Excellent location and historic building
Very cool hotel! Lobby sets the tone. Rooms are clean and nicely done. Front desk team were great! Only complaint is I wish they had a coffee service in lobby without going to restaurant. One tip is maps drops you off on the wrong side of hotel so it is a little loop to get back to valet drop However the location to Arch is perfect and short walk to Busch Stadium
Beautiful lobby and equally beautiful rooms. Clean and modern looking. Parking was a bit tricky since it’s in the city, but it was overall a very comfortable stay!
La localización y el “valor histórico” del hotel
Las instalaciones requieren mayor mantenimiento
El destino se sirve a la carta y atiende muy poca gente para la cantidad de huéspedes
We chose this hotel based on it's location to The Arch and the baseball field. We did book the night before, and when we got into STL early check-in and room choice was offered on the app. We chose an upgraded room in the hopes we would have a view of The Arch at night. We were notified that our room was ready, so we checked in. At check in we were told that our room that we chose was not ready and hadn't been cleaned yet. We were told we needed to pick a different room. Once in our room we noted it was very warm (78 degrees), so we adjusted the air. After we visited The Arch and returned to the room it was still very warm. The hotel sent an engineer up to look at the air conditioning, and hour later it still was not cooler (still 78). We were offered a room change, and that room was much cooler. The hotel was very nice, and clean. The staff were also very kind and helpful!
There were some minor things coupled with the other hiccups that made our stay less enjoyable.
- One elevator was not working.
- Restaurant was closed for a private event without warning/notification (we were offered a menu, but asked to sit in the lobby and read the menu as we could not even be in the restaurant/bat at all.)
- Ice machine was not working
**NOT on the hotel- but there was a lot of construction on the street and made parking in the parking ramp a little challenging, it took about 20 minutes with traffic to get out of the ramp and back in-front of the hotel to pick up our bags.**
While the accommodations at the Pennywell could use a little TLC, the customer service is what will keep me coming back every time I'm in St. Louis.
From Stephanie behind the bar crafting customized Old Fashioneds, to Charlie and the entire valet team making every arrival and departure effortless, the people here truly made the difference. Their professionalism, hospitality, and genuine care turned a good stay into a memorable one.
If I were rating the team alone, they'd earn 5 stars without hesitation.
Thank you all for taking such great care of me during my stay. You are a shining example of what great customer service looks like.
People are great. Location is excellent - walked to baseball stadium, Archway, museusms. But you hear every noise next door and on the street, can see light all the way around the door to the room, never brought new towels or emptied the trash. But it was clean and I cannot say I would never recommend this place - just know what you are getting.
This hotel is located perfectly in the downtown area in walking distance of the Arch, Busch Stadium, restaurants and convenient stores. If you take the train its less than 10 minutes away by car. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Great location and staff.
No bathtub.
The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was clean and well kept. Markiki was very helpful and attentive to all guests and made sure to assist with luggage and questions. It was a great experience.
When we got here our room that we had paid for wasn’t available, but the hotel staff more than made up for our frustration. Robert was so kind to get us another room and Markiki was super warm and friendly to help with any questions we had. It made up for the hotel.
Hotel is in a great location, nice & very clean. Staff is fantastic. Markiki makes the valet service stand out above 99% of places I stay for work, guy is fantastic.
Convenient to ballpark and arch
The room wasn’t ready when we got there and we had to wait for an hour and a half to get the room. They said check in was at 4pm and we got in the room at 5:45 pm. We booked it for a ballgame that started at 6:10 pm. Needless to say we were late for the start of the game. The parking garage was across the street and not connected to the property.
