Great location and clean. Poor customer service
Pros:

Clean, great location,

Cons:

I have been charged 2x for this trip, I now have to fight to get one of the charges refunded. Megan at the front desk did state this was booking.coms fault. ( Which it was not. Megan did not know what she was doing)

Left the property, would not sleep there.
Pros:

The employee at the front desk was very helpful and professional.

Cons:

The lobby has been renovated so I was surprised to walk into the room, and see that it reeked of cigarettes and smelled stale. The property overall is in very poor condition and in need of a major renovation.

Pros:

This place is trash. Bathroom was filled with mold all around the walls, when we complained they had an attitude and said “All we can do is bleach the bathroom.” Customer service was as well terrible, the front desk constantly had attitudes no matter what you had to say. Although at the restaurant staff were great. The beds were also not the best quality. The door was terrible, it was dirty, discolored, difficult to open and shut. Along with the carpets ripped up! Also heard a complaint about them not checking the right people in and putting other guest at risk. DO NOT COME!

Great way to end a day on the road!
Pros:

Very clean and friendly full service hotel.
We were traveling cross country and stopping for the night. We were anticipating the stress of checking in, then trying to find a place to open to have dinner. We typically drive until 8:00 pm.
Much to our surprise the Effingham Holiday Inn had a full service restaurant & bar that was open late to serve us!
Pool was clean and open until 11: PM.
Megan at the front desk greeted us and was very helpful about any questions we had.
Everyone we encountered was pleasant and professional.
The hotel grounds were nice and well maintained with areas to sit and visit.
The hotel is also near other dining options and a Walmart.

Worn and weathered
Pros:

The room was clean and spacious.

Cons:

Outside smelled like cat urine. During check-in the worker had earbuds in and seemed to be confused/distracted during the check in process. She kept stopping mid sentence and repeating herself. The room was clean, but much of the furniture and the room itself was outdated and worn or broken. The soap for the sink was in a holder that was so high above the sink my children couldn't reach it. The pool was also smaller than most Holiday Inn's we've stayed in and also on the older side. There was no continental breakfast. Instead, there was a restaurant that we didn't try, but it appeared very small and seemed to be the only part of the hotel that was somewhat updated.

Will never stay here again.

Lobby was updated.

Cons:

The room itself had been to war and back. The bathroom, in particular, was not well-maintained. The exhaust fan was inoperable and clearly had been for quite some time, since the lighting fixtures were so rusted that the metal finish was obliterated. The door frame and exhaust vent were also rusty. Also, the wallpaper had significant peeling. The tub spigot had become detached and instead of repairing it correctly, someone attempted to fix it by using bondo to bridge the 1-2" gap between the spigot and the shower wall. Walls and doors in the room were scuffed and cosmetically not in great shape. When reported to the front desk, were were not offered another room nor any kind of credit.
