Everything was great only thing I wish they had was a way to heat up any leftovers for guest that was my only Cavet everyone was nice and very professional
The quality of the hotel is not what I would expect from Hyatt. Hyatt's name should not be on that hotel. It is old, and in poor condition. There are cracked tiles, scuffed walls everywhere, scratches on the wood floors. Elevator was broken. Housekeeping staff chat loudly in the hallways at 8AM, and management was not helpful. The shower was so low-flow as to be almost unuseable, and management promised to send an engineer to look at it, but did not. This hotel harms the Hyatt brand.
Besides the price of valet parking, everything was great. We did have an issue with the AC not working at first, but they assured us they would take care of it—and they did.
There was a young lady at the front desk (I believe she may have been Asian, though I can’t recall her name) who made me feel so welcome. I genuinely felt like she cared about our experience. The other front desk staff did a great job as well.
Both bartenders were amazing, the cleaning staff kept everything in excellent condition, and the restaurant workers were very kind and professional.
Overall, it was a very good stay.
I have been staying at The Eliza Jane every time I come to New Orleans since 2018/2019 and even after moving to Utah, this is still the only place I book when I return home.
Eight years later, the service is just as exceptional as it was the very first time. That kind of consistency is rare.
The customer service here is truly impeccable. I could write pages about the countless times the staff has gone above and beyond for me over the years. They are consistently charismatic, empathetic, attentive, and genuinely caring. This is not just hospitality, it’s heart.
I want to personally thank Shanae, who wouldn’t let me touch a single one of my bags (and as a girl on a four-day trip… that says everything).
Jerna was welcoming, warm, enthusiastic, and endlessly accommodating throughout my entire stay.
And Jona, you can literally hear her smile through the phone. Every time I called the concierge (and yes, I’m a needy little woman 😅), she made me feel cared for from the very first “hello.”
This is not just a hotel. This is a family. Every employee I’ve encountered over the years has been nothing short of impeccable.
I couldn’t recommend The Eliza Jane enough. Eight years and running, and I am absolutely spoiled.
The level of service provided here is not easily replicated; and honestly, they’ve made it incredibly hard for me to stay anywhere else.
Amazing experience. Perfect location, staff and services. Absolutely excellent stay during busy Mardi Gras weekend
Wonderful and chic hotel close to downtown and parade route. The edition suite is perfect for families with kids. The locations is close to parade route and many great restaurants and stores
Buyer Beware — Hidden Fees and a Fraudulent $350 "Smoking Fee"
My wife and I traveled to New Orleans for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons conference and stayed 4 nights at the Eliza Jane. This is trendy-looking hotel which I now regret recommending. The room and decor are nice, but the customer service was horrible and the billing was deceptive.
After checkout I was surprised to find undisclosed fees on my bill. There was a $30/day “destination fee” that was never mentioned at booking or at check-in? Although I have seen charges like that before from other hotels, it is usually disclosed upfront. That was annoying enough, but even worse was a $350 “Smoking Fee.” My wife and I were the only two people in the room and neither of us smoke. When I called to dispute the charge, the manager on duty told me they have sensors in the room that detect smoking. If true, since neither of us smoke, the only possible explanations would be a false sensor reading or that a hotel employee smoked in the room? — neither of which is acceptable. When I challenged her "room sensor" argument, she got angry saying I was the one being unreasonable and hung up on me, Unbelievably unprofessional!
I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. I will gladly pay all legitimate charges except this fraudulent $350 smoking fee. I am also filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana/New Orleans and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Section.
If you’re considering this hotel: beware of hidden daily fees and be prepared to fight unjust charges after checkout. I hope management will do the right thing and refund the smoking fee immediately.
Requested action: Refund the $350 smoking fee and provide a written explanation of how this charge was incurred. Avoid this hotel or be prepared to waste VALUABLE time challenging fraudulent charges with absolutely no proof.
