Breakfast is mostly a buffet, but even when not, the food is pre-cooked. Good quality ingredients but the pre-cooking turned bacon into leather. The breakfast staff are mostly quite good.
The (premium) room was a good size, modern and had everything we needed.
Dinner was better than we expected with a good choice of traditional and not-so-traditional dishes.
There is no lift.
The lounge area was too cold for sitting in the evening, the fires were unlit and the curtains had not been drawn. Not at all welcoming.
Clean, comfortable and staff are lovely. Food is delicious and well presented.
Air freshener plug ins in reception.
Lovely room with great garden view. Dinner and breakfast were excellent
No heating in the bathroom
The bed mattress
The hotel is located in a very beautiful village, and it is very charming.
Lots of space to hang out, nice restaurant
Breakfast not included, the isolation of the windows is not the best.
Lovely comfortable hotel. Staff were very friendly.
Need to run tap in shower before it comes hot but once it's hot all good.
Brilliant staff, very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was great and the bar had a nice friendly feel to it.
The decor is very tired in the corrdors and rooms, but it was kept clean. Car parking can sometimes be an issue when its busy. There needs to be an additional bolt on the insode of the bedroom doors.
Staff was amazing, very polite, the bed was super comfy and the room was a great size.
There was a funny smell on the bottom floor
Delightful 1st floor room with great view over the surrounding countryside.
Excellent selection from breakfast buffet and no trouble getting a bowl of porridge made to order.
One of restaurant staff rather abrupt when trying to select a table for breakfast.
The Hotel was in a good location for travelling to other surrounding towns and villages. The bed was huge and really comfortable. However, the pillows disappeared when you lay your head on them. The staff were really friendly and welcoming as well.
The Hotel looked like nothing had changed in it since the Victorian era. The carpets were all frayed and damaged. The TV's were not working due to a storm damaging the aerial around 2 weeks previous. The cold water tap in our bathroom was leaking and dripping constantly.
Personnel très sympathique et serviable.
Repas très bon.
Deux lits jumeaux.
La douche dans la baignoire.
Lovely hotel with old world charm, in a lovely location. We very much enjoyed our stay. All the staff were brilliant. Great place to eat in the evening. Lovely rooms with comfy beds. Very nice location with beatiful woodland nearby and plenty of local walks.
We all loved the food, especially the food served at dinner, everyone enjoyed their meal and the price was reasonable. I would go back for a meal in the future, but no to stay at the hotel.
The hallways were tired and dirty, the hotel needed redecorating and modernisation. Doors were chipped and needed painting, it looked like the dinning room hadn't been decorated in decades. Rooms were clean though, but the bathrooms had no opening windows or an extractor fan, this made the rooms uncomfortably damp after having a shower or bath.
One room was smelly, we reported this to recenption and we were offered a different room, which was good, howevever one of our rooms had no plug in the bathroom sink, we asked for one to be provided and reception said they would sort that out, but they never did, so my husband couldn't have a shave the next day.
The bedrooms had thick dusty carpets, which is a problem for people with dust allergies like myself.
The bedding was cotton, which was good, but the mattress I slept on was lumpy and tilted in one direction, which was uncomfortable and I didn't sleep well here. The pillows were lumpy too and of poor quality, not what I would expect, but having staying in 4 places during this trip, I found that most beds and bedding are of poor quaity, with the exeption of the Premier Inn we stayed in, where the bed and bedding were all of a very high standard.
The shower in our room was not hot, but was warm enough to have a quck shower, so adequate, however the room was unheated, with no instructions on how to turn it on, so I was cold, especially with having long hair after my shower, no hair dirying was provided.
When my duaghter complained to me about her room smelling, reception said old buildings smell, but I live in a home that is near to 100 years old, and my home does not smell. The reason why properties smell is that fabrics in the home are not replaced for decades, such as carpets, curtains, mattresses etc... The other reason why properties smell is through lack of ventelation, such a no extractor fan in bathroom.
Overall, I would 100% eat here again, but we would choose to stay somewhere else.
breakfast very good
the views were beautiful
it was close to Aviemore and Cairngorm
cleanliness was an issue , bad smell throught hotel lobbies
I understand the hotel is old which was one of the reasons I booked but could do with a little update ie windows and a link of paint
Josh was a most appreciated and fabulous member of staff, as was Kelly. They were both so eager to make us feel at home and quite special!
The entertainment, Stewart Anderson was terrific! What a master!
The toilet roll holder in room 211, as the toilet roll slid off the hanger with even the slightest nudge as the toilet and hanger are located very close to the door. Everything was else was great!
The staff and breakfast room bed comfortable
