Une belle réserve riche en espèces différentes dans laquelle il est facile de s’orienter grâce à un plan et une signalétique particulièrement bien faits.
On a été accueilli par une personne ne parlant pas un mot d’anglais : ici l’anglais s’entend en dollars. Hôtellerie très moyenne, couchage idem (oreillers en béton), terrasse minuscule servant de passage entre les cabanas…
Restauration simplement hors de prix : des céréales + 1 thé et 1 café = quasiment 15 dollars! Des plats ordinaires, de 21 à 28 dollars… vraiment excessif au regard des prestations !
It is a wonderful nature reserve and there were many birds to see. However, the trails are very long and steep and were more than we were expecting. Also, we expected guides to be available, and this was not offered.
The difficulty and distance required to see most of the trails and there was no services to help get to them.
This hotel is a gem and we wish we could have stayed longer but just came for the night to be close to hike Chirripo Mountain before flying back home the next day. The rooms were spacious, bed comfortable and everything was very clean. We didn't get to explore the trails and grounds but they seemed well mapped out! The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful!

El hotel está ubicado en una reserva preciosa con cataratas y senderos. Es un lugar perfecto para hacer senderismo. Hay mucha vegetación, flores y pájaros.
El hotel se ofrecía como de un nivel más alto. En realidad, es solo el restaurante y las cabinas para dormir. Las cabinas son pequeñas y algo incomodas. No tienen television ni una refrigeradora pequeña como en otros lugares. Considero que el precio por noche es muy alto para lo que uno recibe. De la misma manera, el restaurante no ofrece muchas opciones y los precios son excesivamente caros. No hay una relación precio-calidad. Es mejor comer fuera del hotel en San Gerardo o en Cannan. Al estar ahi, me di cuenta de que uno puede visitar la reserva por 10 dólares por persona sin necesidad de hospedarse ahi. Es lo que pienso hacer a futuro.
Beautiful, friendly staff
On it’s own forest reserve the property is quite spectacular. The rooms were very comfortable with some awesome outdoor spaces. This is a birders destination for sure.
The only issue we had was a bit of a communication breakdown. When reserving the manager indicated the rooms they had available would only accommodate two so we would need two rooms. We were three me, my wife and daughter. Each of the two rooms we booked had a double (queen?) and a twin so we didn’t need two rooms.
We came to Talamanca Nature reserve for birds, and there were an incredible number of bird varieties. There are beautiful gardens, rivers, many hikes, a non typical restaurant with a talented chef, super friendly staff, and very comfortable cabins. We will definitely return, there’s is a lot to explore.

Amazing Place!!!
It’s a unique place and an immersive experience that we’ll never forget. The staff are all exceptionally knowledgeable about the wildlife and they are so warm and kind. We loved our time there and we would recommend it to anyone with an interest in birds, hiking or just spending time in nature. The hikes in the grounds were fantastic, we didn’t even need to leave the grounds.
A bigger blanket would have been helpful as the nights can get chilly.
