Fantastic central hotel, opposite the train station but also convenient for parking with it also opposite the hotel (£5 for 24hrs!!)
We stayed 1nt in December 2025 and also 1nt back in September 2025. Both were very good.
Room clean, tidy and comfortable. Iron and ironing board - so hard to find in most hotels so a good addition in the room.
All the staff from front desk to bar staff were super friendly and cannot do enough for you.
We ate Sunday lunch there too - absolutely stunning and so tasty! Good value for money on its portion sizes too.
The reason for not giving it 5 stars is that they allow walk ins from outside guests who are not staying at the hotel and the bar then turns into a night at the local when very drunk people harass guests enjoying themselves - especially if on their own - or the local drunk stumbles in.
But overall very good experience and it has not deterred us from coming back.
We went for Sunday lunch for 3 joint birthday's.
Food was outstanding, service was fantastic. I had a very rowdy 2 year old with me and all the staff were welcoming and accommodating.
Hands down the best roast dinner around!
We had a table booked for 2 arrived and had to wait to be seated we then sat down to have to wait again until asked if we wanted any drinks they then brought plates out which were dirty with food left from previous sitting they finally came out with the food 4 adult meals which wouldn’t fill a child we will not be returning for Sunday dinner and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody it was too sweet the gravy was rubbish and for what you get it is not worth the money
Visited for Sunday lunch it was absolutely delicious.
It was served on a large board with melt in the mouth Beef, roasties, roast parsnip, roast carrot stuffing tender stem broccoli then separate dishes of sprouts swede and cauliflower cheese and not forgetting the large homemade Yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy.
All the staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
Can’t wait to return highly recommend 😍
Booked a Christmas Party for 61 people for 29th November. Venue was fabulous. Food and service were fantastic. The entertainment was tremendous. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble
Absolute brilliant evening was had by everyone. Fantastic Atmosphere.
Will definitely book again for next year.
Bigs thanks to Becky Davies who I liased with for this booking 👏👏👏👌
What a fabulous hotel, friendly staff and excellent food - can’t recommend enough and shout out to Victoria and Stewart who made us very welcome
On a few occasions where time has permitted, my wife and I have called in The Grand for breakfast prior to getting the train to London.
Today was one of those days and we were both looking forward to a leisurely full English.
Walking into the lobby we were directed to the breakfast room (this was a bar last time we visited!) and told to speak to a member of staff to see if they could accomodate us...
After waiting a short while for a member of staff to appear we were somewhat grudgingly shown to a table in a manner which conveyed extreme inconvenience to the member of staff.
We were handed menus and told that we could have a continental breakfast plus choice of cooked breakfast for £14.95 or just have cooked choice but she didnt know how much each choice was. It was reasonable to assume it would be somewhat less than £14.95 as no continental option was included.
This is where it really started to go wrong...two breakfasts and two coffees came to £32.80. Clearly the cost was higher than two continental + hot option (including coffee) so my partner asked to cancel the order and asked for the cheaper 'combined option'. ....stay with me it gets better.... She was told it was not possible to cancel the order made milli seconds ago.
Rather than cause a fuss she accepted the rip off.
The food came. A small plate, barely larger than a side plate, containing 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 very small egg, a spoonful of baked beans and a small slice of rock hard toasted sour-dough bread. It certainly didnt look like £14.95 worth by any stretch...
Now call me old fashioned but I dont expect my full English to be doused in balsamic vinegar...does the cook think it will earn him a Michelin star perhaps?
My wife returned her meal but I decided to soldier on as time was passing and we had a train to catch.
Next discovery: the food is pretty much cold. To their credit the member of staff readily offered to replace both meals with a hot version - I assume this was a frequent occurrence.
Eventually the food appeared, hot and balsamic free. It then took less time to eat it than order it.
Will we go back?: Not a chance.
Will we recommend to others?: No, quite the opposite...
Score: 2 / 5
PS: interesting to see numerous residents popping across the road to Tesco to get something for breakfast! 😂
We went to The Grand Hotel for a roast this evening — had to book for 6pm as it was the only table available, which shows how popular it is! A few starters and mains were unavailable, and there was a small mix-up with our food at first, but the staff handled everything brilliantly. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and they quickly put things right.
The food we did have was really tasty, and Stuart was especially helpful and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Mistakes happen — having worked in the industry myself, I know how hectic it can get — but what matters is how it’s dealt with, and in this case the customer service was fab.
Despite the earlier muddle, we’d definitely go back. Great food and even better staff made the evening really enjoyable.
