One of the best short breaks I've had in a long time. Warm welcome, fantastic room with stunning view, delicious food bothe in the bar and restaurant. Engaged and friendly staff. Great pool and games room. Certainly will be back.
Had a fabulous stay at the Loch Rannoch Hotel. After a speedy and efficient check in ,with dinner organised and breakfast booked , we headed to our lovely big room.
Dinner was delicious- duck with fondant potato , chicory and red wine jus, nearly licked the plate.
We needed some help with bedding and Ann was super helpful, making us feel not a bother and then fetching us extra milk.
The next day we planned a cycle around the loch ,but had flat tyres and needed help. Ann summoned Sonny for us , who helped sort us out , and wouldn’t take any payment .
We will definitely be back for a longer stay
Hotel location was beautiful and in the main, the hotel is as well. The downside was the food in the bar area was below par and could be a lot better in such a grand hotel. We booked the Winter deal but never received the additional welcome gifts advertised. Games room is great with a brilliant variety of games including a 12ft snooker table. Nice and cosy bar areas but could be better served with some live music /entertainment as there are no tv's or anything else to engage with.
Overall an nice expernice but could be improved on easily.
Right by the loch with great views - our room was huge and very comfortable. We loved the spa and were often the only ones in there
Stayed here in March 2026. Twin room with my mum for her special birthday. The hotel was simply brilliant. I had asked for champagne flutes and ice bucket in the room which was supplied without question, as well as a birthday card for my mum and a nice box of biscuits! The room was immaculate and so beautifully decorated. The food in the brownie bar was first class and all staff were friendly and professional. The pool and spa areas looked a little tired on places and the pool could be a little warmer, but all in all a nice way to spend an hour or so. The shower in the changing room was pretty dirty which was a shame. We didn't have any treatments. We will definitely be back to the hotel, and will happy recommend to others.
We came up for a few days, of rest and relaxation in this beautiful part of Scotland.
We were not disappointed, the accommodation, food, staff and quality of our visit are a credit to the hotel. Great pool! we didn't use the Spa facilities but thoroughly enjoyed our swim each morning.
A great base for wandering around Loch Rannoch, climbing Schiehallion or visiting Aberfeldy/Pitlochry.
This was our 5th visit in 40 years. The Owner/Management have done so well to upgrade the Hotel to a great standard. The location is great with stunning views. The option to eat in the bar or formal restaurant (restricted times) is a bonus. Every member of staff we met were friendly and welcoming.
Absolutely fantastic hotel and spa. A stunning location with excellent staff and service. The food is amazing and the selection of malt whisky is formidable. Will definitely be returning.
We loved our 2 nights at the hotel! The staff were super and a special shout out to Alannah! Thank you for the whisky recommendations!
Bed was comfy, room (Comfy) was well appointed and the little touches made all the difference! The food was great, breakfast a real treat and dinner both nights in the Wild Brownie were fabulous!
The hotel has beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The wide choice of food was all delicious. The rooms were clean and well appointed.
We spent an overnight break here on the last day of their winter break offer. The offer was so good that we upgraded to a Loch view room and were not disappointed.
All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful from management, bar and Wait staff and chamber staff. They all seemed to be enjoying their jobs!! We arrived prior to check in time and staff offered to store our bags until our room was ready.
We then sat down to magnificent Afternoon Tea. Sandwiches Scones cakes and even an Ecclefechan Tart. We checked into our room with superb views over the loch, forrest and Schiehallion mountain.
I then went for a swim in the pool. The facilities were excellent with 20m pool steam room and sauna. The changing rooms were clean and lockers were provided. Remember to bring a towel from the hotel as they are not provided at the Spa.
Dinner was fine at the Wild Brownie Bar. Typical bar food but tasty and hot with attentive staff. The bar stock was first class with numerous beers on draught local gins and an expansive whisky selection.
Overnight the bed was very comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep.
