The location was great as our son is attending university of Delaware
The breakfast only offered buffet at the time we were there. They did not offer any à la carte options.
Location. Very clean
Nothing
Location
Location, cleanliness
If you are booking through a third party MAKE SURE BEFORE you LEAVE to check your credit card charges. They had the audacity to be annoyed after double charging me for the hotel room. Breakfast was also included in which they charged me for as well. Mistakes Happen but when you make a mistake regardless who the employee is or was there should be some sort of apology or at the least not be annoyed. I should be the one annoyed here!
The staff at the Courtyard by Marriott Newark-University of Delaware was incredibly kind and welcoming, especially Taj, Ador, and the bartender Ed. They truly made the stay enjoyable and went above and beyond with their hospitality. Because of them, the experience started off great.
Unfortunately, my experience with the room cleaning team completely changed how I felt about the stay. I had purchased a new luxury eyebrow pencil for a wedding and placed it deep inside my makeup bag, inside another bag, before leaving the room. When I returned after housekeeping had cleaned, my eyebrow pencil was gone and both of my bags had been left open. I was honestly appalled and extremely uncomfortable knowing my personal belongings had clearly been searched through.
I immediately contacted the front desk to report it, and while I appreciate them looking into it, even if the item “turns up,” the trust is already broken for me. I would strongly recommend that guests do not leave valuables or important personal items in the room, or avoid housekeeping access altogether if possible.
It’s disappointing because the front desk staff and bartender were wonderful, but this situation made the stay feel unsafe and unsettling.
Clean, good location
All rooms were not ready at 3pm check in
I don’t write reviews all of the time, but I am very particular when it comes to food and service — and these were without a doubt the BEST crab cakes I have ever had in my life. Absolutely packed with crab, perfectly seasoned, and cooked beautifully. Every bite was incredible. Even the sides were fresh and delicious, and the sauce paired with the crab cakes was amazing.
What made the experience even better was the staff. Friendly, attentive, welcoming, and genuinely kind from beginning to end. You can tell they truly care about their guests and the overall experience.
I’m currently staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Newark-University of Delaware for a task force assignment helping with the Power of M transition, and this meal honestly made my night after a long day. Thank you
A special shout out to the Manager Rebecca and AGM Michael for running such a beautiful hotel with an outstanding team. It absolutely shows. Also, a huge thank you to the bartender who was not only tending bar, but also waiting tables and taking care of guests all evening with such a positive attitude and amazing service. That level of teamwork and hospitality does not go unnoticed. The front desk team picked up the new system very fast and showed confidence navigating through the new system. They are ROCK STARS!
If you’re anywhere near Newark, Delaware — get the crab cakes. You will not regret it
And now I know why they are rated #1!
I give them a 10 out of 10!!
Nothing decidedly good or bad about the property. It’s an older courtyard with some updating, tvs are small, thermostats are analog, furniture is older and style is outdated (round chairs and couches). The rooms are clean and the front desk people are nice and try to be helpful. The windows in the rooms are not sound proofed and we ended up on the end of the hotel by the main road. If you’re a light sleeper you will get woken up. Overall older style courtyard and pretty much what you’d expect from the brand these days.
