Loved our stay! This hotel was so unique and so “Charleston.” Excellent location! We walked to everything!
We were pleased with this hotel! Great location, friendly and helpful staff and a beautiful room. Will definitely recommend this hotel to others and stay when we return!
This hotel is in the middle of everything in old Charleston. Parking is in an adjoining deck. A suburban sized vehicle is a tight squeeze. The rooms were clean and super quite. Our room was large and two stories. 1st level is a den with kitchen and 1/2 bath. 2nd is a bedroom, large closet, and large bathroom. The bathroom has a shower and 2 person garden tub. The tub is really useless because it takes forever to fill. Overall this hotel was wonderful for the price. Rarely do you leave feeling like you got a deal. My only complaint is that the property needs a little love because its slightly dated. However this would not keep me from staying here again. We enjoyed our stay.
Very nice location!
I would have rated more highly but our room had very little water the first night and NONE the next day! Not the hotel’s fault but they could have given a partial refund. Which they didn’t.
The "suite" was on two floors, kitchenette and living room on the first floor and the bedroom on the second floor. you had to go up a flight of stairs to get to the bedroom. I am handicapped and have to use a can or walker. this was not mentioned on the hotels.com website. Also it says valet, but there was none and they didn't clean the room once during uor 3 nt stay, even after asking.
We probably caught them on a bad day. They gave us a room that had not been cleaned. The bes were not made and there were empty food containers in the kitchen area. Furniture was old and tattered. They had water pressure issues that kept the toilet from flushing. We left without staying overnight.
The location is great. Cool property, but not well maintained. Water main break & hot water heater leak was crazy.
My overall experience was good enough that I would consider returning, I do believe there are several areas where improvements could make a significant difference.
I had read reviews beforehand and knew to expect a few signs of age throughout the property. So while I wasn't surprised, it’s clear the hotel could benefit from some thoughtful updates.
One major hiccup during our stay was a city water shutdown. We received a text while already en route, letting us know we could choose to stay elsewhere. Unfortunately, that wasn’t really an option at that point. According to the front desk, the timing was out of their control, but we were told the work would happen overnight and only cause low pressure. In reality, we had no water at all the following day. It was disappointing, especially since one of toilets in the room didn’t even flush after service resumed.
The biggest letdown, though, was the front desk staff. In past reviews, guests had praised the staff, but that was not our experience. During our stay, we encountered several employees at the front desk and not one greeted us. The person who checked us in was the one we saw most often, and despite passing her multiple times a day and always saying hello, she rarely responded and often seemed more engaged in whatever was playing on her computer or on a Facetime call. On our last day, when retrieving luggage we had stored she didn’t even recognize us and asked if we were checking in.
Again, it's those little things.
Walking distance to parking garage, shops & dining. There were some technical malfunctions during our stay - key card issues and a scheduled water outage by the city - but the location was great, our suite was well appointed and clean.
I did not like that they did not clean the room the time we stayed there at all.
Location location location
The location of the property can’t be beat. Beautiful private courtyard but the property could use a facelift. So much potential!! Rooms are spacious and clean.
Centrally located in the downtown area, quiet, to pull-out sofa in living room need to move a large heavy coffee table that doesn't have casters, which makes using the sofa bed very cumbersome
Great place to stay!
Amazing location!! Attractions, restaurants and shopping are steps from the front door. Tyrone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. We loved the 1 1/2 baths, good water pressure, full-size fridge, kitchenette, balcony, two-floor layout, charming hotel courtyard, elevator, comfortable bed and lack of noise. However, the room showed wear and tear and the carpet, sheets and toilet had not been cleaned prior to our arrival.
I chose Church Street Inn for it's convenient downtown location and it was perfect. It is convenient to all the historic downtown area.
Great location and floor plan, parking convenient although not free
Bathtub drain needs attention
This is a great location! It’s walkable (within a mile) of everything in the city and just steps from the Market and restaurants.
There were a few janky things like a post it note over the broken peep hole in the door, remotes for fans and lights were cheap and barely functioning.
We found hairs (not ours) in the bathtub.
Loved having a full kitchen and two floors. The bed was comfortable; the couch was not. We spent most of our days out and about so not an issue.
Great location suggest you repair the light switches in the room. It took awhile to figure out how to turn the lights and fan on/off