A full Scottish breakfast the next morning fuelled us up for the journey home and we will certainly be back. Two words of note however. The road from the A9 to Loch Rannoch is very narrow and windy so it is quite a difficult drive for the last 15-20 miles. The views however are spectacular. Finally if you are unhappy paying hotel prices for dinner and drinks then be aware there are very few alternatives for eating and drinking nearby especially in the winter season.
Lovely friendly hotel staff they were very helpful , breakfast staff were very obliging
Evening dinner was a bit slow
Spa good as was treatments
Room service good
Don’t believe in service charge prefer to give my own tips
Would like to know more about the yoga retreat weekends and how much yoga meditation etc you get within the day very interested
Weather was fantastic as was the location
Will definitely visit again
Honestly, probably the worst hotel experience I've ever encountered.
The rooms and facilities are very dated. Not 4* and really shabby.
It is incredibly remote - which we thought would be charming but when the nearest other restaurant/takeaway/anything open is half an hour away then it is really disappointing when food is only average (and v expensive) as you have to eat in the same restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Also, in a remote location I'd hope for some nice accessible walks but we didn't find any.
They also have this virtual reservations/reception team who work entirely from home and can only be contacted by email which is very frustrating when trying to ask anything or get anything sorted before/during your stay
Staff were lovley, food in the bar was awful couldn't get a steak knife through the steak, was sent back to the kitchen, complained to management and still waiting on responce.
We had a lovely relaxing short stay at the Loch Rannoch Hotel in February. The staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming and I cannot fault the Lochside Heritage Rooms we booked. We had 2 rooms between 4 of us and we all slept well and found the rooms to be very comfortable and spotlessly clean if a little on the warm side. We ate both nights in the Wild Brownie bar restaurant (the Estate Room in low season is only open at the weekend). It's also worth noting that the Dunalistair Hotel restaurant is currently closed for refurbishment and that The Cornerstone is only open Wed - Sun atm. The food at the Hotel however is good quality pub fair and apart from the dessert menu portions were very generous. The Hotel is situated adjacent to the Loch and affords stunning expansive views. It is quite remote but offers great countryside for walking and we enjoyed using the pool facilities. Overall we thought the Hotel offered great value for money for a get away from it all vacation.
Just returned from a 1 night stay. Really impressed with our stay, nice pool and spa area. I often struggle with hotel pillows but the pillows were very good quality and supportive. What i really want to mention most is the fantastic staff. Its rare that i come away from a hotel stay really appreciate the staff however i want to give a special mention to the lady on the check in desk and the gentleman who didn't have a name badge on, possible Indian decent, slim build & curly black hair. He was working when we went for dinner in the evening in the bar area and again when we went for breakfast the next morning. He is extremely hard working and very polite. Thank you for an excellent stay and service.
We recently stayed at the hotel and chose to upgrade our room, which was well worth it. The front-facing views over the loch were absolutely fantastic and really made our stay special. The room was comfortable, spotless, and well-appointed, and the staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. A relaxing and memorable experience — we would happily return and highly recommend.
Very disappointed in this venue, had looked to book this for our wedding, after going down meeting the manager, showing us round the hotel and how the day would work, drawing up a contract then just out of no where no communication we got an email to say our reservation had been cancelled. Too many emails unanswered and too many phonecalls not returned. Offered a different hotel they have just bought over as they'd just decided they didnt want to host weddings in that particular hotel but didnt even think to tell us. Then another email unanswered, no prices, no communication. My intuition tells me I have dodged a bullet but still disappointed as thought this is where we wanted to get married. I emailed to say we were withdrawing our enquiry and still no email back, no apologies. If they can treat guests like that I would not recommend.
Sincerely pissed off bride to be.
We had a lovely time at Loch Rannoch in half term. The location and views from the hotel are stunning. The room was lovely. The spa and swimming were busy with a mix of families and couples, to be expected at half term. The menu was a little limited but the main restaurant wasn’t open due to winter. All in all a fabulous 3 nights. We will return!
The staff were excellent, each and everyone of them. Location is stunning Food and drinks were great and well presented
