Awful place to stay. Please avoid. Rooms very tired and run down. Our bathroom was dirty and bed looked like it had not been changed.
Staff not helpful at all. Maids were not interested in complaints. Won’t be returning
I live in Spain & I booked the hotel in December as I know most of the staff as it was in my old home town. I was travelling alone so new I would feel safe.
Well yesterday I was travelling back to Kinross for 4 nights to surprise my sister for her birthday.
Got to the airport and went right through security.
Noticed on my phone a message from booking.com to say that the Green Hotel had cancelled my booking. I phoned to be told that they didnt have a room for me! ( booked 2 months ago)
I was so upset & angry that I came back through security and jumped in a taxi and went home.
Yes I could have stayed with numerous friends but if I had wanted to do that then I wouldnt have booked in the first place. I'm not good with change as I like to plan well in advance. If they had even told me a few days before but telling me on the day was shocking!
To them I am just a booking.com faceless customer!. Not Happy! 😭.
We were looking for somewhere to have a cup of tea on our way back from Edinburgh to Aberdeen, and this was one of the few places open after 4pm on a Friday.
We were a bit cautiious as the exterior did look a bit shabby - but as it was yet another wet and dark afternoon, I'm not sure that anywhere would've looked great!
As soon as we walked through the door we realised that the interior is so much better. The bar area was very comfortable, with great sofas. We were amazed to find that the bar had cakes - I ordered a scone, which was served warm with butter and really good jam (so often the let down when it's served in those horrible plastic packets). It was really delicious, so all of my expectations were proved wrong. My husband had a muffin, equally good. Tea and coffee were also fine. The barman who served us was very friendly and helpful, as was the lasy at reception.
I see that people have complained about the toilets. I'm not sure if there are several throughout the ground floor, but the ones we used were absolutely fine.
We'd definitely stop here again.
We come here for live music at Mundell Music at rear of hotel to support live music
Every time I come I feel disappointed
Bar food is ok staff friendly but the place lacks a soul
Any nice decor can be forgotten the minute you enter the toilets on ground floor
A mixture of infant school toilets and middle class old fashioned wallpaper from the past when times were better
Live music venue toilets are a joke
Feel like public toilets
Nothing warm or inviting
Please DO Something !!!
It’s so embarrassing
Only good thing was there was bleach in the toilet
The room we were given was diisgusting. Badly stained carpet
Stained flooring in bathroom
Curtains in tatters, literally
Window sill filthy
Wallpaper falling from wall
Furniture badly stained
No restaurant only pub food in bar
Told they were refurbishing but we have been here a number of times over 10 years and they have been refurbishing all this time.
Corridor carpets covered in tape and woodwork very chipped.
Refurbished room while better didn't have lampshade on light, and was cheaply done .
Never again.
Four of us booked for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was busy but we realised there was a band on.I had fish and chips which I classed as average and the other 3 had balmoral chicken which they all enjoyed. I tasted a bit and it was good. We finished with coffee and tea. The coffee came on a tray with everything you would need which included a glass of iced water. A nice touch. The staff were very polite and attentive.
Would I return? Yes. I have attended a number of concerts here but have never eaten.
Stayed overnight for 1 night.
While the staff were friendly and generally helpful, this place is let down by the poor condition of the fabric of the hotel.
The carpets, lighting, genral layout of the room, including electrical sockets in the room are all very dated and require a decent revamp. The room was large, clean, as was the bed, but the old sash windows couldn't be opened as cords were snapped. The main room light ( single lightbulb) come on randomly in the middle of the night. Not a good experience !
The restaurant food was average but the prices were above average for the overall hotel experience. The one and only toaster in the restaurant was broken and toast could be separately ordered via the staff who were already run off their feet. Breakfast was finished by the time it arrived.
The hotel is in a fantastic area, near Loch Leven for fishing and historical castle, RSPB reserve, a golf complex across the road.
The stay was more like being in a dated Youth Hostel rather then a hotel.
As already stated, the staff were fantastic and could not be faulted.
The owners need to spend some serious money to bring this hotel up to a standard that is now expected by the traveller. I would not use again.
We were given a voucher for dinner bed and breakfast and were quite apprehensive about going after reading the reviews.
However, we paid £20 to upgrade and our room was large, clean and recently refurbished.
I'll be honest and say dinner wasn't great. Service was fast - too fast.
I had pate which was well presented in a little stack, however the oatcakes were soggy so it had obviously been prepared in advance.