The hotel is lovely, very pretty. The fitness room is very nice. Just make sure when you book your room not to book it on the side that faces the dumpsters. They come to empty them at 4:30 in the morning making a HUGE noise and crash when they drop them down waking you. Also make sure to request your room isn't next to the elevator. Mine was and I heard it running all night long. The location is perfect. Close to Royal Street and Bourbon Street
This is a jewel of a location, not too big and not too small. All of the amenities are there, small pool, workout room, great downstairs lounge area, restaurant and fabulous bar and bartenders.
I had a lovely stay and the hotel staff was amazing but waking up to over $500 pending charges on my account was not fun. I have never experienced a hotel not telling me fees to be paid upfront during check in. I was only made aware of 150 incidental fee. Never was I made aware about a destination fee. They took that fee off my card but overcharged me so instead of 99.00 they placed two charged of 236.27 and then a 353.27 charge that “they sometimes charge on the day of check out” but i still dont know what the charge is for. If it wasn’t the money being taken out of my account without my knowledge I definitely would have stayed at this hotel again.
Never felt this looked after by the staff anywhere. Totally recommended! From the sidewalk to the mattress, all i was missing was being tucked in. Which they may have considered for my own safty. Couldn't find a better stay in the city!
My husband and I were stuck in New Orleans because of the storm, so I booked a room at The Eliza Jane, which was so wonderful.
We arrived in the morning, and we were greeted by Vaughn at the front desk, who was so friendly and welcoming. I knew then that I chose the right hotel.
Our room was large and comfortable, bottled water was included, and we were given tokens for a free punch or non-alcoholic drink at the bar. There are comfortable lounging areas, too.
The location is perfect, the staff there is so nice…and extra kudos to Vaughn!!!
We enjoyed our stay. However, a few things should have been clearer: (1) the pictures they have of the Deluxe room bathrooms are incorrect. They are smaller with a shower tub combo. They do not have the large bathroom with a separate shower and tub. (2) It feels dishonest to me to advertise a rate, but to then charge $30 per night for a "Destination fee". We all understand that taxes are more, but this is not a tax. This is for "amenities" even if you don't want to use them. This is something that a hotel that's trying to be as nice as this should not have to do.
The location of this boutique style hotel is perfect - near the French Quarter but not in the middle of the noise! The hotel was clean and the staff were excellent. The room was a little odd - it had a bar height table with two chairs, but no regular chairs to sit in and no closet - a portable clothing rack in the room. That said it was spacious and faced the interior courtyard, so it was quiet, which was a priority for us.
The food in the restaurant was fair at best. We ate dinner there since we got in late and was not impressed. Go elsewhere to eat.
Overall a pleasant stay.
Beware of this hotel! Visited New Orleans and the Eliza Jane for a wedding in January. Wedding was hosting a welcome party in the hotel and when we returned to our room after the event, items had been stolen. It was clear someone at the hotel with a room key went into our room and took our items. Other guests with the wedding had items stolen as well during the welcome party. It was clear it was an inside job as the person who stole the items knew many guests of the hotel would be at the welcome party and not in their rooms. Front desk staff did not care. The staff did not address our safety concerns for the remainder of our stay so we decided to check out early and find a hotel nearby which the Eliza Jane refused to refund us for our stay and they have yet to follow up on compensation regarding our lost items. Overall, beware and if you do stay, lock up valuables in safe. We did have shoes taken, so I guess even lock up your sneakers in the safe— this was suggested by the front desk supervisor when we reported the theft. Essentially put anything in the safe you don’t want stolen, even shoes according to staff!! I decided to research the Eliza Jane after the fact, and I can see many other accounts of theft on the property. Seems like they have an issue at this property that staff do not seem to care to solve, honestly, they’re probably all in on it. Don’t stay here!
Everything about this hotel was PERFECT: price, locale, cleanliness, and unique art. The only lacking detail was the bartender (older gray-haired male, didn’t catch his name). NOLA is the most welcoming, accepting city I’ve visited. This bartender was bothered by one question regarding simple drink ingredients. Very odd for all the times I’ve visited this city. Definitely not the norm.
Great hotel. Beds were very comfortable. Lobby and bar area was uniquely decorated and overall really cool.
