Perfekt für Menschen, die etwas mehr Platz brauchen
Pros:

Die Größe der Unterkunft ist außergewöhnlich. Man hat Platz für sein Gepäck, kann auspacken (was in einigen Hotels auch nocht mehr vorgesehen ist...), hat zwei getrennte Zimmer mit einer Sitzgruppe und eine richtige Miniküche und einen großen Balkon. Die Lage am Dom war für uns sehr praktisch.

Cons:

Rund um das Hotel sind viele Baustellen, daher ist es morgens wirklich laut. Bei geschlossenen Fenstern war es okay, aber wer mit offenen Fenstern schläft wird früh wach. Die Küchenausstattung ist minimal. Ein Ventilator wäre bei der Hitze hilfreich gewesen.

Apartment in optimaler Lage
Pros:

Das Boardinghouse ist Seniorenresidenz und Apartmenthotel in einem, mag im ersten Moment etwas befremdlich erscheinen, später freut man sich über die netten Kontakte im Fahrstuhl. Die Zimmer sind sehr groß und wirken etwas spartanisch eingerichtet, sind aber sauber. Das beste ist allerdings die Lage. Zum Bahnhof, zum Dom, zum Schiffsanleger oder in die Innenstadt sind es nur wenige Schritte. Alles ist fußläufig in wenigen Schritten erreichbar. Auch eine Tiefgarage ist vorhanden.

Cons:

An das karge Zimmet haben wir uns schnell gewöhnt, dafür gab es jede Menge Platz.

Pros:

Das Konzept der Residenz ist überzeugend.
Wir waren während großer Hitze in Köln. Trotzdem führte die Bepflanzung im Eingangsbereich und zwischen den Gebäudeteilen dazu, dass wir uns, klimatechnisch gesehen, sehr wohl fühlen konnten.

Für unseren Aufenthalt war es die ideale Auswahl. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
Pros:

Die Lage ist hervorragend, nah zum Bahnhof, zur Innenstadt, zu den Öffis. Die Mitarbeiter*innen sind durchweg freundlich und zugewandt. Schön ist, dass man Schwimmbad, Sauna, Fitnessraum mit benutzen kann. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und die Betten bequem. Die Grünanlagen waren ganz schön, wie eine kleine Oase im städtischen Trubel.

Cons:

Wir waren in einer sehr warmen Zeit da. Wir haben zwar einen Ventilator zur Verfügung gestellt bekommen, aber die beiden Räume haben sich stark aufgeheizt.
Die Küchenausstattung war sparsam. Auf Nachfrage haben wir aber z. B. einen zusätzlichen Topf oder eine Kaffeemaschine erhalten.
In direkter Nachbarschaft war eine Baustelle auf der stundenlang mit Presslufthammer gearbeitet wurde.

An excellent value, would stay here again!
Pros:

The Residenz has to be the best value in the city for a two-person stay. Our one-bedroom apartment wasn’t fancy, but it was very spacious, immaculate, and comfortable; it even had a large balcony. We enjoyed the amenities like the pool and fitness center, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The location, a 5-minute walk from the central train station, was perfect for arriving and leaving Cologne by train.

Cons:

Because the listing notes there are “kitchen basics” included, it would have been very helpful to have just a few more items, such as entree-size bowls instead of only very small ones, and a little more silverware such as a small serrated knife.

Cologne city break.
Pros:

The apartment was really central, the gym and pool were great as was the onsite laundry room adjacent to our room.The apartment rooms were all really big and clean, and it was nice having a balcony.

Cons:

The apartment decor was dated but this didn't affect us as it was clean and tidy and had everything in that we needed.
However the street outside the apartment was really noisy from about 6am,which wasn't great,so earplugs are essential.

Good for short stay.
Pros:

Perfect location, only a few hundred meters from main train station. Also the apartment is spacious.

Good location, excellent reception staff and good room
Pros:

Diana and the other reception staff were very helpful and gave us good service. It was extremely hot in Cologne. The residence does not have air-conditioning but Diana and the team arranged for us to have a fan for the room. The room was clean, spacious and had good facilities. The location was convenient near both the station and cathedral.

Cons:

Ideally air-condtioning but being realistic it was a heatwave.

Expensive for the overall experience
Pros:

The pool was great and the staff were very nice and professional. The location is just a short walk from the Dom.

Cons:

We stayed at Residenz am Dom during a heatwave with temperatures reaching 40°C and no air conditioning in the room, which made it extremely uncomfortable. We ended up moving to another hotel with air conditioning to get a good night’s sleep. Despite the unusual weather, Residenz am Dom refused to refund us. I understand that it’s mentioned at booking that there’s no air conditioning and it’s non-refundable, but given the circumstances, I felt exceptions should have been made. Additionally, there are many homeless people sleeping in the streets near the hotel, which made the area feel a bit unsafe. Lastly, the hotel is an elderly residential facility, which was unexpected for us as we weren’t aware of this when booking. It didn’t quite match the atmosphere we were hoping for. It’s also very pricey, although most hotels in Cologne are also expensive. I wouldn’t say it was good value.
