Perfect hotel!
The location is amazing, the view is beautiful !
The stuff was very welcoming and kind.
We would definitely come back
Forgot to clean the room one morning
The sure sign of a top hotel is when the guests greet each other with a smile or joke on the facilities. As a result of the kind attention and quality of services delivered by the staff. It is a two way street.
Events are an important source of income for the hotel. They should never barr the individual guest from the main pool area and dinner terrace. The VIP is the individual guest over the wedding participant.
Beautiful option with stunning views, food was amazing, view from pools stunning and staff were exceptionally helpful
5 star prices, but sadly not justified.
Staff are charming, but sadly that’s not enough.
Food was fine, but not great. Unfortunately it was €7 for a tiny glass of coke and some cocktails were €50+. This would be fine at a genuine 5 star, but it’s all slightly tired and there were children running around the pool screaming…
Room was okay, but again a 3 star room for 4 star prices. Shower was half broken and room inexplicably not cleaned for two days running.
Staff were very friendly and talkative, but alas they were not yet up to speed. Food orders missed at breakfast, not having any local suggestions etc. Again, all fine at a 3/4 star, but no five star service at any point…
I would suggest finding an alternative option if you’re after a luxury holiday.
I have to say, I’m someone disappointed to leave this review. If I could’ve given it 2.5 stars I would have and here is why -
Firstly, the positive points.
1. The senior reception and concierge teams were exceptionally professional at all times, very helpful.
2. The pools appear to have lifeguards which is a first time I have seen this at a hotel and is a nice touch.
3. Housekeeping always kept the room spotlessly clean.
4. Location to village is a 12 minute walk.
Now sadly, the frustrating things.
1. We booked room 408 which was a sea view room. Stayed for 7 nights. Whilst the bedroom is nice, it has zero soundproofing and this means you can hear when next door flush the loo at 4am. Another issue with the rooms is that the access to the rooms passes the bathroom which is sited next to the main entrance door and if someone is on the loo, in a different room, you will hear it.
Minibar prices are way too expensive. Think €7 for a bottle of beer you can buy in the village for €1.40. Don’t know why hotels do this, they would sell more at lower profit if it was reasonably price vs selling none to us.
2. It seems, as you might expect that at the start of the season they have trainee staff for the restaurants and other areas. In my opinion, these guys shouldn’t be allowed to work with customers until the get to a standard suitable enough to be 5 star hotel standard. Breakfast some days was hit and miss, some stuff would arrive, other days it wouldn’t.
3. The pool. We were unlucky with the weather but given the rain and thunderstorms, they should be bringing the seat pads off the sun loungers and storing them in the dry? They don’t, so when the sun did come out, the towels basically soaked up the water and they became damp. Change towel, damp again. It’s not rocket science but should have been considered in a 5 star resort. It is worthwhile noting that the pool in the bottom of the hotel is located next to a main road, you do have road noise.
We had three meals by the pool, two were decent, but we shared a pizza and frankly for a 5 star resort in Italy, putting out what appeared to be a ready made pizza base with some topping was poor. €18 for a 10 inch pizza, vs BIGA Neapolitan in the village offering a 12 inch proper pizza for €12. It’s not really about the money, it is however about the quality. Speaking of which, cocktails. Expect to pay €22 - €45. Served in plastic cups if you have them around the pool.
4. Kids. This is a quiet resort, I did research and everything online seemed to point at kids over 10. No, by the pool kids were allowed to run around, jump on sunbeds, make as much noise as they wanted. I don’t think it is right that it isn’t adults only at this resort, it’s not geared up for kids.
This isn’t a cheap place to stay, the pricing for food a drink is too much. My partner described it as all style and no substance which I agree with.
This is really a most wonderful hotel. First of all the staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful. They really seemed to love having us to stay and looked to be happy in their work. We had a most beautiful room with a pool, overlooking the bay, from which we saw the most beautiful sunrises every morning and the colours of the sea change throughout the day. The infinity pool is wonderful, with a great view. The food and wine in the restaurant is exquisite. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The experiences team helped us with arranging car hire and with a private tour of a local winery. They us as to the best places in the area to see.
This is a very smart, relaxed and quiet hotel/resort. We will be coming back.
The hotel just reopened, and probably now is even better to experience the local area. Weather is perfect and around is not crowded.
The hotel team is very enthusiastic, and the view over the sea is spectacular. Very quiet at night these days. The food at Zaïa is delicious, but above all, the people where very genuine and friendly. I think the infinity pool above is the best spot of the hotel and worth the visit.
The beauty of Cannigione is that it’s open all year, and it feels more local and authentic because of that.
The staff was amazing
No heated pools
Beautiful part of Sardinia; the public beaches around are gorgeous and pristine; the staff at Aethos are really excellent; the restaurant is good. Sophisticated, great for couples and yet also child friendly without being overrun by children.
