I stayed here on my way from California to Santa Fe. I wasn't expecting much more than the typical rural franchise motel experience. What I enjoyed was much more hotel than motel ... well-lit, contemporary lobby, spacious lounge with delicious hot breakfast options (which I did not get the chance to enjoy but it smelled wonderful and the coffee is very good. The room was spotless and modern with a mega-comfortable bed and linens. I remember staying at Best Westerns at a kid ... this is definitely not that. Not sure if all Best Westerns are this nice but I will make a point try them out when they are an option in the places I visit.
The room was clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. I saw a few reviews questioning the safety of Gallup, but I saw no reason for concern. I felt safe.
Best stay yet in Gallup. We were beginning to think there weren't good stays in Gallup. The BW was clean with a spacious room, good breakfast, good service and we didn't feel like the interstate or train was moving through our room.
Definitely a recco if you need a place in Gallup.
Very busy place, easy to get in/out of highway, convenient to gas stations. Rooms need some updates/repairs, but overall was a good nights sleep.
Routinely travel cross country with two small (25lbs & 30lbs) hypoallergenic, non-shedding hunting dogs. For current trip, checked “pet policies” on the website of each potential hotel along our route. Selected hotels and double checked “pet policies” in each by telephoning each hotel. Fees? Cover both small dogs or have to pay two “pet fees”? Chose “pet friendly” hotels whose website described their “pet policy” and whose front desk personnel verified one fee, for both dogs, pet exercise area, pet designated rooms. Then pre-paid for each hotel with our credit card’s “Travel Center”. Everything went well until we met manager Audry at the Best Western – West in Gallup, New Mexico. While unloading vehicle, spouse was required to pay two “pet fees” and felt intimidated. When this writer asked for a copy of the “Pet Policy” there was no mention of separate $30.- fees for each small dog. Informed manager that we verified the one fee requirement with her hotel personnel. Whereupon she informed “It’s on our website”.
Went to our pre-paid room, connected to the internet, pulled up this hotel’s website and took a screenshot of their website. . . . no mention of separate $30.- fees for each dog. Walked back to front desk with laptop connected to the hotel’s website, asked for a refund of the second $30.- “pet fee” and was told the manager had left and “we cancelled your reservation. . . you have thirty minutes to leave the hotel.” Responded: “We just drove 600 miles, we’re exhausted and we do not intent to abandon our pre-paid reservation”. We were then told “If you don’t leave in the next thirty minutes, we’re calling the cops.” Returned to our room, logged in to our Best Western account and contacted “Customer Services”. . . .no help whatsoever. Twenty minutes later two Gallup, NM police officers knocked on the door of our assigned room. After explaining our predicament and showing them this writer’s credentials as a licensed attorney, the police officers apologized and left. At this point we feared the hospitality staff would further sabotage our stay, secured alternate hotel and left. We have stayed at Best Westerns all over the US and never expected to be abused this way.
Clean, comfortable, friendly service.
Comfortable bed and pillows. Overall quality stay. Breakfast was filling, hard working staff.
Facility was clean and well maintained
The registration staff & breakfast staff were great.
Really well maintained.

Very nice place to stay

Front desk manager very helpful and personable.
Only problem area is a bug running in front of my feet as I walked in…I killed it and did not see any other around our room or facilities.
Didn’t go to the gym
Our room had a plugged up toilet that couldn’t be fixed. They tried several times but there definitely was an issue- we had to go down into the lobby to use the restroom. Tried to reach out to the manager for a credit. Staff was not friendly or as helpful as I would have expected.
I was about 30 mins away from the hotel after driving for 7 hours when I received a phone call from the hotel telling me they over booked and would need to send me over to their sister hotel, comfort inn, for a room. Although I was grateful that they found me a room someplace else instead of canceling, it was pretty frustrating since I had picked this hotel for a reason and had opted not to stay at a lower ranking hotel. Still don't understand how a room I had already paid for suddenly wasn't available anymore.
Standard hotel. Clean. Comfortable bed . Easy access to hiway. Close chain restaurants. Standard, awful free breakfast.
The lady at the front desk was very friendly and efficient. The lady in the dining area was very friendly and efficient as well.
