I stayed here for 4 nights and was surprised when housekeeping never entered my room a single time to even empty my over-flowing trash cans. I know this is a budget hotel but please! I’m never a picky customer but this oversight was something so basic!
We booked a room here because it is so close to the KCI and the rates were so reasonable. The two room suite was very clean and was fine for our one day stay. The bed was comfy and we had lots of space to relax in front room with the sofa n chair. Well worth the money.
Price is right and location convenient. Clean enough, but receptionist forgot to record my wakeup call request. I was concerned because my room phone didn't function to contact the front desk, and he assured me that the desk would be able to send me the wakeup call. Kind of important! Very nice shuttle driver helped out.
This place is run down and filthy. There were cockroaches and egg sacks in the bathroom. inch long centipedes on the floor. Avoid this property like the plague. The room smelled to high heaven. It is in disrepair
Booked a night along with my sister and her husband. My husband and I go to our room, and discover a toilet absolutely FILLED with poop!!! My sisters room also had a dirty bathroom with hair and tampon tube on floor. Guy behind the desk was nice and polite, but we couldn't get refunded so we both got different room. New room was cleaner, but could tell some things weren't cleaned(floor not vaccumed, soap dish not cleaned) so it just felt gross staying there after all we saw. My sister reported that their new room didn't have a lock. Better to sleep in your vehicle than this place
We arrived late around midnight for a 2 night stay. When we opened the door to our room the damp mildew smell was very strong but we were exhausted and decided to tough it out. Went into the bathroom and there were several dead bugs on the floor. At least ten. My husband disposed of them. In the morning, we told the desk and asked that our room be thoroughly cleaned. When we got back, the room did not appear to have been cleaned as the bed was not made. Asked at the desk and he told me the work sheet said that housekeeping had vacuumed. Never once did he apologize for the bugs or the trouble. Never again.
Mortifying lack of basic maintenance.
If that sentence is the only part of this review that you read, that'll be enough, but if you want details, keep reading. I gave this hotel a 1 star rating because the site doesn't allow the option of zero star ratings.
If the shuttle driver who picked us up at the airport wasn't enough of a sign that the hotel experience was going to be a terrible one, the hotel itself solidified it's own horribleness.
First things first though. The party I was with had just landed at the Kansas city airport after a 4 hour flight from Cancun, Mexico. The shuttle driver, who stank like a massive ashtray, arrived promptly enough but then opened the back doors of the van, stepped back with his hands on his hips and stared at us and our luggage. It became clear after awhile that he wasn't going to help, so it was up to us to load our own luggage into the back of the van. He then drove us to the hotel without putting on his own seatbelt which forced us to listen to the van beep very loudly for the whole duration of the drive, which of course the driver completely ignored and refused to comply with.
The hotel parking lot had massive potholes, and I do mean massive. I'm talking about randomly shaped canyons in the asphault ranging from 6 square feet to over 30 square feet.
During the excessively lengthy check-in (roughly 30 minutes) I was able to notice the shocking lack of maintenance that existed in just the lobby alone. The main light fixture hanging from the lobby ceiling had roughly 20 lightbulbs in it and 4 or 5 of them needed to be changed because they kept flickering on and off. There were shelves holding decorative trinkets, slightly below eye level, that had such a heavy coating of dust that you could see where people had plowed whole valleys into it with their fingertips. Also in the lobby was the only vending machine in the entire building, and it was out of order. The last, and most major thing I noticed in the lobby was the framed safety and health inspection certification, which expired 4 months prior.
When we finally stepped out of the elevator onto the floor where our rooms were located, there was caution tape strewn about on the floor and stretched out along the length of the base of one wall. Also, the previously mentioned lightbulb issue continued in earnest. There were probably 20 doors on each side of the full length of the hallway and each one had a light fixture. Roughly a third of them kept flickering on and off randomly, creating a bit of a haunted house vibe.
Once we got into our rooms, the experience didn't improve. In my wife's and my room, there were several lamps that would not turn on. There were residue trails from some previous overflowing running down the front of our toilet. In another room within our group the TV didn't work. And in even another room from our group there were no bathroom hygiene essentials so they were unable to take a shower.
Avoid this hotel.
Disgusting.
Highlights from our stay:
1. Shuttle picked us up at the airport and driver let us load our own bags; Proceeded to drive without seatbelt and disregarded the seatbelt bell 4 times while we told us about his crappy boss and lack of dental plan
2. Building is disgusting - outdated and dirty
3. Room was large, but filthy and disheveled- hair in tub and no soap in bathroom
4. Saran Wrap stuffed in peephole?
5. TV is one of our rooms was broken
I booked this hotel from traveluro. On the website they are showing that they have a pool, a hot tub and a fitness room. They have NONE of these accommodations. When we got there, there is a sign up that shows POOL PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Also, the hot tub is closed and the room with the fitness equipment is torn down. Walking into the room we reserved had stains on the comforter and pubic hair stuck to the comforter. I have asked for a refund, as we did not stay and CANNOT get any answers back.
This is probably one of the worst places I’ve stayed. The pictures look great online, but not the same when you check in. Was told by police this is not the best area to stay due to crime. The parking lot had a couple abandoned cars and I was concerned that my vehicle was going to be broke in overnight. Breakfast was not I expect from a Choice Hotel. On the positive side the room was clean.
Great service and clean rooms. Danny was very helpful at the front desk and also assisted with shuttle to the airport. Shuttle was timely. Breakfast was available in the lobby prior to my early morning departure. This will be our go to for air travel stays in the future.
