Hampton Inn Salem

This property is excellent. It has been recently renovated, is clean and well maintained. I was concerned because of the reviews I had read but this property was so impressive I re-booked for our return trip. The employees behind the desk were very helpful and friendly. They greeted us with a smile. Our room was large and comfortable. Bed was firm and pillows were good. The shower was nice and hot, the temperature of the room was comfy and the TV worked well. Breakfast was your typical fare but hot foods were hot and cold foods kept cold. Plenty of variety including two flavors of waffle mix and plenty of accompaniments. Eggs, sausage and potatoes were available as well as cold cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and bread for toast and scones. And it was served until 10 am so there was no rush to get to breakfast. Two thumbs up!

Pros:
-Friendly, helpful staff.
-Good breakfast with hot and cold options.
-Spacious room & bathroom.
-Good shower pressure.
-Close to restaurants, convience stores and shopping.
-Staff is always cleaning.
-Hubby streamed to watch his shows on his Kindle and never had any problems with the wifi.

Cons:
-Cold pool. Could not use.
-Took 15 min to get a hot shower 1st time. Last time I took a lukewarm shower. It never got hot. Hubby just got out of the shower and said he took a quick shower as had no hot water for his.
-Doors are not soft close. Everyone leaving in the morning or coming in, you hear their door slam. I will never understand why folks can't make sure their door closes quietly. It only takes an extra second!
-Could hear when neighboring rooms took a shower, flushed a toilet or ran their sink.
- Bed appears to be a soft metal platform. Every time one of us got up/down or rolled over it made loud popping noises.
-Several pieces of equipment down in fitness room.

We are packing up to check out and make the trip home. I think we will both take our exhausted bottoms to bed and get up for hot showers after.
We've stayed here for many years and I think this may be our last stay here. I've already started looking for other options for our next visit in a few weeks.

They offered a wonderufl breakfast selection including gluten free options. The breakfast area was clean and well maintained.

Room was super clean. Bathroom in excellent condition. Breakfast and coffee was outstanding.

The room was clean and spacious for my family. The breakfast was good, but we wished it had more options like bacon.

Room was clean everything worked properly

The place is fairly new. Location very easy to get to. Very easy to get on and off the interstate since we were driving. Checking in staff very nice they even gave us a list of all the local restaurants in the area which was very helpful. Place was very clean has a nice out door patio area. Nice in door pool.

Clean and friendly

Decent room till you get to the bathroom. Couldn’t take a shower the water was so cold even after leaving it on the highest setting for 10 mins. Ridiculously unclean shower head as well but hey if you like not showering and paying for usable internet this is the spot for you!

Stopped here specifically on New Year's Eve with the grandchildren so they could swim in the indoor pool. Drove an extra hour for the pool. Get there and the pool is temporarily closed - my fault I should have called first before booking. Another issue was the price increased $10 for the room from the morning until the evening when I booked it. With the weather, I was concerned that we would get caught in snow and not be able to get to the location. Also, chose it for the pull-out couch so the two grandchildren did not have to sleep in the same bed. The mattress on the couch was super thin and you could feel the springs! Staff was super friendly when we arrived - breakfast was good! Spent more to stay here and we would have gotten the same for $50 less elsewhere - bummer!
