A well-equipped comfortable hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter
Pros:

The room was relatively quiet (of course not 100% during the World Cup with a lot of noise outside) and comfortable. The hotel offers comfortable seating in the lobby, a restaurant, a café, gym and bar/pool area. Cool vibe/design. Lots of restaurants around.

Cons:

The whole hotel is cashless, so I could not get change for a 10 dollar bill at the front desk or café. Many shops/restaurants in the area are cashless too, but you are supposed to leave tips for housekeeping in the US, so this is a real pain in the neck for international travellers. I also tried to tip the valet for keeping my luggage using the provided QR code, but the payment (ApplePay) failed.

Great Hotel. Book It Now!
Pros:

We had an incredible stay at The Margaritaville Hotel. Location was absolutely perfect for our family. We walked everywhere in the Gaslamp District and there was a ton of restaurants for us to choose from. Our 3 teenage kids loved it. The rooftop pool was perfect as well. The rooms were a little dated but still 4/5 stars for me. The lobby, coffee bar, and rooftop bar were all awesome. My check in experience with Erica was fantastic and customer service at the entire hotel was top notch. Will stay again for sure if I’m in the area.

Pros:

Clean rooms, facilities include gym, pool and bar.
The outdoor amenities are definitely a strong point for this property. The pool and bar area were very nice and charged as “hotel amenities” 40USD/day as it looks like they are open for the public and non-hotel guests as well.
One thing we really appreciated was the good noise cancellation in the rooms - our room was right above the pool + bar, but we did not hear much noise, we were able to get a very quiet, restful night of sleep.

Cons:

On-site parking is valet only ($70/day), for self parking there was alternative public parking nearby.

Pros:

This is a historic hotel. The giant slippers and parrots in the lobby, along with the seaside decorations everywhere, showcase the warmth of the California sun…
The location is conveniently located with bus and train stations just a few blocks away. Seaport Village, the USS Midway Museum, and Santa Fe Depot are all within a 20-minute walk.
There are many restaurants and bars nearby, each with its own unique characteristics.
