons:

reception a sign stating what it was , we stay in hotels all over the world please Alan don't let this be your downfall, we always remember the welcome and staff ,oh and the menu at night A APP nooo spent ages trying to get it to work when asked for paper one lol only for those with perfect eyesight, and if you like burgers gave that a miss

Nice building and location - terrible room
Pros:

Agree with many other reviews - was excited for this hotel after seeing pictures online of the building and it's reception/bar area. All of which met expectations. However the room was so basic and ordinary - basically just a bed with not enough (cheap) furniture. It felt empty and boring and souless - not even a nice piece of artwork on the wall. Really disappointing stay, won't return. Rooms do not do it justice at all.

Excellent value and great location
Pros:

Easy check in and out

Cons:

Not many people in the hotel on the night we stayed, breakfast menu a little bit limited, full english breakfast felt it had been prepared in advance and kept under heated lights rather than freshly made

Overpriced :(
Pros:

Amazing location and amenities in the main hotel! The staff were also lovely!

Cons:

We felt the cost of the room was incredible expensive at £186 for what it was, it didn’t reflect the pictures online and room felt quite worn - shower leaked and the grouting in the bathroom was coming apart.

Pros:

Love this hotel, this is my second stay here! Love the location, decor and the beds are very comfortable.

Cons:

The gentleman checking us in Saturday afternoon at 4pm had a cba attitude, not offensive but also not very welcoming!
Also we had a room that was above some bins and constantly from 5am -830 ish all i could hear was noise to and from the bins.
