The swimming pool!
Very comfortable. Basic but ample breakfast. Very respectful staff.
Poolside beds are controlled by the poolman, request one early. Aircon broke but was fixed on 3rd request (within a couple of hours.)
Positives -
We were pleasantly surprised with hotel and very reasonable for the price we paid.
Great location - close to main street good for shopping, restaurants and 20min walk to Medina. Mini shop round the corner very cheap for snacks and drinks.
Room was large, with air con and we had a queen bed. We didnt pay for the upgrade so was an older room yet to be renovated but suited us fine. Mini fridge and safe in room. Large sofa also. Bathroom basic, no qualms.
Pool is a great size.
Breakfast was lovely variety of omelette, hot food, pastries and cold selection. Lunch bar menu also very tasty - pizza and chicken burger were lovely!
Whilst "no alcohol", beer is served at bar in bottles.
Negatives --
It is run down, look closely and there is plenty of maintenence issues around the pool and in the rooms (which they are sorting). Parasols around the pool need replacing (and I would suggest they dont get dragged around daily!)
So many sun loungers are left for the day with towels on them - be better to hand out a card at check in to use to claim a towel and if lose card pay a fine - more people wouldn't leave their towels that way and make it easier to move about the pool and find a space.
Water bottles should be allowed at the pool also - i get why no fizzy as they want money at the bar but water is a simple human right.

We were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews but have been pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, clean and spacious. Big bathroom. Super comfy beds and air conditioning. Not much more you can ask for when you are out most of the time anyway. The breakfast was great, we thought. Everything from fresh pastries (big selection) to hot food, to European meats and cheeses, cereals, freshly squeezed juices, yoghurts, fresh fruit, coffee machine, freshly made Moroccan breads, made in front of you and an omlette station. Can’t fault it, at all! ❤️ The staff at the front desk were so lovely and friendly and Azziz, the pool guy was outstanding! Yes the bar guys weren’t the happiest souls but nothing I couldn’t cope with! 🤷🏼♀️ The highlight to our holiday was using the Spa. It is downstairs just beside the pool and the staff were incredible. We had the Hammam treatment and massage and it was THE best we have ever had. The girls were super friendly, thorough and really knew what they were doing. It was so good that even though we were only there for 5 nights, we went back and had the same treatments a second time, the day we were leaving. A definite must when staying at the hotel. Overall, we thought it was great, the drinks were cold, the food we ordered was lovely and 99% of the staff were friendly and welcoming, so we will definitely be back. Thank you Diwane Hotel & Spa 🥰
Just spent 4 days at this hotel and whilst things weren't perfect we had an enjoyable stay and definitely for what we paid had great value for money. Firstly, our room and public areas in the hotel were really clean. The pool was a godsend to escape the fiery 43 degree heat. It's not a massive area, but then it's not a huge hotel. The pool attendant was very friendly, efficient and helped everyone get a sun lounger and provided mattresses and towels. Almost all of the staff throughout the hotel were great, although there was one guy who worked behind the bar who seemed generally grumpy towards customers. Maybe it was the heat getting to him?
Breakfast was ok. Fresh eggs/omelettes made, hot foods, salad stuffs, breads, pastries etc. The coffee & juices were good. There was sometimes a wait for glasses and plates to be replaced.
Our room was advertised as deluxe. It was basic, but fine for our needs. TV had 3 or 4 English language channels. Bed was large and comfortable. The air con worked fine and was a relief to come back to after being in the hot weather and that applies to both day and night time The mini fridge was great to keep cold drinks in which was needed as sitting on the balcony it was as hot as the surface of the sun even at 4am!
The location was great with shops, restaurants and bars really close by. Cafe Atlas 2 minutes walk away was great for an ice cold beer and fir food the little Lebanese restaurant opposite the hotel was gorgeous and cheap as chips!
Overall a good stay.
Stayed for 3 days and it was great not to have to.pay for a beach towel and the pool attendant was super helpful. The same could not be said of the bar staff who were very unfriendly and also slow. Why does it take 20 minutes to deliver ice cream ? The breakfast was a constant search to find basics like bowls and glasses. The pool itself is a perfect temperature to escape the 40 degrees heat.
If you are looking for a good value budget hotel, then the Diwane hits the mark. If you’re looking for 5 star luxury then you may need to wait until they have fully refurbished the place.
