Heritage an well located
All good . Always full so can be difficult to reserve
L'emplacement idéal, la qualité du service et des équipements, le personnel au petit soin, un havre de paix au cœur de la ville de Mysore !
Ideally located, great swimming pool , staff really friendly
Look and feel of the palace
Very poor wifi service
Magnifique chambre, les repas sont excellents, le personnel est serviable et accueillant
le bruit de la ville
Wonderful
It is a heritage property with lots of elements from the past
It can be noisy, as the main road runs past the hotel. There is also a big discrepancy amongst staff. Buffet trays can be left empty, and the level of attention can be lacking at times.
The Ambience
No ventilation in the toilets
Rooms and services
Wonderfully attentive service, beautiful communal areas
Cheaper rooms looked a little tired particularly in the bathroom but were spotlessly clean and very comfortable
Our second visit to this hotel and this attractive city; very different from more modern and hectic places we have visited, with wide pavements and interesting colonial architecture as well as the wonderful market, the mighty palace and a wonderful array of shops of all sorts. Plenty of day trips and, if you have time for a lovely city-based lakeside stroll, catch an auto to Karanji Lake. The Royal Orchid is a great base from which to do all your explorations; very near the station of Mysore Junction; a short drive to the airport; a stroll to the main shopping streets and the Palace itself. The building is very fine; the food is good - with excellent choice for vegetarians - and served in an attractive alfresco courtyard; the service is warm and friendly.
We opted not to have breakfast at the hotel this time; it is a good standard buffet - but we chose to eat at one of the many cafes or food stalls that are easy to find in Mysore to add variety to this, our second visit.
Centrally located in a rustic and quaint historical building.
The jacuzzi in our room did not work despite the technician checking on it.
The building is really terrific, oozing colonial charm. On the edge of the city centre and just a short walk from the trainstation. The rooms are large, and stylish. Bathrooms are up to date. The staff is very friendly,
The place has the looks AND the prices of a 5 star hotel, but not the organisation or finesses. We enjoyed our stay but there is a lot of room for improvement. Not many breakfast options and the coffeemachine was placed rather odd in a corner, with just china cups and no saucers. The advertised High Tea at 4pm was just a pot of free tea and some dry cookies. And the swimming pool area felt a bit neglected. My stretcher was broken, the pool guy took a quick look, tried to fix the backrest and then left. 5 minutes later the backrest fell again. No wonder, the hinges were broken. We. had to explicitly ask for towels. All minor problems but they do add up.
