The property was beautiful- lots of lovely outdoor space and plantings. The bar was nicely decorated and had a great atmosphere. The room was even nicer than it appeared online. Great bathroom and the best shower of our trip! Loved the robes and our little patio.
Nothing at all!
This is a stunning hotel; so much so hard to motivate leave the place and see the city! The ponds are beautiful and the restaurant breakfast and bar menu very good for a hotel. The staff is great. It’s a bit out of the way but the shuttle will take you to all the touristy stuff. The valet went out of his way to find us a service to drive us to dinner farther out and make our reservation (do not plan on using taxis or ride share in Taos). Wish there was an atm on the property for gratuities as we ran out of cash.
No lunch or afternoon food options.
We stayed here for 1 night on a quick trip to Taos. The hotel is very nice, check in was easy. We had a nice room and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was easy and the hotel is just a short drive from the centre of town.
Location and the room size
The spa pool is in need of a refurb. Jacuzzi doesn’t work. There were cobwebs in the hallway. We had a light out in our room and now liquid body soap. These were easily changed but should have been checked prior to our arrival.
Mirth was exceptional! Fantastic deep tissue massage.
Blue and Brooke were fantastic!! Both were friendly, welcoming, and provided the best service. Would definitely recommend dining with them!
Blue and Brooke gave exceptional service and the food was excellent! Definitely a place we would recommend and return to!
Set in a quiet oasis, the grounds at the Sagrado are genuinely beautiful and serene, with plenty of well-maintained outdoor space. The valet staff were courteous and helpful, and check-in and general hotel staff were friendly and professional throughout my stay.
Unfortunately, the guest rooms told a very different story. My first room had visible hair and pet food on the floor, damaged walls, and dirty curtains — the room felt neglected and worn. I reported this to the front desk and was moved to a second room, which turned out to have the same issues: scarred furniture, dust along all the baseboards, a stained carpet, an armoire with doors that wouldn't close, and a shower with visible stains. The box spring was torn, the sliding glass door was dirty, and black scuff marks were visible throughout the room.
At that point, I decided not to request a third room, as it seemed clear this level of upkeep was consistent across the property rather than an isolated issue. I was genuinely concerned about pests given the state of the room, so I kept my belongings sealed in my suitcase for the duration of my stay rather than unpacking as I normally would.
It's particularly disappointing because I stayed about a year after the hotel's major remodel — it's hard to reconcile that with rooms in this condition. The bones of a great hotel are clearly here: the grounds, the location, and the staff are excellent. But the guest rooms are in urgent need of deep cleaning and maintenance, and I'd hesitate to return until that's addressed.
There are many more photos to add, including stains on the carpet and dirty light switches. I thought my choice of photos would suffice to show the general condition of the rooms.
On first impression upon arrival this hotel looked promising with a very informative man at the entrance telling us all about car parking , shuttle services etc. Sadly the reception staff were not so welcoming, no eye contact, no welcome, couldn’t be bothered with us TBH! We were shown to our room- style over substance, dark and dated with lots of dust and even more beetles!! These were coming from the patio doors and were increasing before our eyes. Maintenance were called and they sprayed the areas but to no avail. We spoke to management who upgraded us to a suite no less- again style over substance, dark, filthy patio area, stained rugs and torn lampshades. The whole place has an air of a faded beauty who needs some TLC
The positives- the shuttle car is a great facility and the driver was so informative and chatty. The breakfast offering was great with lovely staff as was the bar area. Lovely grounds but only an indoor pool on offer which seems odd given the very high temperatures outside.
The piped music which is of a tranquil spa type is great but, not all night long!!
It’s a resort. Everything is close whether you’re going from the room to the pool or spa or restaurant. It’s also close to Toas plaza and close to local attractions.
Our resort experience is great! The dining experiences have been exceptional. Our server Brooke is amazing! She is so positive, friendly and extremely professional! She definitely an invaluable asset to El Monte Sagrado!
Beautiful property grounds
Lots of bugs. Found two in our room and we also saw a snake around the property. Carpet in rooms that needs to come up. Stranger set up for bathrooms. No doors, curtains. Another nasty thing to get rid of. They were filthy.
Would give the place a 4.5 if I could. Definitely the best property in Taos. Walkable to downtown. (Taos by the way is not getting much better and not worth the stop). The grounds are impeccably maintained. We got a larger room with a huge, private back patio. Large walk in shower. If you have a lot of luggage, definitely use the valet as it will probably be a hike to the room. The only negatives are that the furniture in the rooms are dated, no bedside chargers, and they add a $35.00 “amenity” fee. Not sure if that’s daily or a one time fee as we stayed only nite (ready to get out of Taos). Dinner at the restaurant was very good. Our total one night price was $337.00.
