Disappointing in every way
Pros:

Stayed 3 nights at the Hampton Inn as part of my daughter's volleyball tournament. First room had a filthy toilet with dried excrement as well as hair on the floor. We were moved to another room which was slightly cleaner, but still dirty, including the bedsheets. The bed was rock hard, and the heater in the room sounded like a helicopter. It was impossible to sleep. Called management and the front desk several times for help with the heater, and it was not fixed.

In general, this is a dilapidated hotel, with dirty hallway carpets and poorly functioning elevators. The tournament room block forced us to stay; however, we will not make that mistake in the future.

Good Breakfast and Clean Rooms, but Front Desk Service Needs Significant Improvement
Pros:

I stayed at this property for a business trip arranged and paid for by my company. Unfortunately, several issues with the front desk and reservation handling made the experience more stressful than it needed to be.

I had selected my room in the app the day before arrival and stopped by early on check‑in day to ask if it was ready. I was told the room was available but that there was a $25 early check‑in fee. I agreed to pay it personally, but the front desk staff member said he couldn’t proceed without approval from my company’s travel contact—at 7 a.m. This resulted in having to store my bag instead, and the interaction felt unnecessarily rigid.

Later that afternoon, I asked another front desk staff member for change so I could tip the bellman for retrieving my stored bag. I was abruptly told, “I don’t make change,” and was directed to try the bartender instead. The bartender was friendly and immediately helped, which I appreciated, but the contrast in service was noticeable.

There were also complications with my reservation. My company had extended my stay months earlier, but instead of adjusting the existing reservation, the hotel created a completely separate one. When I asked about the reservation issue the day before my original checkout date, the front desk staff member I spoke with was notably unhelpful. He did not stand up, did not approach the desk, and did not make any effort to look up my reservation in the system. Instead, he simply told me, without checking anything, that I would need to come back the next day before noon, check out of my room, and then check back in under the second reservation. Given that I was in town for back‑to‑back meetings, this dismissive response added unnecessary stress and gave me the impression that resolving guest issues was not a priority. The next morning, however, a staff member named Chris handled the entire issue efficiently and professionally. He updated the reservation, cancelled the unnecessary second booking, and ensured my key would continue working. He was the one positive experience I had with the front desk.

The room itself was clean and spacious, and the breakfast each morning was excellent. However, some smaller but still frustrating issues added up: the shower drained extremely slowly, and the coffee pods in the room didn’t fit the coffee maker. While the hotel did send up the correct pods when I asked, housekeeping later removed the working pod and replaced it with more that didn’t fit.

This was the first time my company used this hotel for multiple staff members, and I was not the only one who encountered service and reservation issues. As a result, the hotel has now been removed from our list of recommended nearby properties.

Between the inconsistent service, reservation complications, and several avoidable inconveniences, I cannot recommend the hotel and will choose a different nearby option in the future.

Front desk needs work
Pros:

The positive aspects of this hotel were unfortunately overshadowed by a very negative experience with the front desk. I rarely write complaints, but the way my partner and I were treated during our stay was genuinely shocking.

John, in particular, was extremely rude. At check in, which was our very first interaction with the hotel, a member of our party needed to use the restroom and was abruptly told that the bathroom was not for public use. When we explained that he was with us, John responded sharply and dismissively. I initially brushed it off, assuming he may have just been having a bad day.

Unfortunately, the behavior continued. While checking out this morning, I stepped outside to load my bags into an Uber and realized I no longer had my key card. When I approached the door, John waved his hand at me in a rude and dismissive manner, forcing me to explain that I had already checked out.

I have stayed at many Hilton properties and have always had positive experiences, which made this stay especially disappointing.

Will definitely stay there next time in town.
Pros:

Great location, easy to walk to food. only spent one night but staff for very friendly and accommodating. rooms were clean and great size. had a fun view of the city from the window. value for the room was excellent especially in december. breakfast was standard but plenty of options. lobby was well decorated for the holiday. valet parking was amazing!

Convenient location for Capital touring, Uber's are numerous.
Pros:

Welcoming staff, except valet could not drive stick shift, so I had to park. Rates are 60$ overnight. Hotel lobby staff efficient. Offers a hot breakfast daily (added value) Did not receive maid service, nor were our towels exchanged until we called front desk to arrange.

Worst Hampton Ever
Pros:

The worst hampton inn we have ever stayed at. We only stay at Hampton’s because we wanted consistency with quality that we expect. I requested room service on the chat feature which we have used many times at other Hamptons. No response. We let the front desk know in person and learned that you allegedly have to request room service in person every day from the rude staff. I had told them in a calm voice we hadn’t received room service in 3 days and they acted like it was our fault even though this was never explained to us when we checked in. After the conversation in which they gas lighted and took zero ownership for we waited by the elevator to go to our room and overheard the lady making fun of us for bringing up that we didn’t get room service for 3 days. Allegedly the rude staff that I don’t trust at all claimed they also don’t have digital key and they aren’t in charge of the system which flies in the face of every other hampton inn we have ever stayed at. The staffed needs to be trained better on making sure guests are told what their hotel offers and they need to be respectful at the very least. We treated them with respect and didn’t argue with them at all. That was my first interaction with that front desk staff.

Pros:

Stayed here for a conference and it was the perfect fit for me. Friendly staff, clean room with all the accommodations that I needed. It was very close to the conference center and I was able to find nearby parking (although the hotel does offer a parking service)

Pros:

This hotel is about 0.3 miles away from the metro station at Chinatown. The walk is safe and travels via Metro is economical and fast. The breakfast is a plus for staying at the Hampton Inn, and I greatly appreciate the coffee and tea choices in the lobby throughout the day. The room is clean, and the bed and blanket are comfortable. A mini fridge, microwave, and safe are also provided. The bathroom is spacious, but it has no ventilation. The shower drains very slowly, and the faucet doesn’t turn off when the shower head is on. This Hampton Inn is connected to an apartment building. A garbage truck seems to come every morning and continuously woke me up early in the morning each day.

Quick and easy check-in by a courteous and friendly gentleman at the front desk. We arrived at the hotel earlier than check-in time but were allowed to head to our room. This was greatly appreciated after our long travels.
Clean room but bathroom door was swollen and didn’t close without force.
During our stay, Housekeeping missed cleaning our room so we needed to request clean towels and toilet paper when leaving the hotel in the morning. But, these were provided when we returned to our room in the afternoon
Breakfast was good and I appreciated the breakfast staff for their attentiveness to ensure that the guests were taken care of.
Overall, the hotel staff were professional in their interactions and making sure that the needs of their guests were met.

Very good breakfast and location
Pros:

The hotel was clean and the breakfast was very good for a Hampton. One of the elevators broke down on our 2nd day and it may it difficult to get an elevator down or up. The air conditioning unit in our room was extremely loud. The plugs on the night stand wouldn’t work. It’s a older hotel but overall it was ok.

The breakfast and location is the best thing about this hotel. The hotel is very old and they have updated but our air conditioning unit was so loud and one elevator went down and it took forever to get an elevator. It was a very clean hotel. The valet parking is expensive as well.
