This property has great potential but is sadly in need of major updates! Everything looks tired. You get what you pay for and sadly they seem to be struggling to stay in business. There was a yoga class that used the grounds when we were there so it seems they are trying to get extra revenue in. I picked this place because of the great reviews & for a bit of relaxation, but it was a big letdown. Although they were not busy, there was no offer for a room upgrade.
Tres beau endroit au calm, beau paysage, excellent service.
Merci!
Had a wonderful stay. Great place to kick back and relax after 2 weeks catching trains and buses all over southern Spain. This place is out in the country so if you are coming by bus call ahead so Francesca can arrange to have a taxi pick you up. If you want to go into town from the hacienda you will need to take a taxi. There is a wonderful country road that winds through the hillside that makes for a great walk. We saw early morning joggers, walkers and bicyclists out on this road. Breakfast was lovely out on the glass patio and dinner was awesome. We had the sea bass and steak. We did not go into town as we were there for just 2 nights and we wanted to slow down. There are comfortable sitting areas for conversation and reading. Thank you Francesca and staff for your hospitality.
We stayed here 2 nights, and I wish it was a week! The room was so comfortable, the bed superb, and we loved the staff! It was quiet while we were here, so we enjoyed the pool to ourselves. I recommend you book room #2, the nicest room in the hacienda...and worth it. This hacienda has been in the same family for hundreds of years, and to hear the history is fascinating! We did not eat breakfast while we were here, because we are not breakfast eaters, so cannot comment.
Unieke hacienda. Uitstekende service. Heerlijk ontbijten in de tuin. Prima lokatie voor een meerdaags verblijf en bezoek aan steden, dorpen en schitterende natuur.
The hotel was well-maintained in a traditional style, and very clean. The bathroom fittings and toiletries were of high quality. The very comfortable memory foam mattress and pillows gave us a good night’s sleep. Breakfast consisted of a wide variety of dishes - cake, croissants, pâtés, omelette, yoghurt, fruit - all brought to your table. Good, quiet location overlooking farmland, yet 10 min drive to Arcos de la Frontera. Wish we could stay longer. Will have to come back.
It was a lovely visit....fabulous hosts and a part of living history that we truly enjoyed. Anyone wanting a step back in time must stay here!
Beautiful place to stay. Only drawback was no elevator to get luggage to second floor.
What a gorgeous place to stay! And what a welcoming and informative host. Our rooms were lovely and the outdoor spaces at this hacienda are inviting and beautiful. Our only regret is that we wished that we had had more time to spend here.
Very good hotel & location, however, the quality of food and the service/knowledge of drinks service left a lot to be desired (eg staff did not know how to open sparking wine bottle - we had to do it, Fino sherry served warm).
The menu was very limited and overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area. Strangely, you had to choose what you required a couple of hours before your reserved seating time which diminished the pleasure of the dining experience.
Such a shame when the hotel is beautiful and full of character, with a lovely pool area, very peaceful setting and beautiful outlook on the lake at Arcos de la Frontera.
Room was charming. Owner and staff were very nice. My only complaint was the dinner. My friend ordered ribs and there was about 1 ounce of meat on the plate. Not good value,
If you travel by car or motorbike, this is the place to go when visiting Arcos de la Fra. The hacienda is from 1485 and looks like a well mainained musem.
Located a few kilometers outside of Arcos, here you can relax in the nice garden, enjoying the pool and the view at the landscape.
A very individual and comfortable place for people, who are looking for something special!
Out of season staff but they looked after us well . It was s but chilly as built to cope with hot summers but location peaceful and great breakfast
The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are wonderful. Service was outstanding
The Hacienda is a great hotel to just chill out. Quiet, old world elegance, most friendly and attentive staff. The hotel has retained many original features.
We stayed for 4 nights in a superior room, with a large sunny all day terrace, and very large comfortable bed. Breakfast and menu of the day dinners were adequate, al la carte menu for dinner also available. The hotel has great views and positioned well for exploring the area. Loved the sound of all kinds of birds visiting the garden.
Small niggles; there is large wardrobe in the room, but very limited shelf and drawer space. We were at the hotel during April which was very warm weather; we would have appreciated a small fridge in the room.
Restful country retreat. A good place to relax. Authentic old property, tastefully appointed.
Hotel is on a beatifully renovated old Spanish style building. If you have a car, it is near enough to Arcos. Restaurant is very nice for breakfast, but for dinner, management requires to buy full menus, which makes the experience somehow stiff and expensive.
