Incredible place to stay in San Pedro! A peaceful oasis that made our vacation that much more enjoyable. Loved having the little kitchenette to make some of our own meals and the balcony for many a good post scuba nap in the afternoon. The grounds were beautifully kept and loved that we were right next to the ocean; enjoyed good sunsets and sunrises right on the pier. There is some construction happening nearby, but it didn’t particularly affect our experience. 10/10 would recommend and stay again.
We had a great stay here! The grounds were gorgeous and super well maintained. Our particular room was spacious, clean, and had the cutest outdoor couch. Perfect location for us: 5-10 mins to downtown restaurants and bars, but still peaceful and quiet.
There’s a supermarket, coffee, and good food spots all within walking distance, plus the water taxi is just a short walk away which is super convenient if you plan on visiting the mainland/other islands.
Having Belize Diving Adventures right on the hotel dock was a huge plus, the excursions were amazing and so easy to access. Overall, such a relaxing and well-located spot!
Wifi was not the best, but you're in Belize, go outside don't doom scroll! lol.
Nice location close to marine terminal and dive shops. Golf cart or 10-15 minute walk downtown. 2nd floor balcony was very nice
A little noisy with nearby construction and fridge.
Beautiful property in a great location! I had a wonderful oceanfront view which was exactly what I was looking for. The grounds were well maintained and very safe. I would definitely stay there again!
The location was perfect for us. Close enough to walk to shopping, dinning and walk on the beach.
The bed was not very comfortable.
A stone throw away from the water edge, this place is well located for a stroll along the beach, on one side, and the busy road with shops, supermarkets, the airportand the water taxi terminal. We did a week of diving using the 5 star PADI centre, at the end of the Pier, 50 m away. The dive in - dive out is equivalent to the ski in - ski out concept.
You need to understand there is nothing about yachts or yachting, nor this is a hotel. Rather, a condominium in wish owners have a unit to rent out, thus the contents, arrangement and quality of what's on offer varies from unit to unit.
A nice touch was a jar of coffee that served us quite nicely for our stay.
Three things.
One, there's a lot of construction going on, with two several storey high building being erected just across the street from the hotel. The steel structure being put together means they only use powered tools such as hammer wrenches, drills and angle grinders. They are loud and they are 12 hours a day. You don't hear them much inside the room, but it does ruin your lazy day by the pool or on the balcony. I think this can be a deal breaker for some and prospective clients need to be made aware at the time of booking.
Two, there's no beach, but there is a lot of seasonal seaweed and it smells like only a dead fish can. When there is no breeze, it it is quite pungent. This affects the entire east side, but the management of the problem leaves a lot to be desired, as there's mountains of it, and just taking it out of the water and moving it 3 m on land doesn't help much. Ah, and when it rains over it...
Three, the cooking utensils, pots and pans have seen better days, a long while ago. Virtually all handles are very loose and rusty (can't be tightened anymore) so you need to be very careful not to drop boiling oil on your hands and feet. Wouldn't cost too much to replace!
Isla Bonita Yacht Club was a really good choice for us (family of six in three units). The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Ditto the pool - clean and refreshing. It was only a 10 - 15 minute pleasant walk along the foreshore to downtown San Pedro. The thing to keep in mind however, is that each suite is privately owned and the owner may or may not choose to put it in the rental pool. This means that there is no consistency among the suites as there would be in a privately owned hotel. Some suites are really well maintained and updated while others are not.
Our suite, "1 B", unfortunately, was in the was not well maintained category. The pictures on Booking.com show it as it is: kitchen counter space is non existent, maybe 7" either side of the sink. The kitchen sink looks like original equipment and is now rusty and fairly gross. The living room couches are beat, ie, old and saggy. The bed is uncomfortable, the mattress having some kind of wire mesh embedded that you feel in your hip bones. The bed is 56" wide, not a queen for sure. Bathroom, dated but ok. Which leaves the deck. Spectacular view, to be sure. We did enjoy sitting there (too much...) taking in the ocean view. Some units have beautiful hardwood tables and comfortable chairs. Ours, plastic. Ok, but really, for the money, the suite needs a renovation.
Also, hate to report, there's a bar at the ferry terminal about 100 meters away, that produces an audible thump, thump, thump, thump from the crappy bar music, pretty much all day and evening.
All the negatives aside, the wonderful view from the deck, the proximity to the water and lovely grounds somehow made up for the suites shortcomings. The other two suites that we rented were in really great condition - recently renovated and well maintained. We did enjoy our stay at Isla Bonita Yacht Club.
Everything. Grounds were beautiful. Quiet little community, but close to everything.
Nothing
We traveled with 2 couples—each with our own unit. Both units had well stocked kitchens for preparing our own meals/snacks when we wanted to. The units and grounds are kept immaculate by the staff. The staff are absolutely wonderful—attentive to detail and always happy to assist. The location is PERFECT for diving (dive shop on pier of resort is FABULOUS), relaxing by the pool, dining out if you wanted to, shops and fruit stands nearby for groceries or just local shopping. Perfect getaway for 2 couples! We hope to visit again in the near future!
Unfortunately it is sargassum (seaweed) season , so you wouldn’t want to walk into the water from the beach, but you could get around this by going to the end of the pier to swim. There was also still lots of places to walk along the water just off the
shoreline, so we could always get a good walk. But if you are looking for endless beaches to play on, this is NOT the location to go—most places along the shore are more rocky than sandy.
Great location. Close to town while still being quiet.
The property was very beautiful and was right on the water. The location was in the middle of the downtown area, a short walk to the ferry and close to lots of restaurants and supermarkets. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
There was an algae bloom on the waterfront during my stay and the smell was very unpleasant.
Pool, seaside, balcony, great snorkel/dive company on dock, quiet location. Friendly staff.
Squeaky bed!
The staff was a 10
The grounds & pool setting were very pleasant
Our experience at the resort was very positive. However, the interior of our room could use some attention. We were in room 4b & since the units are privately owned, this is on the owners.
Furniture is very dated, with cushions being funky.
The screen in the bedroom is broken so we could get fresh air in the evening because of mosquitoes.
The window treatments are very old.
The bathroom is very dated.
There is not enough countertop space & selves.
Location and staff.
internet was very bad
Very nice grounds with a pool. Very friendly guests
Weather was cold
Loved the landscaping.
Could hear the guests above me very clearly. Wasn’t a big deal for me but might be for others.
