Absolutely amazing hotel and experience!
From the first reply to the moment we left, everyone was so polite, helpful, and friendly, making our stay truly special.
We booked a Classic Double Room with a sea view and balcony, and it certainly did not disappoint. The views over Sorrento, the Bay of Naples, and Mount Vesuvius were simply breathtaking.
The room was the perfect size for us, with a comfortable bed and a nice shower. However, it was the incredible view from the balcony that really sold the room. The only thing that could be improved was the coffee, as it was provided in sachets with powdered milk. After the first day, we bought our own coffee and fresh milk, which we stored in the minibar fridge.
The location was perfect for us—just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento, yet only a 10-minute walk into town, which helped burn off some of the fantastic food and drink that Sorrento has to offer 😊. There is a pathway opposite the hotel that leads into town. It can be quite narrow in places, so it may not be suitable for everyone with mobility difficulties. There is also a small shop around 200 metres down the road for any snacks or essentials you may need.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and the breakfast was very good. There was a self-service selection of fruit and pastries, and you could also order bacon and eggs from the kitchen.
TOP TIP: Don't leave your food unattended if you're sitting outside uncovered—the seagulls stole our bacon while we were getting coffee! 😂
The rooftop pool area is fantastic, with stunning views from both the sun loungers and the pool itself.
We cannot wait to book and stay here again.
A special shout-out to Alessandro for helping with our bags and looking after us during our stay. He even spotted us in town on his day off and came over to check that we were okay and see if we needed any help or advice.
See you again soon!
This was our first trip to Italy, and we stayed at the Minerva for 8 days - it was wonderful! The staff was very welcoming and helpful, with a special nod to Gabriella at the front desk and also the rooftop pool and breakfast wait staff. The view from our room was spectacular.
When we return to Sorrento we would definitely stay here again.
Lovely stay at this hotel which I'd chosen after much research on Tripadvisor. The hotel is in a good location, just a 15 minute wall up hill from the centre, although the pavement is very narrow. Hotel rooftop pool was lovely, plenty of sunbeds, pool bar serving drinks and snacks and wonderful views. We ate in the hotel 4 nights out of 7 on our 1/2 board booking. The food was good, typically a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and puddings. We stayed in the annex rooms with a small balcony out front. These don't get the sun other than early morning. The rooms are fine although the walls are very thin and you can hear people talking / tv's in the adjacent rooms. The hotel decor is quite rustic and the staff were all very pleasant. Bar drinks prices were reasonable, 6 Euros for beer, 11 for cocktails and 30 for a bottle of wine. We were only in the hotel in the evening for 1 night and there was some live music in the bar area.
From arrival to departure this hotel was excellent in every aspect. First and foremost the staff at this hotel are fabulous. Kind, friendly and very helpful. The view from our room (sea view with balcony) was exceptional with a vista across the bay of Naples to mount Vesuvius. Breakfast was continental self service with plenty of fresh and local options with the addition of eggs and bacon to order . Dinner was a la cart for b&b guests . There was plenty of choice and the food, wine and service were to a high standard. Lunch on the terrace looking over the bay was a delight. The pool bar served a good lunch menu and a broad selection of beverages. Food and drinks were priced fairly for a hotel in Sorrento . The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento down a slight gradient. The walk back was comfortable as the gradient is slight . The taxis to and from the town are very expensive at between €23-28 so walking was our option on most occasions. The views on the way are stunning.
The hotel is built into a hillside and is decorated with stylish antique style furniture with bright colours and the rooms are equally as bright . ( hotel photos represent this clearly ) The hotel was immaculately clean and well maintained throughout. This hotel was a fantastic base to explore the area with wonderful staff and we would not hesitate to return in the future .
Location was great! The property was stunning and had a nice dining room and lounge area overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The AC did not work, it got hot in the room.
We loved how clean the hotel was, how beautifully it was decorated and the view was amazing. The breakfast was delicious and bountiful.
We did not get enough information from the front desk regarding restaurant recommendations.
Views that are unmatched overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The rooms were large and very clean and comfortable. The balcony was spacious with two chairs and a table. The included breakfast was plentiful and other meals at the restaurant were delicious. What really impressed us were the staff who were friendly and efficient and couldn’t do enough for you. Walk into town took about ten minutes downhill. Of course coming back meant uphill but not bad even for us seniors. Overall, highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
Great location over looking the sea. Great views and 15 minute walk to city center.
My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights at this classic and beautiful hotel in late April, so it wasn't super croweded or hot yet in Sorrento. From the train station, you have to walk through the busy center of town and a narrow sidewalk up the hill, but it is manageable without a taxi/bus if you don't have large roller bags. We had a room with a balcony on the 2nd floor (or 3rd floor for some). The room was very spacious, clean, and it had an amazing view. The minibar was also stocked. Seriously, what a view, which you can also enjoy anytime from the main terrace even if you happen to get an attic room or one without a balcony. However, keep in mind that the rooms face a main roadway, which has traffic throughout the evening, so noise may be a factor for some guests if they are used to more quiet living conditions. Earplugs would solve that. You may be able to avoid this by getting an attic room or the priciest room options. During our stay, we used the pool and bar upstairs, which was really nice and relaxing. Towels are provided. There are lots of places to sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine, etc. Our only real complaint about the hotel is that we didn't like the coffee at all, which came from the automatic machine in the dining room. It had a strang taste and there were always grounds at the bottom. Otherwise, the service was excellent, and the food (we had breakfast and 1 dinner at the hotel during our stay) was decent. We also had a nice time chatting with the bartender after dinner with homemade limoncello. We were treated really well and the staff was very helpful in meeting our requets and needs. They also helped us book activities in the area. Overall, we highly recommend this one to anybody! If you don't have the budget for the more expensive rooms, the lower-priced options are of good value.
“Hotel Minerva was absolutely stunning. The views were breathtaking, and the location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the city center. The staff were incredibly attentive and helpful, and by the end of our stay, many truly felt like friends. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and the grounds were beautifully maintained and spotless. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”
What a fabulous time we had staying at this hotel.
Not only is the hotel in the perfect position for exploring Sorrento and surrounding areas... But the view was breathtaking! I could of just sat looking at the Gulf of naples and view of mount vesuvius for the entire holiday!
The staff literally couldn't do enough for us, nothing was to much trouble. Im a coeliac and they ensured that I was catered for. Every meal was hot and very delicious accompanied by a wonderful service.
Hotel was a 10 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento which was perfect for us. The train station, bus station and harbour were all close by which made it super easy for exploring.