Worst hotel experience in 70 years of life. Dirty bathroom. Dingy towels. No toilet paper. Toilet not flushing, when I reported it I was told someone could look at it the next day. Upon in my insistence that we needed a working toilet overnight, I was given a plunger so I could do it myself.
Terrible experience. First the key he gave us didn't open the door, then when we got in the room it was used/dirty. There were 2 staff members at the front desk but only one was working which meant we had to wait even longer to get it resolved. Once we brought it to his attention, the 2nd staff member had to go verify before we would be booked in another room! It was very late at night as it was and we had a 5:30am flight, that was not at all what we needed to be wasting time on. We will not stay here again. To sum up: dirty/used rooms assigned to guests and staff were uninterested in helping guests. The worst choice hotel we've stayed at.
Stayed here to cash in points and be close to the airport for an early morning flight. It was very convenient for that. Room was clean except for the bathroom. The tub/tile needs a good scrubbing and the toilet could have been cleaned better. We also had to ask for toilet paper. We left too early for breakfast (a to-go bag would have been nice). There are restaurants down the road a few miles. Just be aware that they charge a deposit fee which I've never encountered before.
Very conveniently located to airport which was handy for a very early morning flight. Room was large worth separate living area. Bed was very comfy. Free parking was a definite draw. Pricing was very reasonable. Keeping on list of places to stay when flying out of MCI.
Needs some upgrades. Tub was stained. Toilet paper roll was not full & no extras in the room. Had to go to front desk to ask for one. Room was fairly clean. Didn’t try breakfast because other family members staying said it was a joke. Probably won’t stay here again.
Quiet and clean. Called for shuttle from airport. Came was working both shuttle and front desk. I had difficulty hearing from flying all day but we figured it out. Pool permanently closed which is a running joke theme for me! Tub could be recaulked. Breakfast was so so no fruit and mostly to go. Room was a SUITE! TV could turn for bedroom or living. Kitchenette. Large bathroom. Non smoking and no hint of pets. Carpet clean. Drive from airport, nice sunset! Had Bible and means a lot as grandparents were Gideons. Pleasant stay for night.
I stayed here because it was cheap and could handle it being a dump that was falling apart because of the price.
I accidentally booked the room one day before my intended stay so the hotel gave my room to another customer when I didn't show up.
So the next day when I show up to get my room they tell me there is nothing they can do about it and then offered to rent me a room at 30 dollars over what the cooperate website had listed for that night. The clerk says we could have rented it so we have to charge you. I asked was the hotel full last night? His response was yes every room was full last night......... so if every room was full they resold my room. The check-in time on the receipt shows a 230 am check-in so they closed out my room to fill it with another guest is my guess otherwise check out time is 11 am the room was mine until then use or don't,
18 stays in the past 12 months but no more, the pool, has been closed for three years yet it is still listed on the website. breakfast is honey buns and yesterday's coffee is reheated day after day. They also have whole families from India or wherever moving van loads of stuff into the hotel and covering the smoke alarms and sprinklers so they don't set off the alarm by cooking curry in the rooms?
I have alerted the fire marshall and choice hotels
it's a cheap place to stay if that's what you're looking but it smells like curry and the hallway lights blink all night long.... the showers don't drain and the roof has been covered with a blue tarp for months. you get what you pay for. I might have sour grapes but it doesn't change the fact it's a dump see attached photos
Fire the receptionist who was on duty at the front desk on May 8, 2022. He was rude and did not help me us at all, even though I asked him for his help. My membership level is gold which means I have stayed at many Choice hotels in the past. This was undoubtedly one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any hotel. That was entirely because of the receptionist at the front desk.
Worst experience at a hotel EVER!!! I usually stay at Hilton brand hotels (Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, Fairfield Inn) but we wanted to stay at same hotel as our friends. Upon arrival late Friday night there the parking lot was nearly full and no signage to mark construction in their lot that led us to a dead end and required us to turn around. There was not enough handicapped parking (two spots blocked off due to construction). The desk clerk Danny was extremely rude and condescending when I asked about if there was a closer place to park due to my recent ankle surgery and handicapped status. He offered me to park closer and get towed!!! The room was a nice size but not clean at all (toothpaste in sink, toilet not clean, pubic hairs in tub, dust on and u see microwave and in tables). After cleaning and sanitizing room ourselves with wipes we brought, we went to bed exhausted. The beds were comfortable. The TV remote didn’t work the next night and when we tried to contact the front desk staff but they were away on a shuttle run. When he got back, Danny came down to our room and would not wear a mask. He also could not get the TV to turn on without unplugging snd plugging back in TV to reset then he used a master remote to set up Chromecast. He said he had never seen that before. The hotel was full so there was no other remote we could switch out to. We finally got a movie started and then it went off and reset again several times. Danny came down again then called maintenance who arrived nearly 2 hours later and woke me up to fix the TV. The next morning it happened again and we had a very nice woman come down to room and try to help. I had been told when I booked room that there was fruit and pastries for the grab and go breakfast, but neither morning was there any. When I asked the front desk clerk about it he said they had “run out.” I don’t understand why they could not have bought some in from a local grocery store. Once I started having problems I had asked to talk to the manager about a price adjustment on the rooms due to all these problems (I thought comping one night was fair as did the nice female clerk) and I was told that he would call me. I have been home 4 days now and still no call. I have called daily and left messages. Now today I see 3 charges on my bill for my stay. I called again today and spoke with a front desk clerk named Andy. When I explained that I have been awaiting a call from the manager and that I have three charges on my bill he said ....and I kid you not....”I don’t give a damn about you” and hung up!!! Terrible experience. The culture at this hotel is not one of customer service. I highly recommend staying away from this hotel unless you are willing to deal with all these problems!!!
