We had lovely stay even with the snow storm that had occurred the week prior. Location was excellent and the hotel was beautiful.
Truly gorgeous hotel with great attention to detail, consistent hospitality amongst all employees, and the room was gorgeous. The setting was perfect for a winter wedding.
Thank you for an extraordinary stay during my husband's birthday! The staff at the front desk, the bellman, the valet, the room service, cleaning staff, dining room, and all were absolutely phenomenal. We encountered a crew of extremely dedicated workers who made our stay the best, and the Vanderbilt is lucky to have them. My husband even got to drive the Maybach on his birthday, which was a special treat. We are grateful for such a phenomenal stay, and we plan to return every year.
Beautiful hotel, but it was the service of every single person I encountered that truly made it magical. Beautiful from start to finish. We were on college visits and spent the night. From the moment we arrived, we were engaged and the team effortlessly jumped in and thought of ways to help our trip go smoothly. Every single interaction was kind and helpful and genuine. I might actually go out of my way to go to Newport in the middle of winter again just to experience it.
Fantastic visit. Great service, fantastic food. Above and beyond in every aspect. Would highly recommend a stay. Even in winter it was great.
Briefly, it was an excellent stay. Very welcoming and accommodating staff. Especially, Melissa, concierge. Greta location to saunter around Newport. Rooms were great as were amenities and dining. Breakfast was excellent, especially home made scone!
Every member of the staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming. The Sunday roast was delicious, the cocktails were fantastic, and the hotel itself is beautifully designed. There are also plenty of activities to enjoy during your stay. I would highly recommend The Vanderbilt.
Loved it! Honestly the entire team was SO kind and so accommodating. I went with my youngest son for an event he was having in the area and I honestly look forward to returning with the rest of the family.
We had such an amazing time at this lovely hotel. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, helping us to line up a car tour of the area. We enjoyed the spa, dining room, brunch, tarot and indoor pool.
We had a lovely experience, the hotel was beautiful. The front desk was warm and friendly. Also it was the week after the snow storm, everything was cleared up, the valet made sure our car was upfront in the freezing cold. Breakfast service as well, was super friendly.
We celebrated my sister’s birthday and the Vanderbilt was the perfect setting. We had a couple of suites so could relax in our rooms together. The brunch is especially good, and the pool is serene and pretty. It was cold outside but warm at the Vanderbilt in every way.
Terrific stay at The Vanderbilt that made our special anniversary feel even more special. The rooms and the common areas were impeccable, top notch service, and delicious food. We'll be back!
Quite disappointed with this Auberge which really doesn’t meet their normal standards.
The room was large, two stories and was well equipped, sort of!! Had to ask several times for things you’d normally expect. Staff not as friendly or helpful as expected and the food can be split.. breakfast food was good and choice was ok.. evening meal was atrocious and the service and eating areas were awful.. actually found it quite grubby.
Good base for Rhode Island which wasn’t what I expected at all.. very touristy and a little down market.. positively Baltic in March
The moment we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff ready and willing to assist us. Check in process was efficient. The room was immaculate. Staff through out our stay was so gracious and helpful. The entire inn is beautiful. The atmosphere creates a calm, warm and cozy feel. We loved every minute of our stay!
I had a wonderful New Year’s stay at the Vanderbilt. Gabby and the entire front desk team were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making sure my friend and I had an amazing vacation. That level of hospitality truly stood out.
The property has such a cozy atmosphere with a beautiful Gilded Age edge. It feels both elegant and inviting. We attended the New Year’s Eve party and everything from the food and drinks to the entertainment was fantastic.
All in all, it was an awesome New Year’s excursion, and I will absolutely be back to stay at the Vanderbilt.
What a beautiful hotel in downtown Newport The decor is dark and warm. Rooms and common areas in excellent condition
The restaurant is excellent as are the cocktails and creative events the hotel hosts.
I have lived in Newport and have a business in town, but this is the first time at the hotel for either a food or overnight experience. The property is quintessential Newport - loads of historic detail and charm. It is elevated but understated at the same time. Loved the intimacy of the property and all the cozy rooms.
I have been going to the Vanderbilt Grace restaurant for about 15 years a few times a year. In its early days, the food, the design and ambience of the restaurant was exceptional. Warm cozy, atmosphere professional weight staff with terrific food. As it has gone through its different owners in the last 10 years. It has slipped a little bit each time. I’ve eaten there twice in the last two weeks. Two weeks ago the pork chop was excellent. Last night filet mignon special was slightly above average. It was old meat that had been frozen and lost its flavor when defrosted and cooked. The current ambience and decor is a monotone. Although semi luxurious nothing like it used to be. The waiter staff and host seem to be mostly local college kids. Certainly not a professional group.. Would say currently the menu is quite limited. Used to be better. The specials aren’t very good. Would consider other places like Castle Hill first. It’s not what it used to be. Take your chances going there.
My husband and I visited Newport for a few nights after our wedding. We wanted a relaxing, calming, and gorgeous getaway after a stressful wedding season. The Vanderbilt was the best place we have visited in a long time. From the service, to the accommodations, this place is a 10/10. We are sticklers for service and vibes, and the staff at this hotel exceeded our expectations. The bar and sitting areas were extremely relaxing, the restaurants were delicious, and the rooms were beautiful. The hotel is tucked away in the heart of Newport, we got to walk everywhere. Highly recommend if you want a romantic getaway with your partner. Plus they make a fantastic dirty martini!
