I booked and paid for this hotel and then took a 30 minute Uber to the hotel after my flight was cancelled. The reception said the hotel was overbooked, was rude and tried to claim that it was Booking's fault. They don't reply to any of my requests for a refund and still have not refunded me. There were others in the reception in the same situation.

The space in the room was good. The location was close to public transportation. Staff was nice and helpful.

Hotel is new and clean, good staff and facilities are in good shape. What I expect from a Hampton.
Location is kind of weak. Grocery nearby and great diner up the road. But it’s a good 15-20 min to the Path station of foot. If you’re going to be going to Manhattan a lot, you might want something closer to transit.

I am very disappointed with my experience at Hampton Inn & Suites Newark-Harrison-Riverwalk.
I specifically booked and paid for a 2 Queen Bed Studio Suite with Water View because I was traveling with my family, including my autistic son, and needed the additional space, suite layout, water view, and queen-size beds advertised in the reservation.
Upon arrival, I was assigned a much smaller room with two double beds that did not match the room description I had booked and paid for. At check-in, I specifically asked whether the room assigned to me was the water-view room included in my reservation and was told that it was. However, when I entered the room, I immediately realized that it was not the suite I had reserved.
I returned to the front desk to discuss the issue and was informed that a room matching my reservation would become available the following day. I was told that a note had been added to my file for a room change. However, later that evening, when I checked with the night staff to confirm the arrangement, I was informed that no room change would be possible. The following day, management confirmed that the suite described in my reservation would not be available during my stay.
This was extremely frustrating because I specifically chose this hotel based on the room advertised and even cancelled another Hampton Inn reservation in Staten Island to stay here because it was closer to the stadium and offered a larger suite better suited to my family's needs.
To make matters worse, at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, after a long and exhausting day attending a soccer match, we were abruptly awakened by a phone call from the front desk regarding a reported noise complaint. Being awakened in this manner caused panic and stress for my family, especially for my autistic son, who was startled and distressed by the call.
Upon arriving at the property our room was not ready but was shortly thereafter. The staff waived our parking fee for the wait. Very professional front desk staff, bar tender and housekeeping.
