This hotel has everything we needed - comfortable bed, coffee maker, adequate bathroom and outdoor pool. It is a comfortable older building with cracks and personality - a lot like New Orleans itself. The staff will do whatever you request and treat everyone like family.
I absolutely loved this hotel. Our room was large and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Fantastic location.
The place is ok if you don’t expect a lot. There were just a lot of things you take for granted in other places that weren’t here.
For starters. The picture shown here of the entry must be VERY old. I don’t think it’s seen a paint brush since then. They didn’t have a mat inside the door, someone had thrown down a bath towel.
There was no heat in the room during the cold snap, our room was 65°. There isn’t recirculating hot water so you have to wait several minutes waiting for it in the shower and waste quite a bit of water in the process.
There was only one hanger in the armoire, so good luck hanging anything up. The towel rack fell off the wall the first night and there was no shower curtain.
Wifi worked for about the first 8 hours of a 3 day stay, the staff was pretty ambivalent, just shrugged and said “yeah, maybe it’s the weather”.
The mostly empty popcorn maker off the lobby wasn’t cleaned for 2 days.
We like the place for its proximity to Frenchmen St., but it’s hard to overlook this kind of stuff.
The property was well maintained, the staff was polite, the bed was very comfortable and we were in walking distance to everything fun in the French Quarter.
My only complaint was the back property entrance-exit door which was slamming at all hours of the night. I asked if we could be moved, however we were told that the property was sold out for the weekend and we could not be accommodated. I recommend this place as long as you’re not staying in the back of the property as you will be woken all night if that door issue isn’t resolved.
I recently stayed at Lamothe House during a solo 3-night solo visit to the Big Easy. This place is a hidden gem and definitely for those who favor old world charm over modern (soulless) designs and brand new everything etc. It’s in a quiet neighborhood yet a short walk to the French Quarter. The courtyard and pool are quite lovely. The Misses Carol, Carlette, and Shwanda (I apologize for any misspellings) are extremely kind, helpful, and gems in their own right. The only reason I’m rating this place a 4/5 is that the coffee maker in my room did not work, though in fairness to the hotel staff, I didn’t raise this issue while there. I would NOT hesitate to stay here again or recommend this place to anyone I know planning a visit to NOLA.
Great location!! I would stay there again!!
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, well maintained historic property with the benefit of a lovely courtyard and pool.
This hotel is ideal for people who get the tradeoffs that historic properties can include uneven floors and not having an elevator.
The one negative element is Lamothe's move to digital keys. You have to download an app to get your key and the app often does not work. Internet can be tricky in large older buildings and it often took me three tries or more to get into my room. Downloading and fiddling with an app is an added effort and not as easy or hospitable a getting a key.
Other than that, I recommend Lamothe. It's value is way beyond what you'd expect from a two star hotel.
Lovely hotel. Extrmeley conveninet with nearby Frenchmen Street. Solid AC. Comfy bed.
Great location
Very nice historic property. Very friendly staff, great location. The pool made our day after walking the French Quarter.
The staff on Thur and Fri were great Sat and Sunday not so much didn't even say thanks or come back again or really anything The lady on staff earlier in the week was fantastic and deserves a raise , the room was small would have been nice to have a table or chair to set things on. But the room was clean and no bugs ans for being near the front not really noisy room again the lady on staff very pleasant went above and beyond and what I expect in a city I visit often for its southwrn charm and hospitality.
Beautiful balcony room. Our room was regularly cleaned and staff was so nice. The courtyard is awesome and we enjoyed the proximity to Frenchman st. Happy to stay again!
This was our 3rd time staying here and will be back!
Beautiful property, well maintained & clean. My king room was spacious, comfortable & didn’t I catch his name but guy at check-in was very pleasant. The biggest highlights are the Pool - it’s clean, plenty of seating & so refreshing!!. The location can’t be beat. It’s literally 1 block from Frenchman St - so close enough to Bourbon but far away enough to be quiet & civilized.
Highly recommend (& ask for a room by the “back gate” and you are even closer to all the action!)
Cool
Perfect location
Cleaning was not good
Our first time visiting New Orleans and it will definitely will not be my last. Lamothe house hotel was beautiful. The hotel is kept very well for a vintage building and the area is full of history. Our suite was great, clean and spacious. The courthouse was amazing. I want to give big props to Ms. Carol who helped us immensely when we arrive. She’s was very polite and helpful. I’mso happy I chose this hotel. Thank you for everything.
Hotel was conveniently located. Pool was a nice benefit.
Water did not drain in the shower at all, air conditioning was very cool, pool was very nice, bathroom was small.