Breakfast was nice enough though.
The staff were wonderful and we had a lovely time at a gig in Backstage.
Another thing to note was a lack of alcohol free options in both bars, quite disappointing.
We'll definitely stay again, but probably won't eat dinner there, unless there are some improvements.
First of all I would like to mention the staff, really friendly and a asset to the hotel, First impression of the hotel is nice, but it's a really tired place that needs a revamp,We went as a group of 10 golfers for 2 nights dinner B/B, breakfast was good lots of choice, dinner was pre booked and not up to the standard of breakfast, At the back of the hotel there is a room for gigs and a lovely sports/music bar. Would I go back to this hotel, It's a yes.
The accommodation was awful, 1970s decor, shabby and tired. Badly stained bathroom floor, and walls. Peeling wallpaper and mouldy corners. Stained carpet and single sheet with no mattress cover , very unhealthy. Needed a good shower after we left..
Evening meal only just edible. Staff were however delightful.
We stayed one night at the Green Hotel. The staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and clean and there were plenty of good options for breakfast. It was easy to get a parking space. However some of the hotel decor was quite dated, for example the carpets in our corridor showed plenty of signs of wear and tear.
Overall the hotel was reasonable value for money.
The Green Hotel has character and charm. Currently being remodeled, some of it is in a shabby chic state at present. But I prefer that over boring and bland. The spaciousness was also a welcome change over tiny rooms. They do a great breakfast, serving both hot and cold items with plenty of choice. Their affordable price enabled us to go to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The cost savings was worth the extra drive. So, all things considered, we'd stay there again -- gladly!
Stayed at Green Hotel and played Golf at both Kinross courses.
The service we received from every member of Staff was outstanding.
From arrival a warm friendly welcome at Reception then throughout our short stay every member of staff where fantastic.
The food was delicious and very freshly prepared.
The 2 Golf courses where superb and even the weather was glorious.
Already booked again for next year.
Thanks to everyone
Should and would be 5 star but bathroom in room (9) was old and tired
All staff top notch from reception to all other staff encountered credit to them made a great weekend much better
2 golf courses and great weather just rounded off a great time
Thanks
I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. I had to contact them about an issue and they were not helpful at all, the wait time was also very long.
Rotten to the core!
Mould on room ceiling and walls
Wallpaper and paint hanging off
No hot water
Food inedible
Staff who actively informed us what food NOT to eat
Mattresses have springs protruding terribly
No bath towels in room and had none to give us
Bath was stained black
Bathroom floor was black with mould
Shambles of a place!!
I was pleasantly surprised with the place. Huge room and felt comfortable. I would go back when I'm in the area again!!!
Hotel in need of a major upgrade in regards to the bedrooms, (which are happening), as well as surrounding walkways.
Beds were horrificly hard, felt like we were sleeping on the floor. Our room had ripped wallpaper, and clear evidence of mould.
Kept awake by local seagulls making noise for most of the night. This would have been partly avoided if the windows had been double glazed and the wooden frames not rotten, and barely closing.
Evening bar meals were ok, staff in the bar were very good TBF.
Breakfast had a good selection, and staff were again very good.
Overall, the hotel is let down by the quality of the rooms, staff were very good, but would not stay there again in a hurry, unless the rooms had a significant upgrade.
I can’t really fault our stay. The rooms were clean. Food was excellent at both dinner and breakfast with plenty of choice. All staff couldn’t have treated us any better. Yes, it is a bit old fashioned and some places are in need of refurbishment, but this appears to be an ongoing process. It is ideal for golfers, cyclists, tourists etc. who only want a few nights stay.
We only played the Montgomery course, due to storm Floris, but it was in excellent condition.
We were a group of 8 golfers due to travel on Monday 4th August for 2 nights. Unfortunately, due to storm Floris, the courses were closed and the advice was not to travel unless necessary, so we missed out on one nights DB&B and a round of golf. Not only has the hotel honoured our booking at a later date, but have also thrown in a second round of golf free of charge.
Shabby and run down torn carpets in hallways and stairs needed cleaned stained and un vacuumed
Furniture missing handles etc moss growing on windows of bedroom
Expensive for such poor quality
Food mediocre restaurant closed only bar food
Staff weren’t t going to serve us a sandwich at 2.40 despite website and checking sheet saying bar food served all afternoon
Receptionist trying her best but most of staff inadequate
I could go on
