DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE
I had to leave in the middle of the night since there's no way I could sleep there for a night.
1. Holes all over the room, and on one of the walls of the elevator.
2. The furniture was worn, chipped and dirty.
3. Coffee maker was moldy inside.
4. Smells like cigarettes and weed.
5. Both the TV and the fridge was unplugged.
5. Most important of all, FOUND BUGS IN THE BED
Wanted to ask for a different room but there was nobody at the front desk so I bolted and stayed somewhere else.
Tried to ask for a refund through hotels.com as well but wasn't granted. This is an absolutely abysmal hotel.
Did not actually stay there. Got called away. However, I would certainly recommend something be done about the plethora of homeless people in front of the hotel. That is certainly not a good way to induce people to come in.
This property is mainly used for longer term living. Good location but would not recommend it.
Pros
Staff nice
Attempted to keep clean
Hot water
Decent coffee (restricted to one free cup a day)
Cons
Property appears to be a halfway house -low income accommodation- some guests junkies type characters , should either be halfway housing or a hotel but both as even single guys would not like staying there, let alone couples or even worse family’s
- smells of weed/ urine on the stairs
- although they attempted to clean the rooms - they weren’t filthy as such but still stuff likes some crumbs behind the bees and one the matresss
- place tainted my holiday, my fault didn’t read the reviews
The woman who helped us was very kind and pleasant but the hotel is pretty nasty. The hallways stink of cigarettes and alcohol. Broken appliances in the parking lot. Weird stains on the bedding. I think it’s some kind of halfway house or something? People live there full time. It doesn’t seem like the kind of place that should be open to the public. We stayed for a couple of hours and had to walk out. Apologies to the people who live there but I didn’t even want to sit on the bed.
Rooms need work.ac insalltion very bad.
Disgusting
FILTHY, UNSAFE CONDITIONS. HOMELESS PEOPLE SLEEPING IN AND AROUND HOTEL.
It was ok for one night stay
Although the location was extremely convenient to the marina, this hotel is in the heart of the downtown district which means the area has frequent homeless and drug users. The parking is within a fenced compound, yet access appears to be open to the street. I am unaware of the security measures in place for this. The room itself was fine, and what one would expect for the price. As long as your expectations are not high, this hotel is what it is advertised for. Would I stay here again? Not likely, but I was not sorry that I did. We arrived late in the evening and we were gone early, so this hotel worked for us.
Very old property, dirty hallways, poor security, good location next to shopping and pier
This is an older building in the traditional downtown portion of Campbell River. Thus the pricing was lower than other hotels in the neighbourhood, and was attractive to our family budget.
What I didn't know, but discovered upon our arrival, is that this facility, in addition to providing transient and tourist lodging, is part of the communities on-going accommodation for the economically challenged people of CR.
The neighbour is dead after 7:30 pm; at least two street missions (fixed in place and mobile) serve those who congregate on the sideway outside the hotel; signage in multiple places caution us not to leave valuables in our cars.
Homelessness and economic hardships are at epidemic portions across Canada and all citizens need to be willing to address those needs urgently. Thus, I commend the staff and owners of the hotel for contributing to the shelthering of those of CR in need.
The "Inn" is next door to a soup kitchen, is home to drug addicts, has water damage on the ceiling in multiple areas, and reeks of all kinds of smoke. Got there late at night and the staff had to come unlock the door to let us in due to the large presence of homeless people in the area. Only good thing about our stay was the water pressure in the shower.
I saw a good deal and went for it but didn’t stay. Followed sat nav and passed lots of down & outs/junkies. Didn’t even want to leave my rental car in the car park as it felt unsafe. I said to very nice receptionist that I couldn’t stay as didn’t feel comfortable. She said it’s downtown and a lot of workers stay there. I left & camped out of town feeling much more relaxed. I don’t think it’s a bad place but not my kind of place..
Wouldn't stay again. Scetchy area.
Should not be advertised as a hotel
The staff were great. Meeting all our needs. Friendly guests.
Don't take your girlfriend there, lol. It's homeless row right there. There's a community kitchen attached next door and understandably it's homeless person hangout area. I'm kind of used to it where I live but didn't expect it on vacation. Never felt unsafe or anything and the actual room was fine but certainly wouldn't stay there with a travel partner of any ilk.
i already wrote a review, not sure why i'm being asked to do it again. Fine place for a single guy but wouldn't stay there if travelling with anyone.
Many homeless people nearby. Sign saying no smoking marijuana in the entrance. Hotel itself in great location in city but poor condition. Dried blood on sheets which had been cleaned, noone could find tv remote, etc. Please no longer recommend this hotel.
