Dominica was a stop on our cruise . So we popped in for a drink. We ordered then I gave my husband 20 dollars to go and pay . He came back said he’d paid I said how much he she said 18 but she had no change .
Later we went back I was fuming so we ordered again so I went to till this time and the drinks were only $7.38 . So I paid by card and told the guy this time what had happened earlier . He said the lady had gone on her break .
It’s a lovely place just don’t get ripped off by bad staff .
I recently stayed here for a week with friend for diving, etc. The room was in the newer section, spacious, comfortable bed, good lightening, nice bathroom, hot water (although sometimes the flow would drop) & good daily housekeeping. The breakfast was included & had good selection of food. There's a service fee/ VAT fee with purchase at the hotel. Preordered lunch when scheduled for afternoon tours after 2 dives in the morning.
At the hotel you can exchange USD for XCD with a good rate (better than what I got in the US). Most of the stores take USD currency.
The pool area wonderful with really hot, hot tub! There needs to be more lounge chairs at pool side.
The dive center very accommodating- rinse bucket for dive gear & hangers for wetsuit. Dive staff took care of the rest of the gear daily & on last day of diving they rinse it & put it in your gear bag. The boats are big, only complaint is there isn't any grip holds, which is very important if walking about the cabin for stablility.
My DM was Jeff & Capt. Goldwin (?), I lost my cheat sheet with other DM names (4 groups each with their own DM ) who were extremely helpful.
This hotel is a good location for Roseau.
We spent a week at Fort Young Hotel in Dominica . We traveled with 25 other people for scuba diving. The hotel has a dive shop on site, which we utilized. The dive shop staff, dive masters, boat captains were all very nice and professional. We utilized a large catamaran for our daily dive excursions. The boat was well appointed and spacious. The dive masters and boat captains made for a very relaxed and enjoyable dive experience. The reefs are beautiful, with plenty of sea life. The dive masters were very knowledgeable about the marine life. The staff was very safety oriented.
We also went on an excursion to Trafalgar Falls. Our driver gave us a lot of history of the island.
The hotel is lovely. We spent all of our spare time eating, drinking, and swimming at the infinity pool, which overlooks the Caribbean Sea. The island is fascinating in that it has nine active volcanoes.
The hotel staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Great experience.
A lovely hotel, perfectly situated within walking distance of ‘downtown’ Roseau, such as it is. Comfortable rooms, helpful and friendly staff. Food at the restaurant and bars was very good but it was a disappointment that so little fresh fruit and veg was available on the menu, particularly at breakfast : we had looked forward to this coming to Dominica. Our one complaint concerns the out-of-service-for-who-knows-how-long elevator in the old wing: having to take several staircases to get to the restaurant for breakfast and then back to the room has put out my husband’s knee for the foreseeable future.
Fort Young provides a sanctuary in the heart of Roseau, Dominica. Whether its from a day of sightseeing, hiking, touring the streets of the capital or business meetings this hotel is an oasis of calm, cool and excellent service. After a hot day outdoors its a relief to go back to a cool air conditioned room and plenty of hot water, a comfortable bed and room service. Staff greet you with a smile and when needed, a helping hand. The renovations have made for an upscale property that is still affordable for travellers. The only downside for me as a senior was the inoperable elevator down to the Restaurant and street level which meant hiking up and down 6 flights of stairs each time. However, the views of the incoming cruise ships and the sunset from the bottom deck made it worthwhile. Breakfast could be improved on with more local fare but it is clear that for dining in general they aim to accommodate your meal preferences. Kudos to the front desk and concierge as well - they were always on the ball! I look forward to future visits.
Good location, security very good and welcome from reception. Room was good and well cleaned every day.
Very disappointing breakfast, could not do poached eggs, started with juice variety and then to just one. Quality varied and range of food reduced. Service slow especially from one person.
Good location. But communication at all levels to be improved. No info on themed nights, no escape route usually on bedroom door. Difficult to find around hotel as no map.
Nydelig beliggenhet, hyggelig personale og god service!
Ingenting å klage på her!
Bel hôtel
Trop cher au vu de la qualité
Location
Ocean front room a little run down , could do with a refurbish considering the price paid for the ocean from room
L’emplacement. Proximité avec le port et la vue
Certains du personnel peu accueillants
Le petit déjeuner
Le bruit de la Climatisation l’air conditionné, le manque d’intimité sur les terrasses
Location is great, and rooms are nice and bed is good. Only the bathroom was old fashioned in the old rooms.
The food in the restaurant is ok but not the best and the waiters are slow. The breakfast is very poor and it is better to eat outside at 100% Natural. The reception did no tell us about the yoga which we missed. Also that did not tell us that we should book the whale trip in advance because now it was sold out and we had to book a private trip.
We enjoyed it a lot, the hotel was a very good experience. We still have to get used a bit more to the Caribbean speed of service. :-)
Excellent
Le personnel etait très agréable, très patient
La présentation du buffet super