Unusually me - I had to be in Swansea overnight and couldn’t find a 5 or even 4 star hotel anywhere near where I had to be.
As you can see from my 200+ reviews, I am an exclusively 5 star hotel guest (and a very annoying and demanding one at that), so it was with huge trepidation that I booked a night at this place.
First signs were not at all good. The reception was a bit tatty and on arriving at 2.45 I was told they can’t check me in till 3.00 - so I joined a whole queue of guest waiting around the rather sad and dated lobby.
My fellow guests were also an odd group of some rather suspicious looking characters, quite a few elderly couples, and someone checking in with just a Tesco’s plastic bag. Interesting.
After waiting till 3pm - we all got up in a line to wait to get our rooms. Something I have never experienced before!
Whilst waiting I had seriously thought I heading back home - but….
…the receptionist was lovely and I was directed the 4th floor to one of the ‘Executive Rooms’.
The room itself had an outdoor hot tub (not great in a cold and wet day) - a large balcony overlooking the Station (which was actually super-convenient) and other than being a little tatty and designed by someone with some really bad taste - was actually perfectly good for a night.
The bed was very comfy, the bathroom an excellent size and the room had every amenity you would need for 24 hours.
There was a good heater/AC unit and it was no hassle to bring my small e-bike up to the room for safe keeping. There is also a great little Tesco’s opposite.
I didn’t have the courage to stay for breakfast - but I have to say - for what I needed - a place to sleep that was almost clean (just one spiders web above the bed) with lovely staff and a good sized room, right opposite the station - the Grand Hotel did the job and taught me not to be such a snob!!
I came with friends for a Sunday lunch and we all had a fantastic time. Despite some issues in the kitchen, they stayed open. The food was amazing. Our waitress, Ellie was an angel.
Ellie was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond for us from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble. Her kindness and warmth made such a difference, and she even took a lovely photo of the five of us that we’ll treasure forever. We’re so grateful for everything you did, Ellie! You’re truly one of a kind. Love from all of us! ❤️
Lovely staff that helped with the wedding i went to on Friday, stayed the night in a nice clean room witch i hardly used lol,
A fabulously warm welcome at the Grand. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Excellent food too. Will not hesitate to return.
I recently attended a private function at which a buffet was provided. I have a couple of food intolerances which were previously advised.
I found the service excellent in all the areas of hotel.
The hotel reception area was welcoming, and all the team members I encountered were all pleasant and helpful.
The room in which the function was held had its own well stocked bar to avoid guests having to leave the function room.
On joining the queue for the well presented buffet, a gentleman was asking who had allergies. He asked me to stand aside and my food was provided to me plated. I was then advised which of the sides on the buffet I was able to eat and which to avoid.
I attended an ABBA Evening organised by Swansea WI . The staff at the hotel were so helpful and went out of their way to attend to our needs . Food was great ,they had to feed a very large crowd .. All in all a very enjoyable evening , special thanks due to staff at the hotel.
We organised an Abba themed social event this month (October 2025) at this hotel. The staff at the hotel went out of their to provide an excellent service. Everyone had a great time. I had curry and rice with all the accompaniments and thoroughly enjoyed the food served. Thank you to all involved in making this night so enjoyable.
Went to a show thoughly enjoyed how ever the bar area needs a shake up it didn't seem clean very expensive for drinks. Toilets were not clean I understand it was very busy but should be someone checking them. The cafe side was packed and no one seemed happy I understand next year seating in the theatre is going to be changed around. The box staff are amazing always helpful and smiling.
The hotel was very well located just by the Station.
We were most impressed by how friendly all the staff were. Our waitress Cer couldn’t have been more helpful.
The meal in the bar was delicious, I believe the Restaurant is currently being worked on.
Our room is extremely comfortable, and the heating was easy to regulate.
I had to write this review just to get the message across. Everything here was exactly what you would expect it to be, the staff, the service & the room pretty much faultless I would say as was the ordering of your cooked breakfast from the menu & the table service. What was questionable if not bizarre was the setup of the buffet part of the breakfast. Condiments but no toaster or bread, the milk not chilled in anyway, no side plates only cereal bowls, you had to use your fingers if you wanted any fruit which lay under a loose piece of cling film on a wooden board, no spoons in any dried fruit or seed jars, it just felt so awkward to help yourself although there were tongs on some of the items. I don’t think this needs to wait for the refurbishment quite simply the buffet part of the breakfast could be way better than this. Hotel Manager if in any doubt take a look at the Premier Inn buffet breakfast setup just as an example, the answers are there.
