The place looked dirty. The floors were very spotted and stained on the first & second floor and in the elevators. The second floor, including our room, smelled like dogs. The front desk receptionist was rude during check in. When I handed her my ID, instead of asking me to pull it out of my little wallet, she grabbed my wallet and proceeded to pull and yank it out herself. I did not give her permission to go through my wallet! When I asked for two keys to my room, she demanded a second ID for the second key. It was pouring rain outside and my 81 year old husband hadn’t come in with our luggage yet but when he finally came in, she asked for his ID. I’ve never had to show two ID’s for two keys at any hotel or resort before! Unfortunately, the morning desk clerk when I checked out was just as rude. When I asked for a receipt, he said, “You checked in online, you’ll get it online.” I thought that was very rude.
The website did not mention that the first floor was under repair or renovation. There were maintenance men walking back and forth with equipment and furniture. The first floor wreaked of fresh paint. I believe a discount should have been offered for that inconvenience!
Also, I believe “Breakfast included” should not be advertised on the website. Coffee and a granola bar or a tiny muffin is not breakfast!
The worst detail for me was that the door facing the dark back parking lot remained open for anyone off the street to enter. Even though it is clearly posted that the door is to remain locked, that door is jammed and does not close even when you pull it. I felt unsafe knowing it was open all night, especially with no one at the front desk being able to see if anyone came in. The stairs adjacent to the door led up to the second floor where my room was.
I expected a lot better accommodations for $160/night! I trusted the Extended Stay brand name because the ones I’ve stayed at in the past were pretty exceptional. This one gives the brand a bad name!

Construction in the lobby. The so-called breakfast was dry muffin, instant oatmeal and coffee. Staff Forrest said there was no more rooms available to switch to king size bed. Then when we get in the room tv and phone doesn’t work, and magically a room with king size bed became available. Worst of it for me was the dirty floors in the lobby and room. Yuck.

The noise from Highway 71 was loud and disruptive of sleep.

The room could have been better prepared. I needed to request a phone and the lights went out at some point and I had to fix them by using the circuit breaker myself, despite having spoken to the staff.

Guest kept playing loud music and couldn’t relax

The room had a bad stench.

The lack of safely and homeless people around the entire property

I do not believe it was fair for me to have to pay this additional amount because your online reservation system accepted my booking after I entered the correct number of guests. I should not have been financially responsible for what appears to have been an issue with the reservation system or room availability information.

After checking into the larger room and unpacking our belongings, we discovered that the refrigerator was not working. I immediately went to the front desk and informed the employee because we had food that needed refrigeration. I was told someone would be there the following morning to repair it.

Later that evening, after a long day, my family and I attempted to shower and discovered that the shower was not working. I returned to the front desk, and a younger gentleman assisted us by moving us to another room. Although I appreciated his assistance, it was frustrating to have to gather our belongings and move after already unpacking because of multiple problems with the original room.

On the morning of July 8, I called the front desk at approximately 10:00 a.m., one hour before checkout, to ask about a late checkout. I was informed that after 12:00 p.m. there would be a $10 per hour charge.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., I called again and explained that I was still at an appointment and hoped to be out before 1:00 p.m. I was told that was okay and to let the front desk know if I would be later.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., I called again and explained that I should be leaving shortly but wanted to extend my stay for one additional night. Before arriving, I had also spoken with a front desk employee who explained that my original reservation could not be extended after 11:00 a.m. and that it would need to be done as a new reservation. I understood and followed those instructions by making a new reservation.
