Welcoming place to stay . Good value for money.
Pros:

Staff are so nice especially Keeley at reception and Michael at the bar/ restaurant.
We ate dinner in the hotel both nights we stayed and it was really good.
Breakfast had a good choice of food .
Room was clean .
Hotel and staff very dog friendly.

Cons:

Room was too warm for us at night but that’s just our preference , we prefer a cool room to sleep in.

A pleasant stay at a reasonable price (for the Highlands)
Pros:

Made to feel very welcome at Check in, and when there was a problem with keys for my single room I was upgraded to a family room instead. The Staff overall were friendly and helpful in what was obviously at some point a very Grand old building.

Cons:

The Hotel is starting to look a little "run down" in parts, for example unpainted and poor condition window frames/paintwork. However in the current climate, the costs of maintaining a building like this must be quite horrific.

Great historic character with very friendly staff
Pros:

Character in bucket loads. Overall it was such a lovely place to be. We had a great stay and enjoyed a very tasty meal. The staff were exceptionally friendly in all areas.

Cons:

We loved everything as we thoroughly enjoy staying in places with real character. Others may feel elements are a bit weathered.

Not as expected

The location is good, the outside of the building looks quite spectacular

Cons:

Why is the hotel owners (Strathmore Hotels) not mentioned on Booking.Com web site. I have visited a few of their hotels and been most disappointed, had I realise this then I wouldn't have booked this one.
Why do these hotels always look lovely in the photos on this/their web sites but when you get there it turns out to be a bit disheartened. I booked a superior double room as I thought the photos looked lovely to be given only what I would call a standard large double room, it was grubby where people had spilled drinks down the walls or left scuff marks from their luggage. Only one window would open as the others were painted shut.
