Lovely two-night stay
Pros:

Room was spacious and very clean. Bed was comfortable enough.

Hotel appeared to be well maintained.
I had the gym to myself! Plenty of modern equipment and had gorgeous views across the loch. I didn’t book any spa treatments but the area looked lovely. Spent some time in the pool and steam room.

Staff were all lovely and welcoming. Thanks to Telmo for looking after us and special thanks to Maddy for helping with Scrabble! (I still lost but won the next night!)

I enjoyed our meals in The Wild Brownie Bar.
We both had tandoori chicken to start and Balmoral chicken for mains (since it was Burns night). Second night I had haggis croquettes followed by the pork belly. The pork belly was soft and pulled apart, crispy crackling on top and puffed crackling on the side. Delicious.
My husband had lentil soup and then venison chilli. He enjoyed both. I didn’t have dessert n either evening but husband enjoyed the salted caramel cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding.

Breakfast was served in The Rannoch Larder. Lovely bright space. We ordered full breakfasts each morning. Plenty of continental options available.

I think the only tiny thing they could improve on is having a fridge in the room. There was an ice bucket but it was hard to chill the prosecco in it (which had been left in our room for our arrival).

Food a massive let down.
Pros:

I’d like to start off positive as the hotel itself is lovely, the room was immaculate and very well put together. The staff were great as was the pool area.

The unfortunate side of our stay was the food both in the evening and breakfast.
I had the “crispy” pork belly, £20 for a tiny piece of pork and about 50% of it was inedible goo.
My wife had a “buttermilk chicken burger” with fries. Both were 100% frozen items you could pick up at farm foods and you are charging nearly £20 for this.
My daughter’s macaroni “cheese” was the most bland food I’ve ever tasted, it basically tasted like pure flour as if the cheese had been forgotten.
And even the “cheesecake of the day” was clearly a frozen dessert which was so bad I had it removed from our already expensive bill.
The breakfast pancakes clearly just pre-packaged crap and the bacon seemed to be cooked by a heated argument.

The overall experience for guests could be massively improved if the food was sorted, I would definitely stay again but would absolutely go elsewhere to spend that kind of money on dinner.

At least the Guinness was a decent pint.

A Wonderful Hotel in a Wonderful Location
Pros:

My husband and I have just had a wonderful overnight stay with Afternoon Tea and a Spa Experience!

Reception - Wonderful welcome and very helpful staff!

Spa and Pool - Another Wonderful welcome, and the staff were so helpful and kind. The Pool was a nice size, the Sauna and Steam room were great and the area immaculate.

Afternoon Tea - We sat in front of a log fire in the lounge area. Absolutely delicious Afternoon Tea. It was beautifully prepared and presented. A great choice of sandwiches, cakes, pastries and scones. We also had two pots of Tea.
The waitress was chatty, attentive and extremely kind.

We had an amazing Loch view room, decorated tastefully in a Scottish Theme. There was a wide range of Teas and a Coffee machine with plenty of refills. The Shortbread was perfect!
A great night’s sleep, a very comfy bed and the room was so peaceful and quiet.

Lovely toiletries, and large fluffy towels in the shower room. Great shower with plenty of hot water.

Breakfast was great, again with super helpful and pleasant staff. A wide choice of breakfasts. The cooked breakfast was delicious.

We will definitely come back for a longer stay!!

The hotel is situated directly across from the beautiful Loch Rannoch. There are so many walks to do from the hotel.

Fabulous!
Pros:

First time visiting Loch Rannoch and definitely won't be the last.

Our loch side room was beautiful and spacious. The staff could not have been more welcoming and happy to help. We ate in the Wild Brownie Bar and the food was delicious. A great choice of gluten free food which, having coeliac disease, was very welcome. Maddy is an asset to the team there and really made our evening. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and, again, options for gluten free food.

The bar area is extremely cosy and welcoming, there are books and board games too for anyone to use.

A stunning location and we will absolutely return.

Hogmanay celebrations at Loch Rannoch
Pros:

We had a wonderful experience once again bringing in the New Year. The activities were well planned out and meticulously carried out. Everything ran to time. The food, as always, was wonderful; special mention of the venison, which was cooked perfectly. The band at the ceilidh kept everyone up on the dance floor all night, and I loved the fact that there were foreign visitors placed at all the tables to allow a great mix of cultures and nationalities. Thanks again.

Pros:

Spacious, clean room overlooking Loch Rannoch - very peaceful
Bathroom a bit tired and screen leaked on the bath

Lovely breakfast and nice food in The Wild Brownie

Staff brilliant and thanks to Alannah and Magda

Shame spa and fitness room not in same building as hotel - separate and not really practical

Not keen on the dog friendly policy (not all guests like dogs)

Nice hotel nonetheless

Fabulous birthday celebrations
Pros:

We have just had a lovely stay at Loch Rannoch for my father’s 80th birthday. The staff are absolutely brilliant, so friendly and service on spot. Better than some of the five star hotels I have stayed at. We are both nights in Brownies and food was great each evening. Setting is stunning overlooking the loch. Our second stay and we will definitely be back. Thanks to everyone.

Mountains, Loch Views, and Total Relaxation
Pros:

If you’re after dramatic scenery, friendly people, and the occasional blast of “proper Scottish weather,” this is the place. The hotel sits right on Loch Rannoch, surrounded by mountains looking all majestic and snow-topped—like they’re showing off.

We hiked up Craig Varr (a “moderate” hike, which roughly translates to “you’ll question your life choices halfway up, then forgive everything when you see the views”). Absolutely stunning once you catch your breath!

The hotel has bags of Scottish character. The staff were lovely—big shout-out to Maddy in the Wild Brownie bar, who deserves her own fan club. Our room was spotless and had an incredible loch view that made getting up in the morning surprisingly painless.

Food? Delicious. Drinks? Plentiful. Spa? Yes, please. My wife had a facial, I had a neck, shoulder and back massage, and our masseuse was so good we forgot our own names, never mind hers. The pool was a bit on the “brisk” side, but the sauna and steam room fixed that quickly.

We also wandered into Kinloch Rannoch for a meal at the CornerStone, highly recommend. Proper good food, and no need to climb a mountain first.

All in all, an amazing trip and a brilliant way to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Would happily return, preferably after my legs recover from Craig Varr...

Great escape in rural Perthshire
Pros:

In terms of value for money, I would rate the Loch Rannoch hotel higher than similar properties in the surrounding area.

You have a charming property in a delightful setting, with a choice of restaurants and some limited spa facilities.

The hotel is able to help you with a number of activities and there is lots of countryside to explore, so if you’d like a relaxing break away from it all, this is a great choice