On arrival we were advised if we didn’t like the room they could upgrade us (a hint as to what to expect). The room however was clean and spacious. As we were only staying 3 nights it was fine, although desperately in need of a refresh. Breakfast was ok with all the offerings you would expect The omelette station was a good option although expect a wait during busy periods. The real star of the show is Assif. The pool attendant who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. I always tip but regardless,he was worth every penny and more. Reception staff were helpful and courteous and overall we were happy with our stay. Especially for what we paid. The only real negative which has left a sour taste was the bar staff. Had previously read a couple of reviews that mentioned them negatively. However did not have any preconceived ideas. Final day and feel they deliberately short changed me on the bill. Even after tipping. Had to question twice before getting resolved, and even then still short.
BEWARE THIS HOTEL NO LONGER SERVES ALCOHOL
I have been to this hotel 4 times over the past four years.
BUT NEVER AGAIN!!’
It’s always been a great hotel with half decent rooms and great staff.
Not any more.
First the good stuff.
The pool guy ( I forget his name ) has always been fantastic) looking after everyone.
The upgraded room we had was ok but the taps in the bathroom look like they’ve never been cleaned.
Now the bad stuff, four months ago apparently the hotel stopped serving alcohol.
So if you are like myself and my wife, who like to lay by the pool with a glass of wine and a cool beer in the heat.
All you will now get is warm coke and water.
The staff in the pool bar used to be very friendly and worked hard. The new ones are rude and very unfriendly.
Yes they bring you food out when you order but they don’t clear it in fact the only time they come near the pool is to bring out the food.
We only ordered twice tbh the pizza on the first occasion was edible just, but the burger we ordered the next day was pink inside so we never eat there again.
After eating both meals after an hour of waiting for them to be cleared I had to get up and take the leftovers to the counter as they were getting covered in flies next to our bed.
The pool staff moaned that I was paying by card ( which I’d always done before and had a tab open).
Now they wanted cash, so I reluctantly withdrew money from the ATM to pay. The bill was 205 dirham (approximately £18.
But the machine only gave out 200 and 100 bills. Therefore when I paid the 205 bill they moaned at me again as I only had large bills. So I told them I would get the 5 dirham (approximately 40 pence ) the next day.
The next morning I went there especially to pay back the 5 dirham. I gave them a 10 dirham coin and he threw it in the till and sat there.
I waited for the change but he just ignored me. It’s only 5 dirham but it is the principle and shows how rude and disrespectful they are.
The newly refurbished room that we paid €90 for three nights was ok but we had problems with the lights and the key card failed twice so I had to go from the 5 th floor back down to reception in 36 degree heat twice in three days.
Couple all of this with the no alcohol policy.Even at night with their entertainment. We unfortunately will never set foot in this hotel again.
It used to be a solid 4 star now I wouldn’t give it 2 stars.
zwembad
dame aan balie was behoorlijk onvriendelijk. wel zeer goede ontvangst door man
Before travelling, I had seen several bad reviews of this hotel and was therefore, anxious about what to expect. My fears were completely unfounded, we felt very welcome and they really looked after us. I travelled with my 17 year old daughter and although we arrived in the morning, too early to check in, they made every effort to get the room ready within an hour and gave us a choice of room.
The rooms are beautiful, very clean and spacious.
The staff are so helpful, particularly the man who puts the towels on the sunbeds. He was amazing, he really couldn't do enough for us.
The breakfast is good, varied options. The evening meals we had at the hotel were delicious, very reasonable in price too. Again the staff service was exceptional.
The location is good and the atmosphere is very chilled.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
L'emplacement
L'accueil la journée et pas l'après 18h
L'accueil après 18h n'était professionnelle, ne savait pas gérer l'information.
Where do I start.. from the moment I walked into the hotel, it was the most magical experience. From checking in to being taken to my room was prompt, friendly and they could not do enough for me. I arrived quite late. Upgrade your room, the renovated rooms are beautiful and well worth it. My room was spotlessly cleaned each day. People have expressed concern about road noise, you are the centre of Marrakesh!!. It was not loud and did not bother me at all. The city is alive, embrace that. Breakfast was great and the hotel team again was amazing, especially Haitian, Ahmed and I have forgotten the ladies name (sorry). They work tirelessly to make your stay an incredible experience. Nothing is too much trouble. Then there is Aziz, pool guy. What a guy, so focused on the guests, attending to your needs. Works long hours, always with a smile. A true professional, who clearly loved his work. All the guests loved him. Hotel Manager Karim in my eyes has nailed the level of service and experience for guests. The team, hotel and location and is a true Marrakech experience, and so close to explore places of interest. Lastly, please tip. They do not expect it, but they work so hard and in my view go above and beyond for you. That deserves a little reward, don’t you think. I will so be back. Thank you Mandy x
