Expensive but a good experience at Smiths - not Gretna Hall Hotel
Pros:

The change in venue to Smiths was a positive one as rooms at Gretna Hall hotel offered not to standard off price paid
Staff were attentive and accommodating to achieve this
Whole hotel was spotless and clean with comfortable and well designed modern seating areas
Good parking facilities
Bedroom was large and quiet with good sized shower and toilet facilities on 2nd floor looking out to fields

Cons:

Close to M6 but room at front quiet apart from silage tractors passing constantly till early evening
High price

The best wedding stay!!!!
Pros:

We knew we wanted to book this hotel for our wedding due to the historical appeal of it and we were getting married at the Coach House on site. It did not disappoint at all!

On arrival staff were friendly and quick at getting us all checked in, we met with our wedding host in the lounge area to go over final details and she was lovely and very informative. This helped to calm last minute nerves.

We actually upgraded our room to the Wakefield and Turner suite and my god was it totally worth the extra cost. The room was spacious, gorgeous and I could have lived in there forever! The room was conveniently kitted out with a fridge, hairdryer, ironing board and iron (though we didn’t use the hair dryer or ironing board it was nice to have). The room was clean and housekeeping replenished towels etc during our stay! I felt the room was sound proof and we didn’t really hear the other wedding receptions going on just down the stairs!

The hotel is within walking distance to local amenities such as the old blacksmiths shop and museum + the Caledonian outlet village, which has fantastic shops and places to eat. On both nights we actually ordered a takeaway from Mehmets Cinebar Fryery, which was a short 5 minute drive away. The food was ready quickly and was great for what we like!

The witnesses on our wedding day (staff from the hotel) were lovely ladies. Very welcoming and helped us to feel at ease with the whole process. The witnesses also took a photo of us at the wedding and had it printed out and put it a lovely little card that was slid under our door that same night. This was a very thoughtful touch and just made us feel really special.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and provided the perfect scenery for our wedding photos!

On our last day we had breakfast in the hotel, which I thought was brilliant. It was a buffet style with plenty of choice that catered for everyone. The breakfast food was gorgeous and the croissant I had, was the softest croissant I have ever had.

Checking out was quick and easy, staff made conversation with us about our stay and we were very pleased with everything.

We will definitely return in the future to relive our amazing wedding memories!

Niet voor herhaling vatbaar
Pros:

Vriendelijk personeel.
Uitgebeid en lekker ontbijt

Cons:

Heel kleine kamer. Geen extra's (o.a. koelkastje safe...). Vasttapijt en zetel vol vlekken.
Het uitzicht vanuit onze kamer was ronuit afschuwelijk!

Good stop over
Pros:

Overnight stop over on trip north. Hotel just off Motorway, very convienient. Room very good, breakfast buffet good. Ample parking.

Cons:

Room very hot as heating on full blast. Fine when turned off and window opened. If you like a cool room ask in booking for heat to be off. Shower good but couldn't find a shower non-slip mat, made showering a bit dodgy. Found the mat in the end (too late) rolled up in the cabinet under the sink. A message on a sticker on the shower screen would help.

A really good stop off point on our long Scottish journey.
Pros:

Breakfast was good quality with plenty of options. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The grounds at the front of the hotel are extensive and picturesque.

Cons:

The room was very warm even though we turned off the radiator. We did have the window open for a while but the noise from the nearby motorway meant we had to close it.

Good stay, would definitely stay again
Pros:

Been before, but many years ago. Great location just off of motorway. Our room was clean and comfy. Nice buffet breakfast. Better value than Days Inn especially over the bank holiday weekend.

Cons:

Room was too warm for us

Poor value
Pros:

Tiniest double room and bathroom we’ve stayed in and cost us as much as London hotels for such a small room. Catalogue of errors at bar and restaurant. Might be worth staying here if you’re part of a wedding party. Maybe we were just unlucky
