Breakfast was excellent, staff were very attentive and friendly, great choice of good quality food and drinks, lovely breakfast room.
We would have liked to dine at the Alarz restaurant ,we tried booking by phone but received a message in Spanish that we did not understand, tried to book at reception and the only time available was 20.45 which was much too late.We passed by the restaurant later, around 20.30 and the restaurant was practically empty so there is an issue with bookings and we were most disappointed especially when we found that the restaurant was so empty!!!
Pulizia, colazione e accoglienza
Camilla, one of the front desk hostesses deserves a raise and an award for excellence. She connected us with Lanzarote's greatest artist/architect, Cesar Manrique: his work visible and visitable from the Gran Hotel!..Museo Contemporaneo and his Fondacion and house, a taxi ride away.
The Gran Hotel is elegance and luxury supreme. Our deluxe seaview suite was heaven, the buffet breakfast superb (maitre d' Gilberto is a treat), the ground floor Alarz's original cooking delicious, and the stress massages my wife and I had, side by side, were purr-fect.
A couple of suggested boat excursions were inappropriate due to the predicted weather on 26/2/26. One was cancelled, but the Dolphin adventure was a mistake that should have been avoided. No dolphins, and a very cold and windy, wet, bumpy, expensive ride. Might have been fine on a sunny day.
The top floor restaurant, Blue, played very loud music...we couldn't have stayed.
This was not the beach holiday sold to us by Voyage Prive but a city break as advertised by Jet 2. It is an adequate 3 star airport hotel.
The beach is closed for swimming and Jet 2 are informing clients and offering alternatives. Voyage Prive are not and on check in the staff did not inform us of the contaminated beach. A local tourist information office gave us the information.
At check in the staff assured us the allocated room was a twin room . It wasn't and when we phoned to tell them we're offered a camp bed. My sister and I declined and were moved to a twin room.
There are no grounds and no balconies and the roof top restaurant is not on a roof top offering an outdoor space to relax in. It is a 17th floor smallish area not a rooftop area .
The staff are unhelpful and unsmiling. The lack of information about the the beach being closed for months for swimming is obviously commercial and sums up the ethos of this hotel and Voyage Prive who were aware of this issue for weeks. My next holiday will be with Jet 2 whose marketing appears more realistic and having a rep who visits venues to solve problems is a must in situations like this.
Um hotel maravilhoso e muito bem localizado. Café da manhã ótimo e buffet de jantar excelente. Super recomendo as suites especiais do 16° andar.
The pool was indoors. I didn’t like that. The roof top was also enclosed. Finally the WiFi wasn’t consistent.
The staff were mostly brilliant. Especially the staff at reception and the chefs.
Most things sadly, the rooms smelled of bleach or drains. The lifts are dreadfully slow. You can hear everything between rooms. And there is no outdoor pool, it’s inside. The beach was closed as well for the last two weeks. Would not recommend other than for the staff who were lovely and helpful.
Erinomainen sijainti, palvelut ensiluokkaisia, todella ystävällinen henkilökunta.
Siivous jätti vähän toivomisen varaa ja hotellin hissit olivat osin pois käytöstä aiheuttaen lähinnä odottelua. Hotellin etukäteen lähettämä linkki ei toiminut.
Breakfast was a highlight
Great view of the sea, spacious room, tea and coffee facilities (not always the case outside UK), FABULOUS breakfast, and wonderful friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, English-speaking staff. I was able to book a lovely massage at the spa at very short notice. The pool was gorgeous with plenty of seating, and the terrace overlooking the beach was great too. Sunset from the rooftop bar was beautiful, and there was a nice atmosphere early evening as people gathered to watch. I enjoyed having a chocolate to look forward to every evening. 😊
We loved the hotel, so this list feels a bit churlish. Anyway… some small things: I guess a balcony would have been the icing on the cake. But the terrace made a lovely place for morning coffee instead. There wasn’t quite enough milk in the room for more than 1 cup of tea a day. The cracked glass in the windows around the pool and terrace let the wind in, and slightly marred the luxurious feel. I think repairs are underway for the main season though. And lastly, whilst the food in the rooftop bar was delicious, it was a bit ‘British’ and mostly meat. We’d have liked more of a Spanish feel, and a variety of fish (salmon and seabass are nice, but you can get them at home…)
