The Holiday Inn Express & Suites White River Junction is one of the worst IHG properties we have seen. Pay the extra money to stay elsewhere when visiting White River Junction.
Let's break it down:
Rooms:
- The dump hasn't been updated in 15+ years. Paint is chipping everywhere, cabinets are falling apart, doors don't properly close.
- Everything looks and feels like it is covered in a decade's worth of human dirt and grime.
- As you can see from the pictures, the room upon check in was filthy. Walls covered in some brown substance, uncleaned body hair in the bathtub. I wanted to vomit.
Staff:
- Toilet was clogged (not by us, it was like this upon arrival). We called for a fix before we left for dinner. We returned an hour later to...a clogged toilet.
- A lot of turnover at this property. I looked at the General Manager's responses to other reviews, and there are 3 people in the past 2 years. If they can't keep a GM to stay more than 8 months on staff, it is obvious there is an ownership issue at the top. Seems like they are not investing in their staff and cheaping out.
Sleep:
- Doors were very thin. Standing in the hallway, I could hear everything happening in each room. So that means you can hear noise all night long.
If you read how the staff there respond to these reviews, they have been promising to share feedback with "housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure improvements are made." Except it is the same complaints over and over again. Nothing changes. For example, in a review from Sep 2025, someone commented about mold in the rooms. There was mold in our room, so clearly it was ignored for the past 4 months.
This hotel has gotten worse over the years. We’d stayed here over many ski seasons and this visit was the worst.
The rooms are not maintained. The door is patched together and the air filter is extremely dirty. The bathroom was tired looking.
The room was tidied but they didn’t replenish the k cups.
Breakfast was not as nice as it used to be and was not tidy. The breakfast attend was nowhere to be found.
The front desk person in the evening was extremely unpleasant.
We don’t recommend staying here.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The parking garage under the hotel was great, I dint need to shovel lots of snow and the breakfast was very good. A lot to choose from
