Basic Hampton Inn, showing its age. Desk staff was efficient, not very friendly. We were only staying one night so didn’t require or expect much. Still, the fact the elevator went out was annoying (rougher for sure for those staying on the third floor), and the crunchy biscuits and watery eggs at breakfast substandard even for this level hotel.

Its dirty and kinda hot
Each motel has its own breakfast culture. Texarcana is a definite Southern style. We have learned to enjoy that, but we do miss "adult" cereals instead of the Kellogg's kiddie options. .
The accommodation's location on the edge of a large shopping centre is useful, but both this year and last year, when we visited the "Mall", it seemed empty. Many images: grandpa caring for young kids, slow walkers around the perimeter, taking advantage of the AC, shops preparing young adults for proms and formals and many empty spaces looking for tenants. America in decline? Or signs of rebuilding?

We did not eat breakfast.
My reservation was made Feb 28th. I specifically requested a 1st floor room because my daughter is handicapped and must use a walker or wheelchair to ambulate. We stayed at this hotel previously and there was a small fire on the 1st floor. we were on the 3rd floor and my daughter COULD NOT navigate the stairs to evacuate( it took her 20 minutes to get to the 1st floor). After the fire that night the elevators DID NOT WORK and she and I were stuck in the breakfast area for 2 hours(thankfully 2 firemen carried her up 3 floors to our room). The fire alarm went off again 1 hour later and we packed up and left for home. My daughter now has severe anxiety about staying on the upper floors of ANY hotel. I always request 1st floor rooms now. When we checked in May 4th we were told no 1st floor room was available. Our room confirmation said we would be given a 1st floor room. My daughter had such a severe anxiety attack she soiled herself. She had to be given a sedative to calm down and sleep. Naturely, the hotel manager was NOT ON PROPERTY. I was told by the desk clerk she would be there between 830 and 9 AM the next morning. We checked out the next morning and were told the manager wouldn't be there until 930 or 10 AM. I am so disappointed and angry at how we were treated. We have stayed at this hotel for over 5 years, twice a year, and I will never stay there again. When a reservation is made, over 2 months in advance, to a hotel that is NOT a major vacation hub HOW DO THEY NOT ACCOMMODATE GUESTS REQUESTS?

The Hampton is kept up to his usual standard with clean rooms a nice breakfast in a good location.
We like this location because there’s all kinds of things nearby many restaurants and stores to choose from. So if you have time to kill or if you need things, you have many choices.
We stop here over and over. The staff has always been very nice.
