The place to stay in Liverpool
Pros:

Always stay here when we come to Liverpool, highly recommend it, immaculately clean and maintained, staff friendly and professional. Great breakfast, rooms very comfortable. Well located for Liverpool 1 and easy for taxi into the city.

A real gem in the heart of the city
Pros:

My wife and I were in Liverpool to visit our granddaughter at university, spending 3 nights at the Dolby Hotel.

The hotel's location is ideal, on the edge of Queen's Dock, so very close to all the main shopping and tourist areas. Despite its central location it offers free car parking for the duration of the stay and, something I especially appreciated since I own an electric car, EV Charging.

The rooms are compact but spotlessly clean and well-equipped, though my wife would have liked a little more storage space for clothes. The bathrooms are, essentially, pods installed within each room, definitely "compact" but containing everything such a facility should offer. Our room was serviced each day.

We were fortunate in being allocated a room overlooking the dock, this was, to me, a real plus point. There was absolutely no problem with noise but whether rooms on the other side of the hotel, so facing the car park and, beyond it, the street would be as quiet I cannot say.

We did not eat at the hotel in the evenings but the breakfasts were excellent, well-cooked and the hot food was hot. The fact that the restaurant overlooks the dock, again help to contribute to the very peaceful atmosphere of the whole building.

Overall, an excellent find, thanks Trivago!

Clean, compact room helpful staff
Pros:

The rooms are compact but had everything you need. The bathroom was like a caravan bathroom unit. There is quite a step up to get in the bathroom not easy when you're on crutches. I did ring to book a ground floor room and explained I was on crutches but wasn't told about the step up to the bathroom. The room and reception was very clean and reception were helpful

Tiny room, bathroom was too small
Pros:

Two nights, single male, bed and breakfast. This hotel offers free parking for guests, the Wi-Fi is very good (strong signal) and easy to connect on to with the code provided at reception. Cooked full English breakfast was buffet style of good srandard. There are lovely views of the docks from the bedroom and the restaurant. Staff are excellent, they go the extra mile to provide the best service to customers with respect and dignity. All these positive qualities are deeply appreciated.

I required an accessible room, regretfully, one was not available when I called number stated on their website. As it happens, the hotel only has just the one accessible room, and all other rooms are the same. Maybe this is something that needs to be made clear on the website.

My room was very small and the bathroom toilet, was tiny and raised. So it's about a 10cm step into the bathroom toilet area, which is Tiny! I mean, aeroplane style tiny.

I got a step to help climb into that area. At 188cm tall, my head barely clears the showerhead in the shiwer, and I fill the 'tight fit' shower completely touching sides.

One star because the room is totally unsuitable for me.

Recommended for a great stay when visiting Liverpool
Pros:

Stayed at the Dolby with my son for a basketball event at the nearby M&S arena. It was within pleasant walking distance to both the arena, Liverpool centre and the train station and others things to do such as the museum, Albert docks. The hotel itself was very clean, beds were really comfortable and I had a perfect nights sleep. The manager at the front desk and hosting at breakfast was really friendly, cheerful and great with my son. We had the buffet breakfast in the morning and it was fantastic for the price. Everything was tasty and fresh and there was a lot of choice. I would definitely return when we come back to Liverpool again!

After 2 nights at the Claremont Blackpool, we had a fab 2 nights stay at the Dolby Hotel in Liverpool. Onto southport Waterfront
Pros:

Having had 2 nights at the Claremont hotel in Blackpool, we arrived in Liverpool on Sunday 22nd February 2026 for 2 nights at the Dolby Hotel.
Staff were very friendly and we were able to book in at 3pm. We had arrived at 1pm and as there is a McDonald's (and a KFC) just over the road we went for something to eat. We have stayed at this hotel twice before this visit. A big plus is the free parking and the proximity of the hotel to Albert Dock and the shops. We walked to Matthew Street and spent the afternoon in the cavern club.
The rooms at the Dolby are quire small, but certainly big enough for 2 nights. No wardrobe as such, but there is a rail to hang about half a dozen coat hangers. We had food in the hotel one night, both having the cheese burger and fries and I have to say we both enjoyed it. There is also a lovely little sitting area to have a drink and read a book, or to just relax. As already said this is not our first stay at this hotel and we will be back again, hopefully next February.

Disappointing to say the least.
Pros:

Well I don't normally post negative reviews but this hotel was incredibly disappointing. Plus points were the free parking and warm welcome from the reception girls. The beds however were the most uncomfortable beds I've ever encountered and offered zero support, so much so that we forced to cut short our stay. The follow up communications from management when I raised the issue were nothing short of a disgrace, their misrepresentation of the facts basically implying that I was either stupid or a liar. We will not be back.
